View Full Version : We finally found Ben's one and only weakness.... Juliet. I can't wait to see it play out.
Islandtracker 03-06-2008, 11:18 PM Juliet reminds Ben of someone in his past and he is obsessed in love with her. I totally see towards the end of the series Juliet helping taking down Ben once and for all and maybe even being a sacrifice for the group.
Diesels Blitz 03-06-2008, 11:20 PM You make a great point. Using Ben's own tactics against himself might cause his downfall. Remember Ben's line: "I find out what people are emotionally invested in and exploit it."
LostLaura 03-06-2008, 11:21 PM I already started a thread on this. A mod will hopefully combine.

I believe that Juliet may sacrifice herself so that Jack can escape. Her sacrifice might be death or it might be remaining on the island. Ben will let the O6 leave, or whatever, if Juliet stays with him.
She saw Goodwyn die because of Ben's jealousy over her. She'd rather stay with Ben and let her new love, Jack, live than to try and leave with Jack and know that Ben will somehow kill Jack.
Lunch 03-06-2008, 11:24 PM I agree, this episode (even though Jules didn't get a flash forward) made me think that Juliet is going to be around for awhile and get pretty good storylines and I couldn't be happier.

Awesome reference!!! I so see that coming back to haunt him in the future. WOOT WOOT!

Sorry I did not see it  I see that scenario happening.

I agree but I have a feeling she dies at the end (maybe even a sacrifice for the other survivors.

Maybe Juliet is why Jack is tring so hard to get back to Island! And drinking so much, And popping pills! He was acting kinda lovesick if you think back on it.

I think Jack is wanting to get back to everyone on the island. Jack see's the survivors as his people and feels extremely guilty if anyone dies or is left behind on his watch. He also might know Claire is his sister and Aaron his nephew. Not to mention he is romantically interested in Kate in the future (Egg town and looking glass showed this) so I am thinking Juliet might have betrayed his trust or it didn't stay romanctic for long to still have him want Kate.JMHO
LostLaura 03-06-2008, 11:41 PM No worries islandtracker. :)
It's hard for me to believe, after seeing this episode, that Juliet will betray Jack's trust. I finally truly believe her and trust her.
But I suppose you never know.
imaaronsmom 03-06-2008, 11:43 PM I remember when we were first introduced to the scene with the bookclub, I thought Ben and Juliette had been in a relationship at one time. Now I can see that it was all onesided on Ben's part.
PINK FREUD 03-06-2008, 11:52 PM Actually, I remember that Tom once told Jack that "they have history", in the operation scene...he was implying they were;), I thought...
LostLaura 03-06-2008, 11:54 PM Well a lot of people thought they might have been involved, but a lot of people also just thought that Ben had a crush on her. Apparently he was actually OBSESSED with her. Creepy. So creepy.
I think this episode adds a lot of layers to the scene when we see Juliet begging Ben to let her go (in his kitchen last season). "I can't do that."

That "history" could be Juliet being bitter towards him after Goodwins death. I really don't see after that scene where Juliet has pure hatred for Ben kneeling at Goodwin's corpse them having a romantic history together and it seems they did not before that. I think its all one sided with Ben's obsession with her.
100%

OMG that scene I so have to watch now because even though it was emotional the first time around I bet it is even more this time around after seeing this eppi.

This is definitely plausible. The other option, which I hate, is that Ben kills Juliet in a jealous rage. Ugh, that would be awful. :frown:

That makes sense. And gives Jack even more of a desperate incentive to go back.
lostgurl 03-07-2008, 12:05 AM Ok, I just wanna say that I never expected this out of Ben. This just makes him even creepier. How I love Ben.

Totally!!! My thoughts as well.

Either that, or she gets capped in the next episode a la Charlie meeting the reaper after "Greatest Hits" last season... This episode really did seem to me like it was kind of filling in some gaps with her story... nothing real earth shattering or shocking was revealed in her FB's. I don't think it's the case... and in fact, I think J will be around for awhile, but... it's possible.

Him killing Juliet would not make me happy either :frown:
LostLaura 03-07-2008, 03:08 PM The scary thing is that Ben killing Juliet would not be out of character..... Not just because we know he's a murderer, but because we sadly hear on the news all the time that jealous, abusive, obssessive husbands/boyfriends kill their wives/girlfriends in a rage.... :(
-calypso- 03-07-2008, 03:14 PM JUliette is not the only weakness Ben has...there's also Alex.
LilMissRabbit 03-07-2008, 03:28 PM I think any hold Alex had over Ben is pretty much gone now that she's basically picked her mother over him - he told her as much when he took her with him to intercept Jack and co. He seems to have more or less written her off as a result of her choices.
What's got me curious is that scene in the Hydra where Jack threatens Juliet and Ben doesn't seem to mind - is Ben bluffing? Does he just not feel that Jack will kill Juliet and give up his only advantage in the situation? After that scene, I began to detect a bit of a grudge towards Ben on Juliet's part, but after last night's episode, I suppose it's been around for a lot longer.

I think Alex likes Ben after all...when Sawyer wanted to kill him she was worried about him. And whatever Alex think...Ben likes her like a daughter.

Yeah a very mysterious scene for me too...Ben was he bluffing or not? that's the question! lol  I still don't know! lol
LostLaura 03-07-2008, 03:38 PM I thought of that scene last night, too. And I think that he was bluffing and didn't think Jack would actually hurt Juliet. And he was right.
100%
It's not that Alex "likes" Ben. It's that he raised her, she's the only parent she's ever known. It would be very traumatic to see your father in that kind of situation.
