I was watching with Closed Captions on as usual. I'm pretty sure that the doctor that attended Sun said his name was Dr. Paik.

I need to rewatch, but can anyone confirm?

I thought that, too, but I think it was Dr. Park or something. It was similar, but not Paik.

It was Dr. Bae on duty for Dr. Park. But why would her normal doctor be away at a conference? At first I thought it was all a setup.

Not just you - For a minute, I thought Jin had popped in at the last minute and was there for the delivery (when Dr. Bae had the mask on).

I think the new Dr. was sent there by Widmore to steal the island concieved baby.

For plot purposes, the writers probably kept Sun's regular Doc away because of the time issues.

Sun's date of conception probably doesn't match up with the O6 story. So Sun is pretending to be in "early" labor but Ji Yeon's a full-term baby. Sun's doc either is in on it, or the writers didn't want to deal with that yet...
It's flimsy, I know, since the attending doc should have access to Sun's records.. but that's the way tv works.

Also because he wouldnt have known that her husband Jin was not around any more. A fill in doctor not familar with her case and all.

I think the new doc was there just to add some drama to the scene. At least I hope it was b/c if its another mysterious twist I think my brain will explode way before this show ever finishes.
