View Full Version : She's Mine
Sawyers Mojito 03-06-2008, 11:05 PM Wow!!
Ben's Posessivenes of Juliet was Suspected, but WOW!
At first it was cute, at the dinner, but when he took her to Goodwin totally creepy,
and omg Jacket is just so sweet! (OT I know)
So do you think Ben and Juliet are Married?
Fintrainer 03-06-2008, 11:07 PM No way. He just thinks that he can control everyone around him.
Earendil 03-06-2008, 11:13 PM Yea. That was a creepy scene.
jennylee27 03-06-2008, 11:13 PM "You're mine" is easily the most creepy line Ben has ever stated on this show. I got chills. He thinks he owns her. Most of the time he seems cool and calculated - but about Juliet? Scary irrational. That flip is really frightening.

Dude I thought Ben's act although I loved in Season 2 and 3 was awesome in season 3 I was getting tired of but this definately stepped it up a notch to unbelievable heights with his Juliet obsession. And although we see Jack safe in the future I am still worried about him b/c as we know Ben is in the future too.
Selene1212 03-06-2008, 11:35 PM Ben is obviously a virgin. ;)

I fear for Juliet. We don't know where she is in the future -- maybe this time he killed her instead of her lover. :frown: I think Jack is safe -- he and Ben (and Locke?) will be the joint force that saves the island at the end of the series, IMO.
Amber the Hun 03-06-2008, 11:39 PM Ben is obviously a virgin. ;)
LOL!
Well, if you're going to be as picky as he apparently is - wanting his lovers to look like his (most likely) dead childhood sweetheart - and you live on a deserted island...
adam8023 03-06-2008, 11:39 PM Ben is a :censored:, a :badwords: and a creep!
Sawyers Mojito 03-06-2008, 11:50 PM He really seemed sad.. he loved her but she didn't love him back. Very Beauty and The Beast IMO (Without the Beats being her true Love...)
I mean at the dinner i thought OMG *squee* look how cute Ben is all nervous! then when he said You're Mine.. It gave me chills
100%
This really puts the You Never Made me a Cheeseburger into perspective I still wonder if Julie is trapped into a marriage with him. They have some sort of hustory of that I'm Certain.
gradyboy37 03-06-2008, 11:54 PM I loved this line! Ben is such a creep and I love it! I find it so fascinating that the man who knows the most about what's actually going on (besides maybe Widmore...) is so incredibly immature about some things. He's like 6 year-old and a 66-year-old at the same time. (YIKES- 666- that was unintentional, but so true about Ben)
BrothaJefe316 03-07-2008, 12:05 AM Ben is obviously a virgin. ;)
Hahaha! I thought the *exact* same thing!
Luanne 03-07-2008, 12:12 AM LOL!

Juliet looks like his mother, especially when she was dressed up to look like Alice from Alice in Wonderland in The Man Behind the Curtain.

EEEEWWWWWWWW...extra creepy......no wonder they needed a shrink on the island!!
Ben is even creepier when he's trying to be nice than when he's being not nice.
Itsalldark 03-07-2008, 01:00 AM Ben is a :censored:, a :badwords: and a creep!
I'm not one to use such colorful language, but I totally agree with you!

You're right! I never realized that before. That makes it all the more creepy! eeeewwww :eek2::eek:
lihab 03-07-2008, 01:24 AM now i want an animated gif of ben opening the door for juliet. his face was priceless.
BillToons 03-07-2008, 01:39 AM I wonder if he ever gave her one of those little Valentine's day heat candies, you know the pink and yellow etc. ones you gave out as kids, that had "Be Mine" stamped on it?
;)
rabidranger 03-07-2008, 01:44 AM The question is: How does Ben feel about Juliet RIGHT NOW. IMO, part of his "insurrection" speech to Locke was referencing Juliet. My guess is we're going to get to a point where Ben gets wise to the level of Juliet's feelings for Jack and takes her out. Kind of a "if I can't have her no one can" angle.

I agree. At the beginning, there seemed to be genuine affection from Ben. The crush was weird, but a little sweet. By the end, the genuineness was gone and it seemed to just be about insanity and possession. She's not with him, she's his.
I think this is setting up to be a plot point in the future. This whole episode was basically focused on the progression of Ben's obsession with no resolution (this actually seemed more like a Ben ep than a Juliet ep- I think that was one of the reasons it isn't my favorite. She spent the whole episode just reacting to his progression. It felt misfocused). There was also a mobisode about his feelings for her. Particularly since the episode ended with Juliet telling Jack about Ben's obsession and him basically saying he can try, I think this is setting up to be a bigger current time issue with Ben, Juliet, and Jack.

I think we're probably meant to jump to this conclusion and while a tragic death for Juliet wouldn't surprise me, I just don't think Ben gets his kicks that way.
He wants to own her and will do anything for it, but I think he wants her alive. I jokingly said in the spoiler thread that I'm getting a Rapunzel flashback, but now that I think about it... Juliet being Ben's "prisoner", Stepford-wife type in some Swiss chalet is another scenario that comes to mind. The off Island losties have all turned into their Through The Looking Glass mirror image. Maybe this is Juliet's and is part of her deal, just like being his henchman is for Sayid.
rebelscum 03-07-2008, 03:31 AM this is the first time we can say Ben has been foiled.
everything else, the writers can always make out that it was his plan to be defeated all along.
but his plan was definitely for Juliette to fall for him.

Well, gee... if he didn't want a Goodwin 2.0 Only Hotter situation, maybe he shouldn't have put Juliet in charge of the hot prisoner who's the anti-Ben. It makes sense though that his psycho little brain cannot comprehend some simple truths about human nature.

Nice. I mentioned in another thread that It is the first time we've seen Ben have an interest to rival the Island and i didn't necessarily like it. You're post makes even better sense...some foreshadowing of things to come perhaps

unless his long term plan is for Juliette to fall for Jack, and to run back into Bens hands when Jack rejects her for Kate.
Shillelagh61 03-07-2008, 04:46 AM There was also a mobisode about his feelings for her.
Which one was it? I must re-watch it. Thanks.
BrothaJefe316 03-07-2008, 07:28 AM EEEEWWWWWWWW...extra creepy......no wonder they needed a shrink on the island!!
What's interesting is that the actress that played Ben's mother is actually Michael Emerson's real-world wife... Emerson frequently quips in interviews how Freudian that is...
And now, his fictional love interest is said to (possibly) look like his fictional mother, played who is played by his actual wife... How's that for twisted?
100%

Yep. Totally. Even the most powerful and strong, those who seem unbeatable, have their fatal flaws. Even Achilles had his heel.
-calypso- 03-07-2008, 08:13 AM but his plan was definitely for Juliette to fall for him.
What you"re saying makes me think of what ben said to jack: "i want you to want to save me" i think he didn't succeed...
Poor guy ...he only wants people to like him but it doesn't seem to work...
Sawyers Mojito 03-07-2008, 09:56 AM This is very closely tired to my Phantom of The Opera Thread.. no love for her, he just wants to own her.
wanders01 03-07-2008, 10:18 AM This totally creeped me out. Now I realize that everyone on this island has "issues" of one kind or another but I just moved Ben back up to the top.
I'm thinkin' he got together with Annie after all and in the process she died because of him getting her pregnant. So then he searched out and found not only someone who reminds him of Annie but is a doctor also in the field of research that could have saved Annie.
