View Full Version : Minkowski can't "get back". Thats the new magic phrase.
avandelay 02-29-2008, 02:27 AM Minkowski used the enigmatic phrase tonight just before he died. He said that he couldn't "get back". He couldn't get back to whichever state of consciousness was the "correct" one for him. I think that idea will be pervasive in the seasons to come, and furthermore, I think in the end, everyone needs to get back to the island so that someone can resync their consciousnesses back to before the crash. Everyone on the plane passed through that field, and everyone's consciousness became "unglued", or whatever word Faraday used, from the proper time.
Rosemary Bats 02-29-2008, 02:55 AM Hence Jack's cry of "We have to go BACK!" :)
I like this idea that the Island isn't just a place to them, but an induced state of consciousness that they're trying to get back to, whether to "fix" it or something else.

i was honestly about to come back to this thread and say that. i think we're on to something here...
awesomecoolderek 02-29-2008, 03:07 AM Dang. So he did officially die? I thought it was more ambiguous... and I thought Minkowski's character was going to be of more significance. I'm confused at when George and his friend took off toward the island. Clearly he was "ok" in TTLG and TBOTE when we heard him on the phone... there doesn't seem like much time in-between then and now for him to get "sick."

I'm thinking that there are two types of "getting back" at play. They need to literally, physically, "get back" to the island, because that is the place where someone or something is going to help them all "get back" to their proper state of consciousness.

Desmond almost died in an hour or two (in Sayid's perspective).
hellotzp 02-29-2008, 03:38 AM minkowski went to the island with brandon. danielle's transmission mentioned that brandon had the keys. danielle recorded that transmissio n12 years before. what are the keys? is this the same brandon? if so, then how long has the frieghter been out there? is the freighter danielle's research ship?
ok that i just worked that out as i typed and i bet someone else has laready thought of it but OOOH i am happy with that thought. really complicates the time differential but is a delightful riddle. i think i am gonna be see if i can start a thread on this!
monsieurxander 02-29-2008, 11:15 AM Minkowski goes back in time, but his consciousness is his current one.
Desmond goes back, but his consciousness is his past one.
Why the difference?

I think that this goes along with a theory I have made elsewhere (and made loosely by many a long time ago) they are all connected to eachother as constants. they create one wicked circle of constants and without everyone the string is broken and as a result someone's constant may die
jane_eire 02-29-2008, 11:30 AM Kate: We have to go back for him.
Charlie: Go back. There? Kate, there's a certain gargantuan quality about this thing.
Jack: We don't have time to sort out everybody's god.
Charlie: Really, last I heard we were positively made of time.
Boone: There was a woman... I was trying to... did you get her? You gotta go back.
Claire: People don't seem to look me in the eye here. I think I scare them. The baby. It's like I'm this time bomb of responsibility just waiting to go off.
Charlie: It's all lined up Liam... this is our comeback.
Liam: Charlie, I don't want to come back.
Sawyer: Well, it's about time, cowboy.
Jack: I'm not letting him do this.
Kate: Not letting him?
Jack: Not again.
Rose: It's a fine line between denial and faith. It's much better on my side.
Boone: This isn't the first time is it?
Whispers: It'll come back around.
Sayid: Maybe we should go back?
Shannon: I don't want to go back.
Young Tom: Okay uh... this is Kate Austin and Tom Brennan and this is um... our dedication for our time capsule here...
Airport Security: Back of the line.
Hurley: I don't really get the whole.. time change thing, but I've got to make that flight.
Electromagnetic Anomoly 02-29-2008, 01:36 PM Perhaps Minkowski died in his trip to la la land...
Thus resulting in his inability to return. His sub-
conscious death resulted in his real time death.
Kinda like the ol' tale that if you die in your dreams
you die in your sleep. Something like that.
