Which part exactly?

We see the note saying "Don't trust the Captain." So I am assuming those words are pertinent to this episode. What exactly did we learn from Captain Gault, and which part is not to be believed?

That Regina was sick from cabin fever?
That the 815 crash site was staged?
That it was staged by Ben??

Maybe the Captain wants them to think it was Ben who was responsible for staging the fake crash site, to turn them against Ben. If they thought Ben was responsible for no one coming to search for them, they would hate him even more. If the freighties can manage to pit the Losties against Ben too, it just means more fire power for their side, and less people to get in the way when they try to take him down. Not to mention, people who are familiar with the layout of the island. Perhaps Gault is just lying to protect Widmore, his boss.

You have a good point.
This guy doesn't drip with trustworthiness anyway, so it's not like Sayid and Desmond have to be warned against becoming too friendly with him. He just let Regina drop into the ocean -- not a guy that warms the heart.
So back to your question -- they were warned, but why? I was believing everything the captain said, until I read your post. Now I wonder. . .

well i think Michael slipped the note under the door. He was probably brainwashed or something by Ben into thinking that he couldn't trust the captain..
idk im just thinking..but i trust the captain :]

He did let Regina go, but with that chain around her. She would have sunk fast and there really was no saving her. By the time someone geared up and dove she would have been dead from if not drowning the pressure.
His lack of feelings about the whole thing made me wonder. She was a part of his crew.

Given the fact that Michael is Ben's man on the boat, the fact that he says don't trust the captain makes this info suspect. But, given the fact that the captain works for Widmore, that makes anything he says suspect. It doesn't make for a lot of trust, does it?

And this is different from the attitudes of those lovable imps Miles, Daniel, Charlotte, and Frank exactly HOW?

I was thinking the whole time during his little speach whether he was believable he didnt sound like he was trying to dupe anyone over but then again we never know. Sayid and Des were detained by them for pretty much nothing. AND were told by someone, Michael im assuming not to trust him. SO i guess its just a matter of what to trust and what now to trust. I personally dont believe anything any one associated with that crew has to say they all seem to have there agenda and plan on following thru with it no matter who intends on sdtopping them...

This is the new dilema, which is your side? I dont believe Ben put the fake plane, Widmore put it.

Did Regina jump off the freighter before the note was slipped to Sayid and Des? If not, she may have written the note. Maybe we'll see the back of the paper it was written on and it will be from the book she was reading.

I didn't say it was different. Infact I didn't mention them at all. I just said His lack of feelings made me wonder.
