View Full Version : Right where they want to be.
Selene1212 03-07-2008, 12:20 AM Miles told Kate he was right where he wanted to be and Harper told Juliet that Ben is right where he wants to be. Coincidence? Connection?
And does Miles still have that grenade in his mouth 3 weeks later!!??!
Electromagnetic Anomoly 03-07-2008, 12:23 AM It seems Ben would be happy with Widmore dead.
And, Miles would lie to him and say he's dead for the right price.
It seems they both have no problem betraying Widmore.

I don't know what it means but I think its important. Good catch!
This reminds me of the line in Eggtown about Miles saying that he knew who Ben was while Kate was asking Miles if he knew who she was. I'm not sure of the significance.
And as for Miles did you mean three days? I think it has been a couple days since he "ate" the grenade.
OhNoTheOthers 03-07-2008, 12:31 AM There seems to be a lot of, for lack of a better word, strategery going on. Miles knows who Ben is, maybe he likes the way Ben plays the game and he is trying to think or act like him. Ben shall call him "Mini-Me"...
Selene1212 03-07-2008, 12:45 AM And as for Miles did you mean three days? I think it has been a couple days since he "ate" the grenade. When I said 3 weeks it was kind of a joke (because of how long ago the episode was), but seriously, how long can his muscles hold that grenade clamped?
cubunit 03-07-2008, 02:13 AM Did anyone else find it odd that Ben and Miles are both "exactly where they want to be"?
Tommy 03-07-2008, 02:15 AM Not so odd with Ben, Ben always has a plan. Miles though, yeah, a little odd.
cubunit 03-07-2008, 02:18 AM but "exactly where he/I want to be" is the exact same quote.
Inkydoo 03-07-2008, 02:19 AM I did notice that... Locke thinks he is in control, but all his prisoners are "exactly where they want to be'!
Selene1212 03-07-2008, 02:22 AM I actually posted this same thread awhile ago, but it got buried. Yes, it's very odd.
cubunit 03-07-2008, 02:26 AM But we know ..or it seems..that they are on opposite sides. Are they both trying to play Locke to reach their end goal?
golf_fan 03-07-2008, 02:58 AM Thtis line struck me too, and I thought that both Miles and Ben seem very direct in their apporach to getting what they want. Neither is afraid of throwing themselves into the hornets' nest, so to speak.
I think this line is further foreshadowing of a Ben/ Miles agreement, cooperation in the near future. Perhaps Ben will convince Miles to turn on his operation for Widmore and aid Ben in the sabotage mission. (I am a SPOILER FREE lostie, so this is strictly my take).
The line really made me feel that Ben and Miles are not so different and their similarities will bring them together, first against Locke, then Widmore.

I agree. Obviously Miles is willing to sell out his committment to abaddon or whoever he works for and could easily strike a deal with Ben. What about the concept that "3.2 million" was a code? Does that support this idea?

I really have no opinion on the 3.2 million line specifically because it is grounded in too much speculation. However, I will be the first to admit that there seemed to be a non-verbal connection between Ben and Miles in that scene, and one that struck me as the type of connection you make with someone you first meet who is like minded. Sometimes, you just get that instant "click" with another person, and it often turns out this because of common ground and/ or like mindedness.
With those two, it seemed like they picked up the hidden meanings pretty quick. This is part of the reason I don't side with the 3.2 million being just money, but I don't know about the code thing either...
All of those things support this idea, so I suppose the 3.2 million, either as a code or an actual dollar amount, is wrapped up in this too. So sure, it supports the idea, directly or indirectly ;)

I agree. In fact, I think there's a chance that they are akready have some sort of agreement. I think the 3.2 million dollar coversation was all code.

agreed!
PinkElephants 03-07-2008, 09:18 AM These statements struck me they were in direct contrast to Desmond's cry last week "I'm not supposed to be here."
(4.8.15.16.23.42) 03-07-2008, 10:59 AM Ben shall call him "Mini-Me"...
Hehehe, well said!
Diddt 03-07-2008, 11:02 AM I think that Harper was sent out to find Juliette by Miles. First of all she said that Ben is exactly where he wants to be, Miles said the exact same thing to Kate in Eggtown. Plus Miles did tell Ben that he would take care of Charlotte and having Juliette and Jack shoot her is definately one way of accomplishing that. Finally if Ben convets Juliette as much as it is suggested would he really risk having her being gased? So in other words Miles can talk or maybe even control Smokey.

