View Full Version : Charles Widmore's Boat.. MinnieVanMommie 03-06-2008, 10:37 PM trying to find the island...but it isnt penny's boat? bawstngrl 03-07-2008, 12:38 AM trying to find the island...but it isnt penny's boat? I doubt Penny knows about this boat...even though it is her DaD'S quizzical 03-07-2008, 04:52 AM We don't know that it is Widmore's boat. We know that Widmore once beat up a guy, that the moment was caught on tape for some reason, at that now Ben has the tape. We know Widmore might be looking for the island based on information found in the Black Rock diary. We know that Penny Widmore knows how to contact the boat and that it is not her boat. But we shouldn't believe the boat is Widmore's just because Ben, the world's greatest liar, said so. MinnieVanMommie 03-07-2008, 12:33 PM we also have to wonder if Ben is at all telling the truth to Locke in connecting those dots. I think Charles loves his daughter enough to "hide" his real truth in finding the island..which would be to help his daughter. I believe that a fathers love for their child knows no bounds. Penny knows about the island, of course her father would know about it also. RodimusBen 03-07-2008, 01:05 PM It's always a crapshoot, but I do think Ben was telling the truth this time. Widmore's involvement just makes too much sense. But yeah, it's been concretely established that the freighter is not Penny's... She and her father are operating on completely different agendas. It's questionable how much either of them even knows about the other's activities. Cluck 03-07-2008, 01:08 PM It is not Penny's boat. It may be Widmore's. Penny is yet another character with Daddy issues Jack Sawyer 03-07-2008, 01:12 PM I really hope the part about a John Locke Island Side-show was just an appeal to Locke's gullibility. That part seemed kinda hokey to me. Herk 03-07-2008, 01:59 PM Ben is a liar and John cannot help falling for it. It's a joke. RodimusBen 03-07-2008, 04:31 PM True, but I think he does get a little more skeptical each time. But really, he should have clued in a little more by now and I can't believe Ben's continual ability to manipulate him. Uvajed 03-07-2008, 08:39 PM Does anyone know what Penny's professional background is? RodimusBen 03-08-2008, 10:57 AM Ben is a liar and John cannot help falling for it. It's a joke. But think about it-- Locke was basically out of options at this point. He was at a dead end. And as much as he's tried to get information out of Ben when he was locked in the cellar, it just wasn't happening. At this point, if he wanted to advance his agenda at all, he had to cater to some of Ben's requests. LilMissRabbit 03-08-2008, 01:36 PM I do remember Naomi said that she had been contacted by Penelope, but never actually met her - it is possible, maybe, that Widmore the Elder contracted Abbadon to hire the freighter folk, perhaps pretending to be Penny for some reason, and had the picture of Desmond simply because he stole it from his daughter. What makes less sense to me is that it seems like only Naomi was actually hired to find Desmond - the others don't seem to recognize him at all. It actually seems like each of the freighter folk was sent for a different reason, to learn something else about the island. Herk 03-08-2008, 03:27 PM But think about it-- Locke was basically out of options at this point. He was at a dead end. Maybe consults with a few of our friends like Claire or Sawyer. Instead he deals with the devil. Pythagoras99 03-08-2008, 03:38 PM I really hope the part about a John Locke Island Side-show was just an appeal to Locke's gullibility. That part seemed kinda hokey to me. Well, I didn't take it to mean that Widmore was going to start selling tickets, and set up the island as a tourist attraction. I think he meant that the island has actual supernatural powers, and that if masses of people flock to see something of a highly questionable supernatural natural, then of course people want to find the island, which is the real thing. Some would, just to appreciate it, Widmore, like Ben, would to exploit it -- in whatever way. The particular way isn't so important. caforrest2047 03-08-2008, 03:41 PM I think, currently anyway, that Locke and Ben have a similar goal, which of course is to protect the Island, I don't think Ben told Locke everything, when do they ever?, I do think there is at least some truth to what Ben said, imagine how much money people would pay to be cured of cancer, or there disabilities, that seems right up Widmores alley, where as it seems as though Ben was curing good people, Juliets sister was a good person she is, supposedly, cured of her cancer, Locke was healed by the Island itself as was Rose, who were both good people, I'm still waiting to get info on what is seen as good and bad on the Island or by the Island. RodimusBen 03-10-2008, 06:28 PM God forbide he calls a town meeting to figure out the next step. Maybe consults with a few of our friends like Claire or Sawyer. Instead he deals with the devil. What exactly would that accomplish? I admit the town meeting idea is kinda cool, but Claire, Hurley, etc. have no idea what's going on-- they have less of a handle on things than Locke does. masterben 03-10-2008, 09:07 PM Windmore clearly has more money then god and if finding the island is that important why send a boat that small and crappy does not even have proper brig. I know he does not need to send super secret spy boat and all ,but maybe crappy on out side but on inside spend the money |
