First of all, Ben was crushing on Juliet. Don't you think that after she betrayed him to help the Losties get off the island he'd no longer want her? I mean he's went through a lot to keep her there, although personally I don't see what's so freaking great about Juliet, but why would he wanna take her back?

She was seeing another man. She formed a thing for Jack. She spilled the beans to Jack and the losties about Ben's intentions to kidnap all the preggers. She helped kill 7 of Ben's people by warning the losties.

Yeah, if I were Ben I'd still want her too. *rolls eyes*

I don't understand it either. The only thing I can come up with is that some how Juliet is "special" or her future offspring are going to be "special". It may just be Ben's ego. Maybe he can't figure out why Juliet doesn't see how he is "special". There are alot of specials in quotes in this post, sorry. But, let's just say maybe Jacob promised her to him as a reward for good behavior.

Ben is a weird little dude. Maybe I've just been around more weird little dudes than you, but they do creepy, weird things. Like crush on girls that don't want them, and even if they realize this they believe they can somehow change it, usually by doing something creepy (uh, like showing Juliet a dead body).

That's what I'm thinking too. That Ben's knows something about Juliet that no one else does. Ben puts an awful lot of faith in Jacob and Harper said that Ben was exactly where he wants to be...so I think Juliet is going to end up playing a bigger role than anyone realizes at this point. As far as we know, she is not of the island in the future, so Beniet could still happen. ;) (BTW, I am in no way affiliated with shipping Ben and Juliet.)

She's hot and awesome... guys don't need much more of a reason than that.

I can see your point from a purely physical angle but if she is a pathalogical liar and a psychologically unstable psychopath with her own agenda (we still really don't know what her agenda is) then her being hot and awesome might not last too long and may be just a TAD superficial (for example if she sets her sights on someone else, married or taken or has a higher personal goal)....personally as a guy (if this were RL and not a TV show) I would be wary as she could very well end up being the bain of your life or the death of you ;) ....perhaps Ben has her number....and they are in fact a perfect match

Remember when the therapist (Harper) said the reason Ben liked Juliet so much was "because you look just like her"? Is she referring to Annie, the little girl in young Ben's life?

It's simple - Ben is a psychopath. He is smitten and obsessed with her. He never loses. She is his and he will have her no matter what.

Exactly, he's obsessive over her. I think he must exhibit some signs of some other mental illnesses as well, but I don't know enough about any to 'diagnose' him :) Remember how 'giddy' he was when she came over for dinner that night. He is SO weird, but I would not underestimate that man, EVER. There really is no end to his plots and scheming. He has a backup plan for everything and I think he thinks he is invincible. Huge ego, also probably having something to do with assurances from Jacob

I also agree with luvlst that Juliet reminds him of SOMEONE. That was no throwaway line that Harper threw out there.

I've done plenty of crazy things for plenty of women who were a less caliber than her.

AND she's got that mysterious 'Mona Lisa' smile thing going on. That must be pretty intriguing. I think she's a cute character and I am totally shipping on the Jack + Juliet angle, although it appears to be a LOST cause (pun intended!)

Well, when you put it that way, no wonder Ben thinks she belongs with him! Seriously, with someone like Ben, it's gotta all be about him. I think once he accepts that she's not going to be with him, he will see killing her as his next most acceptable alternative.

How do we know he hasn't already decided to kill her? I mean Ben has been locked up all this time in his own basement. How was he able to send Harper to speak with Juliet? Ben is creepy but to me the whole crazy about Juliet thing just doesn't seem right. Ben is committed to the island. He will do whatever it takes for it to be kept in secret. Why would he care about some pretty woman who resembles someone from his past? BTW, how many women on this show does Juliet look like?! Supposedly Jack's wife and now this "her" person. Next they'll say that she and Kate resemble.

I don't think Ben loves Juliet, I think she reminds him of "her" (Annie / his mother?), which is the only reason he wants to keep her.

I agree with whoever says that Ben's obsessive feelings toward Juliet are more about HIM and his psychosis than about Juliet. Poor Juliet getting caught up in that... she's not my favorite but still, that's some scary stuff.

This whole obsession could be just one more of his tricks. He knows he needs her on the Island beacuse of her special skills, so he makes her believe she has no chance of leaving because he has an obsession over her.
I dont know how it fits with him promising he'll let her go later, but seeing Ben reacting like that toward a woman doesnt look very honest.
I think it'll take a long time until we see something that Ben does which is completly honest.

Maybe Ben thinks the island owes him "her" for all he's done to protect it. She is his perceived reward.

Yep, it's a classic case of if I can't have you, no one can.
