TPTB really hit the jackpot when they decided that Michael Emerson play the role of Ben. I know it's easy to say, but I really don't think anyone else can do a better job for his role on the show.

I'm a huge Ben fan, but I don't believe the captain. It's possible that the story the captain told is what he was told, but I doubt it was the truth. I actually think it's the other way around, Widmore stage the fake crash.

I bet money, in the end Ben isn't the big bad, Widmore is!

Read my signature here. I mean it. Ben is the most interesting character on this show. I read that Jack was supposed to get killed in the pilot, that would have been great cause he suck. Then Kate would have been the leader, wich makes me think it's great that Jack wasn't killed after all. All the great characters in Lost are those who were brought as small part characters but ended up to be main. Most of the main cast are boring and totally uninteresting. Jack, Kate, Locke are sucky. Hurley's good, Claire too and Charlie was... Michael was not...

I have to say Ben is the man. He's on top of his game. He's stringing Locke along and Locke is eating out of his hand. I definitely think Ben is the coolest character on Lost. The creepiest too. I love him!!!!

The last 2 epis have been so-so, but Ben has been amazing. He's what keeps the show going sometimes. And Emerson is awesome!

Widmore's man Gault says that Ben staged the plane crash wreckage. He may be lying, but we just saw an episode in which it was asserted that Ben did it, not Widmore.

Ben is a great character, and Emerson portrays him brilliantly. But, I still love Locke, too, and the scenes where those two go tete-a-tete (like in "Other Woman") are the best.

I totally agree. I wonder if the rumors that he was kept on because fans liked him so much are true. Hard to believe that such an incredible character would have only been written as a temporary foil. It makes you wonder if someone else- maybe Tom was meant to originally be the mastermind.

Well not really fair to say that oh good Jack stayed alive because Kate sucks, because the Kate character would have been much much different. Personally I think Jack staying alive reduced who she is and what she could have been.

But that all aside, the show and characters are developed but there is always wiggle room, and thank goodness they transformed Henry Gale into Ben, because yes he is the greatest, and arguably one of the greatest television characters/bad guys ever on television.

Yeah, Widmore had the resources to retrieve the black box but Ben had the resources to stage the whole thing and foil Widmore. Ben is a great character, love him, but Des is the show for me.
They're two great tastes that should just be kept apart!

Hey, just because the captain says that Ben staged the wreckage, that doesn't
make it true. I'm not saying that Ben didn't do it, just that you can never assume
ANYTHING on this show. The captain could be lying, or have been lied to by Widmore.
We don't really know at this time. That's half the fun.

IF Ben did stage it, my question is-- how did the guy who came to the island as
a child end up being the all powerful Wizard? Is it his association with Jacob?

I can't wait to find out all the answers.

I don't think Ben is the bad man TPTB want us to think he is. In my opinion,In the end Ben will be The Good Guy!

I think the captain was leading Sayid and Des down that path. I am not sure that Ben staged that crash. I am pretty sure he wants them to stay on their side and to continue to think Ben is the bad guy.