Who does number two work for!!

BuffyMars 03-07-2008, 11:42 AM Yes, the second she said that, my mind went right back to when Miles said the same thing to Kate...I don't know what it means, but it means something.
jacobislocke 03-07-2008, 11:48 AM i think the important fact is that they are both behind Locke... now i'm just waiting for the part where Ben brings Locke back to Jacob and this whole Revolution thing could start rolling... as for the ghostbuster, i think he knows something about the Island and would rather be on Ben and Locke's side protecting the island than Widmore's side exploiting the island...
headmusic 03-07-2008, 12:11 PM How would Ben know far enough ahead of time where to send Harper to find Juliet, that Juliet would be tracking them alone and where she would be, and where Daniel and Charlotte would be going, from the confines of Locke's basement, unless he either has visions like Desmond does or somehow knows how to use the time travel factor to his advantage?
It seems to me that he's nearly always ahead of the curve. And not just in a calculating evil genius kind of way. The only thing that makes me hesitate on that theory is that if he were able to see the future then he would surely know that sending Juliet to the Tempest would run her into Jack and judging by just how deep his feelings (I use that term loosely) for Juliet are, I would think he would not want that unless that was just the best option for him in that situation.
Miles saying something very similar makes me think he has some post-present information himself. We know he can talk to the dead, and there's been plenty of dearly departed people with knowledge of the island and it's inhabitants to choose from.
On a side note, I thought Ben's comment to Juliet during that creepy ham-baking scene about how they have no control over who's on "the list" when they were talking about children who I assume were kidnapped from the tail-section survivors was interesting. He said it like it wasn't his call. Like it was Jacob's wish to grab these kids.
And I also thought the part about Juliet discovering that white blood cells were killing the embryo during pregnancies was very intriguing as well. We know that the island somehow cures people when it comes to cancer or the inability to conceive or paralysis. Or, at least, it increases the body's ability to heal. I guess that's what's working against pregnancies that it would force the mother's body to treat the pregnancy like a disease.
A lot of strands in the ole Duder's head. A lot of ins, a lot of outs, a lot of what-have-you.
100%
Another thing I forgot to mention as far as Ben's fore-knowledge. I already suspected he knew ahead of time who was on the plane, and the way he reacted to Juliet telling him that Jack was a well-qualified spinal surgeon only solidified it, but now that we know how he felt about Juliet's love interest it makes it even more apparent to me that he has knowledge of the future, at least to some extent. I mean, the plane had just fallen from the sky when he sent Haywood (is that right? I can't remember his name) to the tail section. That just sounds to me like he knew what would ultimately happen to him if he did, which means he must have already known everything about who was going to be in that camp, or he actually knew how events would play out.

Ben doesn't need to have direct knowledge of the future, if he's taking orders from someone who does. ie Jacob.

Right, and that makes sense in nearly every regard except for knowing to send Juliet's love interest to his certain death in that moment that the plane is falling from the sky. Unless that in some way is Jacob rewarding Ben, that to me seemed personal and not in Jacob's or the Island's best interest.
RodimusBen 03-07-2008, 12:49 PM I think it's a case of hinting that there is a lot of manipulation and agendas going on.
BTW, I'm going with the idea that Harper was the Smoke Monster.

Oh this is hilarious. Thanks for the mental image!
Has anyone else noticed that there are a lot of funny posts this time on the Fuselage? It's like we needed a little comic relief and we got it in odd places during this episode.

cubunit 03-07-2008, 11:41 PM great idea..again total opposites.

Wow - nice catch. It gives a whole new meaning to "I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be"
