In the file Ben has of Widmore, do you think there is any mention of Desmond? I know it's a bit of a stretch. It seems unlikely that the name of his daugher's boyfriend would be in there. His sailing race would have to be in there though, and wouldn't the names of those who entered be in as well? Of course this information means nothing until Ben meets Desmond in person and finds out he's on the island, but this opens up a lot of scenarios.

If Ben finds out Desmond is dating Widmore's daughter- look out! I can see a scenario where Ben holds Penny hostage or something, or even team up with her to nail her father. But even the little things too: Did Ben know Desmond was in the Swan hatch for 3 years? He certainly didn't know of his boat. He did have access to the Pearl which showed footage of the Swan. Don't you think he would've found out who Desmond was and saw the Widmore link?

I'm sure that Ben knows who Desmond is. The Others probably eavesdropped on the conversations between Desmond and Kelvin, and I'm sure at some point Desmond mentioned Penny and Charles Widmore to Kelvin...and Ben would have gotten it on video.

What I'd like to see is Desmond confront Ben in regard to how much Ben knows about what the Widmores have been up to for the past three years ever since Desmond washed up on Craphole Island.

Maybe Ben spent a lot of time in the pearl station to hear what Desmond had to say about widmore...maybe Kelvin's job was to make Desmond talk ...

i don't know but i'm sure Ben knows Desmond otherwiseit won't be logical...the guy knows the pearl station and knows that Jack was in the swan station so i'm sure he knew about Kelvin and Desmond! makes me think of Radzinski ...maybe Ben knew him...i'm still dying to know what happened with this guy why did he commit suicide apparently! Did he succeed?

I get the impression that Ben doesnt know about Desmond. If he had heard Desmond and Kelvin talking about Charles and Penny wouldnt Ben have wanted to talk to him immediately? It doesnt seem like Ben to let a reliable source about his enemy just in the hatch.

I think the file on Widmore probably had some mention of Desmond, but to Ben that didnt mean anything, but now that Locke has it he'll obviously recognize the name. I think sooner or later Ben will find out Desmond's connection and I think we'll get some good stuff out of that; I think a Desmond and Ben scene would be very interesting. I'm sure it's just a conincidence, but Desmond, Sayid and Ben are together off to the side of the promo picture, hmmm...

I am under the impression that Ben knows everything, so I would think that he knows about Desmond. It might be that Desmond isn't of importance to him or that he is letting Desmond do what he's doing because that is bringing Widmore to the Island, which I actually believe is what Ben wants to happen.

Definitely Ben's ignorance of Desmond has been conspicuous, and I agree things will happen when he learns of him. Locke, now knowing of Ben's fear of Widmore, may have a clue not to reveal Desmond to him, or at least use that as trade bait.

Unless Kelvin was an inside man of Ben's, I don't think Ben knows any more about Desmond than he knew about Naomi.

I don't think this can work though, remember Kelvin tried to leave on an unknown boat.

Is it so far-fetched to believe that Ben and The Others left Desmond and Kelvin alone because they wanted them to keep pushing the button...and interrogating them might have interfered with that.

We know The Others have been spying on the Swan station through the video cameras. I can't see how Ben wouldn't know who Desmond is (unless Desmond went for three years without mentioning Charles or Penny to Kelvin).
