I'm wondering what the implications are of Ji Yeon actually being born off of the island. Is this "supposed" to happen? Is she the first baby that actually made it?

Ji is a baby conceived on but born off the island. Aaron is a baby conceived off of but born on the island. One boy, one girl. Opposites. Adam and Eve?

I see that there is an Adam and Eve thread - I need to check it out. It just seems to me that Ji Yeon actually being born off island is a huge anomoly. At the very least, we have a 'special' baby here. I'm imagining a baby with super powers!

I think Ben's gang has tried and studied these off/on the island possibilities before.

Other question is have they succeeded before?

Ji's getting off the island could be engrineered by Ben.

I don't know. I mean, why would it be an anomaly?

We know that women who conceive off the island can carry to full term and safely deliver their baby on the island; we also know that women who conceive on the island can't carry to full term and, in fact, die during their second trimester; finally, Sun's FF proves that women who conceive on the island can carry to full term and successfully deliver a baby if they get off the island before their second trimester. I think we've been given empirical data on three scenarios involving women, pregnancy and the island. The anomaly would've been if Sun had both conceived and given birth on the island.

I see where you're going here, however where is the empirical data regarding women who conceive off of the island, give birth on the island, and are raised off of the island? I don't know - it seems to me though, that if there is a thought out there that Aaron was 'meant' to live on the island, perhaps Ji Yeon was as well. This is a scenario we haven't seen before, that's all.

I don't think they have - Juliet wanted to take a pregnant woman off the island to see if she would survive, and Ben snapped that nobody was leaving the island. I don't think it's an experiment he could have carried out without her knowledge, as it's kind of hard to explain the sudden disappearance of one of her patients.

Claire conceived off island, Claire gave birth on island and Claire was raised off island. Did you mean, "where is the data for the cases of women who were raised on the island and 1.conceived on island & then give birth off island and 2. the data for island women who both conceived and gave birth off island"?

Yes, exactly :) . . . my bad.

Women who conceived on the island, and then gave birth off of the island. Is Ji the first baby reflecting this circumstance?

As far as we know right now, she is.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. All I know, is that she's gorgeous! I want a little Ji Yeon of my very own.

When did this happen?

When did this happen? In "One of Us," they had the conversation about taking women off the Island.

I have a feeling Ben wants to keep anything that comes to the Island, ON the Island.
