I had a Korean student in my office the other day named Ji Yeon, so of course I asked her this very question. She said Ji means wisdom and Yeon means flowers. Pretty name for a daughter of Sun's.

Oh that is so beautiful! Thank you, Dez.

That is beautiful. Now I wonder what it 'means' to the plot?

The child has the wisdom of the island and is as rare as those red flowers? ;)

Oh how sweet. Jin loved to give Sun flowers...

Wikipedia now has a page translating this to "heavenly patience'. Same questions still arise.

Assuming this is another translation, it could mean that with patience, Ji Yeon will see her father again. I sure hope so.

Methinks that something is fishy about Jin's supposed death. I hope I'm right...would love to see him be alive somehow and get to see his daughter.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Patience Sun and Ji Yeon, patience....

What do "David Hasselhoff" or "Lindsey Lohan" mean in English?

Are you implying that names cannot be translated? All names have origins and meanings and those meanings, of course, can be translated. In your example using the first names only the origin of the name "David" is Hebrew and means "beloved" and "Lindsey" is English and means "From The Lake Settlement Island." Just saying... :)

Benjamin Linus means "Flaxen colored son of my right hand" but did anyone
ask for a translation?

Does "Jemima" relate to doves, beauty, or pancakes? Maybe all three or maybe her
mom just liked the sound of the name. ;)

Does anyone know what "Edward Kitsis & Adam Horowitz" translate to?

Perhaps you have just started watching but the names of the characters in this show do have meanings.

Not sure what your question is or what you are trying to imply here???

Locke and Hume would be 2 examples.

Desmond = "from South Munster"

So full of meaning. ;)

I don't think that it is so important that it is a character name as it is that it is the title of the episode.

Many of the episode names, starting with "The Pilot", have had hidden or secondary meaning. The recent "The Other Woman" had several references.

Most people familar with this fact would be curious if the title name for this episode also held secondary meaning.

I wondered this same thing myself.
