I am thinking that Ben is smokey. What do you guy's think?

Probably because he supposedly spoke with Harper , is that her name, while he was locked up in Locke's basement. But I'm wondering if he gave any orders at all...

Juliet saying that Ben made Harper appear to her. It sort of makes sense as Ben seems to know everything about everybody.

Or Harper was the smoke monster intent on killing everyone on the island because it would eliminate the threat to the island.

Ben knows everything about virtually everyone on the island. Ben is very good at getting under everyones skin. Maybe he projects himself like Walt does to manipulate people into doing what he wants. I mean this is Lost and it is possible.

I'm just perplexed by this theory... Ben as Smokey? I don't see it. Not at all. I think it's been made abundantly clear that Ben could never be Smokey. Clearly, Smokey is Aaron.

I was NOT being serious about Aaron. I kind of thought this thread was a joke... do people actually think Ben is Smokey? If so, I'd actually really like to hear a theory.

So because Ben was born he couldn't have developed an ability to perhaps project himself as someone else? Im just saying we know that Walt can be in two places at once. What if Ben has a similar talent that he has honed and is able to project his will in the form of someone else. Is that so far-fetched?

Ben can take the shape of people and animals? Ben can fly? Ben can destroy tons of forest area? Ben can know details about people's life that would NOT be in files like the cat Sayid saw, the horse cat saw and all the stuff Remi said to Eko. Not to mention a fench he lives behind also keeps him out of his own home and he has not done anything to ensure its not functioning anymore?

Ben is certainly being portrayed as some sort of demigod. I thought when he told Locke he was going to have to "show" him, he was going to grow horns and fangs and then blast him with a lightning bolt from his eyes.

No. I don't have any evidence. Its just a theory but it kinda seemed like the direction the story was going tonight. Juliet certainly seemed to think that seeing Harper was something Ben made happen. Ben knows Jacks history, Sawyers history and certainly Locke's history etc.. If he isn't the smoke thing then he surely knows how to control it even if he told Locke that he had no idea what the smoke monster was. I think seeing the smoke monster take shape of animals would probably be the easiest thing for Ben to do.

Contol it is another thing and I could be on board for that but not him being the smoke monster. Although thinking about it, I don't agree with that either. Cause to many situations have envolved Ben depending on others and if he really could control the monster then why would he need to convince others to help him?

If he was the smoke monster he would not need to be vunerable. He would not need to have others do his work for him. He would just do it himself.

Since we know that, we can assume through logic that Ben IS NOT the smoke. BUT, Ben knows the island inside and out now, and I have now assumed that he runs the entire island and can control Smokey. I think Smokey and Jacob have a direct correalation since Jacob was not in the rock circle when Locke tried to lead his group of Losties to Jacob's at the beginning of the season; Ben didn't want Locke to find Jacob, so he made Smokey not make the cabin appear. Ben made the smoke monster appear as Harper and relay the message to kill Faraday and Charlotte so they would not disable his gas.

Except if the gas was not disabled everyone on the island would have died. Makes no sense that Ben would want that.

Even tough I don't post much here, I read a lot. A lots of theories are great, even awesome, some are so-so and some others are ridiculous. This one is. Smokey = Sheriff Bufford T. Justice. I guess maybe we'll spot The Bandit (Burt Reynolds) Run around the island with is black thunderbird? Who knows!
