Regina's upside down book. By Jules Verne.

The story of a ship where there are murders, suicides, and general mayhem. The ship goes down eventually and the survivors end up in a lifeboat.

Hmmm.......

Wow! I love all of the literary connections that the writers sneak in there. Thanks for the info!

Thanks, I was wondering what book it was. Interesting choice, although I can't say I'm familiar with that particular book.

If the Kahana follows the Chancellor, it is doomed.

Maybe rescue comes from elsewhere.

Since she was reading upside down, I was wondering if it was "My Pet Goat". :D

Curious, if the O6 get back and say only 8 live and 6 off island then what about frank charlotte and daniel. they know this isn't true. Perhaps they are doomed with the above doomed.

BTW, in The Survivors of the Chancellor - the Captain resigns and the First Mate takes over.

Is Captain Gault the original Captain? Or did he take over or overthrow the Captain?

Indeed, cannibalism is part of the story.

Hopefully, that will be after Lost airs at 10PM - out of the family hour.

I think that's strictly for Zombie Season 7. heh.

As an aside, when her book was upside down, I immediately thought of Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter. heh.

Book spoilers, not Lost. The End....

Of the thirty-two souls--nine passengers, and twenty-three
seamen--who left Charleston on board the ship, only five
passengers and six seamen remain. Eleven of us alone survive.

An official account of our rescue was drawn up by the Brazilian
authorities. Those who signed were Miss Herbey, J. R. Kazallon,
M. Letourneur, Andre Letourneur, Mr. Falsten, the boatswain,
Dowlas, Burke, Flaypole, Sandon, and last, though not least,

"Robert Curtis, captain."

Oceanic 6 = six seaman? Total of 11 survive - 5 passengers? 5 from Locke's camp? are still alive. Grasping at literary straws here, but I love the literarty references

Six 815 survivors and five crewpeople, perhaps.

Not that anyone is going to read this old book but one never knows. It's all available to read on the public domain, but anyway book ending in spoiler box just the same. It seemed the final page of the book may have something to do with Lost.

11 ALONE survive at the end of the book seemed like a clue to me - 6 passengers, Oceanic 6? Who's the 5?

I wouldn't take the occurrences in the book too literally. The significant connection - I think the freighter is out of food (down to lima beans). That would be one reason why the crew wouldn't want Lapidus to bring any survivors on board.

So, apparently, Regina was growing bored while reading the Employee Handbook.

That could be the reason for the bloodstain on the wall.

That part about the life boat got me to thinking- maybe more people will end up in life boats- But the Oceanic 6 will be the only ones whose lifeboat drifts out on the correct coordinates?
