so why does Juliet say Sun will be dead in three weeks?

should be five months after conception that she dies,,not two and a half

Three weeks is when the onset of the symptoms would begin to occur... even though death isn't til 5 months, maybe the chain of events - whatever they may be - begin in 3 weeks and can't be reversed.

"made it" being operative words... as in, they survived that long.

I can start showing symptoms of a disease, but take three more months to die from it. And it wouldn't be a very pleasant three months.

Yeah, the way that she was describing those symptoms made it sound like they lasted a while.

As everyone else said.

Despite what Star Trek with its accurate estimated lethal doses of radiation might suggest, most longterm causes of death don't let you live happily until a specific point and then all of a sudden kill you on the spot.

After re-watching the ep with the missus, I noticed that Juliet said that Sun would be nauseated for a week, then fatigued for a week, then slip into a coma and eventually die.

So, yeah it takes some time.
