View Full Version : Walt flash forward
Margalit 03-22-2008, 04:08 PM Given that Malcolm David Kelley is the one cast member who looks visibly changed over the past 4 years, it would seem to provide a fantastic opportunity to provide us with a Walt flash forward! How cool would it be to write that into the plot, and have the now 14 year old Tall (Not Ghost) Walt revealing some future information?
PhillyandBCEagles 03-22-2008, 04:22 PM Honestly, unless they've got a really great plan to work it into the plot, I wish they'd just get another actor to play Walt. I think we would all accept why he looks a little different.
irish77 03-22-2008, 04:25 PM Sadly Walt has turned into just another plot point that is ignored for large parts of the season. Just like the smoke monster, Libby, Jacks father, or Jacob he has become more of a character that only pops up once a season and even then you barely get anything from them. This would be nice and maybe we could get some closure on his storyline.
The revelation that he is mad at Michael and not talking to him almost writes him off in a way. Unless we see him appearing to Locke in the future we may not see much of him in the future. "Darlton" have said that the smoke monster has appeared as Walt in the past and since he rarely seems to take the same form more than twice (if even that) we may not get much of him.
His storyline was one of the most interesting in the first two seasons of the show and with the Missing Pieces short about him it made his character even more mysterious. If he is ignored and over looked then that would be a big missed hit by the writers.

There's about 50 different things going on. The show would be absolutely horrible if they tried to touch on every single plot point in every episode.
Colonel Corn 03-22-2008, 08:59 PM That's the point. though. They've brought in so much new stuff, that they've pushed aside some great stories.
It just seems like a lot of the stuff that was important in season 1 and 2 is no longer important.

That would be an interesting FF because I would eventually like to know more about Walt and that seems like a good way to find out.
Sam G 03-22-2008, 10:45 PM When asked about the production difficulties associated with Walt and possible appearances of the character in the fourth season, co-creator Damon Lindelof stated, "We've always known Malcolm was going to grow faster than we could shoot the show. And we planned for it. Trust us. Please trust us. You'll see [Walt] again. But you're gonna have to be patient. Sorry."

I thought about that same quote! I wonder if they have alredy filmed the scenes they needed Walt for...probably not
I think the FF idea is very good, or we are probably just going to see more of Taller Ghost Walt :D
ryan0905 03-23-2008, 12:20 AM I think Walt's story will be told eventually. He's one of the mysteries that ranks up there with the smoke monster imo. They should be able to pull off and interesting ff for him.
lowerstreet 03-23-2008, 12:40 AM A fast-forward is a good idea. How far into the future were the Jack scenes in the Season 3 finale?
I miss the actor who plays Walt, but I can understand why the character has been sidelined, and why there were no scenes of Michael and Walt talking on the boat en route to rescue.
I guess the writers can say that kids who leave the island will start aging a lot faster.
Margalit 03-25-2008, 01:35 PM I hadn't known that TPTB had confirmed that they had something in the works for MDK, given his natural aging. When did they say that? If it was too long ago, I wont hold my breath. I agree that the addition of so much new stuff has pushed interesting things we've been waiting to hear about into the sidelines. I haven't watched Seasons 1 or 2 in a while; I wonder if I did, if my reaction would be the Aha! of revelation, or the frustration of remembering things I'm still waiting to have explained. Many balls have been dropped, that's for sure.
Let's hope we do see some Walt FFs; they could really be amazing!
Devera 03-25-2008, 01:37 PM They made such a big deal of Walt being special, and with Michael returning, I do think we will see more of Walt. However, I agree it will either be in the future or in a flashforward (or both).

Let's hope we do see some Walt FFs; they could really be amazing! This is a recent quote from Damon concerning season 4 but it is something he has commented on quite a long time ago, I think Walt's aging was always going to be built into his character.
Avius 03-25-2008, 03:13 PM I imagine Walt making an appearance around the time of Jack's FF. That would give them plenty of time to grow him up.
Exile236 03-25-2008, 05:05 PM I don't think Walt's reappearance on the show will require it to be solely in FF. I think we'll see the 06 get off the island at the end of this season, then next season the show will jump ahead in 'present Lost time' to the point of Jack's FF in TTLG... ie 2007/8. Next season will be set in 2007/8 with FB adressing what's happened since the rescue both on and off the island. 15/16 year old Walt will rejoin with the 06 members in an effort to return to the island.
