I don't think we're going to get anymore about the Dharma Initiative. They were pretty much just doing studies on the metaphysical activities on the island and I don't think they have anything to do with the overall picture anymore.

They have not received a stop order.

I'm confident we will learn more about the DHARMA Initiative. TPTB have indicated such, and the presence of a chemical warfare facility on the island suggests that there's more about them than meets the eye.

To be honest, I'm more interested in learning about the DHARMA Initiative than in the fate of the Losties or the somewhat dull and unrealistic Others.

There's indications he is very important so I'd say yes.
We know a lot about the purpose, but that was due to TLE and since not everyone followed it I think they will address this issue more.
As has been said, TLE revealed exactly what the numbers are, but might be specifically addressed in an episode.

I can see a future episode that goes like this:

SAYID: When we were sailing around the island, we saw a foot statue that had only four toes.

JACK: Are you joking?

SAYID: I never joke.

JACK: You know who else had four toes?

SAYID: Who?

JACK: My FREAKING DAD!

SAYID: Are you joking?

JACK: He must have gone back in time when we crashed and then the natives worshiped him and built a statue in his honor. That must mean that I am Jacob.
