View Full Version : Ben Will WIN
Diesels Blitz 03-06-2008, 11:06 PM Ben already got himself free. You can see the confidence in his walk that he knows exactly what he is doing. We already know he does manage to get off the island and starts to destroy (with Sayid's help) Widmore and company. This man is incredible!
How do you think Ben will win? I think he will successfully destroy Widmore and company and regain his island. Nothing can stop him. Period.
MEDuell 03-06-2008, 11:08 PM I don't know how Ben will win, but as long as he has a patsy in Locke, I don't see how he can lose.
Eight 03-06-2008, 11:09 PM Well I'm not sure of how he will win but obviously the "Army" (Flight 815 et al) will fight the freighties along with the Templar others.
In CD I said that Sawyer's line about Ben already knowing how he was going to get them was VERY IMPORTANT as it set up the end of the story.
This was the best line of the episode. I think I literally said "sweeeet" out-loud.
lostgurl 03-06-2008, 11:10 PM I've no idea how, but I know he will.. specially with the help of Sayid (and whoever else he manages to recruit). Widmore will be tough though, I wonder if he's involved with Paik?
ryan0905 03-06-2008, 11:11 PM The way everything is going with that side of the island I don't see it ending well. Locke is being manipulated like crazy. Why would he let Ben go? Ben shot him in the gut a week ago. Sometimes I think Locke deserves to be conned... it's just too easy.

Very true! Ben always has a plan, and it almost always works. Have we actually seen anyone "break" Ben?
Well, especially since he's been held captive by them before, and we all know he got out of that. Locke really should know better, but I guess he is a born mark.

Ben wins simply by existing. He's the good guy, you know.
As a general rule, I hesitate to theorize at all about Ben, for the simple reason that there's just so little to go on. The number of possibilities with him is practically endless. But I do agree with Juliet, Ben will win. Widmore doesn't know who he's dealing with.
Diesels Blitz 03-06-2008, 11:23 PM Someone made a great point on another thread. They think that Juliet may be the key to his downfall. At this point, I think that's the only way Ben will fail, if someone uses his own tactics against him. Remember the line: "I find out what people are emotionally invested in and exploit it."
jennylee27 03-06-2008, 11:32 PM DB, good call on bringing up that line. Ben will probably win eventually -- but not right away. Not until after he is forced to leave the island.... oh yeah, and not until Jack, Kate, Hurley and whoever else made it off join up with Sayid and take Ben on as their leader. It's so crazy to think about. Ben WILL win, but not without the help of all those others.
Selene1212 03-06-2008, 11:54 PM Locke just wants a friend.
Diesels Blitz 03-07-2008, 12:13 AM DB, good call on bringing up that line. Ben will probably win eventually -- but not right away. It's crazy to think about how many times he could have died. Ana-Lucia in the hatch, Sayid in the hatch, Jack putting the gun to him in "I Do", and more recently Locke in "Confirmed Dead." Nobody could do it. Maybe it really is fate in a way because he will be the ultimate good guy in the end and the savior of the island.
Good call on the teamwork that will be required though. He won't be able to do everything himself. Maybe they will all return to the island in the end and help rebuild the Others civilization.
adam8023 03-07-2008, 12:17 AM The only thing Ben will win will be a nice, padded room and a strait jacket.

those things are nice. like a constant tight hug from yourself.
girlgoescrazy 03-07-2008, 03:33 AM Juliet knows Ben is going to win because she knows he saw himself win, and he already lived through all that. Whether he is unstuck in time, or if Jacob's unstuck in time and telling Ben what had, will and has to happen, I don't know at all...But one thing I do know, as a writer and someone potentially close to the writers is that Ben is going to prove to be a good guy...You know, Ben psycho who likes his mom and lives for Juliet is not going to work even with the most mediocre of viewers.
quizzical 03-07-2008, 05:19 AM I think Ben will get the partial victory. At the end of the series my guess is that he's going to be left alive, on his island. But he's going to end up broken and alone. Think Prince Humperdink at the end of Princess Bride.
benos 03-07-2008, 05:23 AM Ben is set free, and this also completes the mystery around Saiyd working for him.
RodimusBen 03-07-2008, 07:41 AM YES! I was thinking the same thing. I love how Harper said "Ben is exactly where he wants to be," because he always has a plan for getting out of things.
What I wonder is, are he and John actually going to work together now for a common cause, and stop being adversarial? I don't know what Ben has left to fear from John, if Ben has truly been abandoned by his people.
axpo23 03-07-2008, 09:01 AM But I do agree with Juliet, Ben will win. Widmore doesn't know who he's dealing with.
But apparently Miles does....
I think this thread deserves a "Bwaaahaaaahaaaa" (from Ben, of course!)
100%

I absolutely agree. But maybe after all of this, he'll want to be alone. Just him and Jacob.
