i just remembered this little detail from last season... so the others have implant technology that can trigger sickness in someone, and claire has such an implant in her. might anyone else? is there a way to take this out? or was it a last minute plot device that the writers will never revisit again? perhaps if we talk about it enough, they'll be forced to go more in depth on it in the future. or maybe it has something to do with Claires eventual(?) demise.

Benry said all that, but do you believe it?

Didn't Claire get sick arond the time Ben said she would and didn't Juliet "cure" her?

Yeah, youre right, but wasn't it a ploy of Ben's to gain trust for Juliet in the camp? So was something further triggered at that point, through the implant? Seems like it.

I was suggesting that the entire sickness Claire was suffering was due to the implant, Ben said that he had activated the implant prior to gassing Kate, Jack and Sayid the first night they returned Claire was sick, just in time for Juliet to start winning peoples trust with the "vaccine"

As far as I can see, the sickness was almost obviously caused by whatever Ethan injected Claire with. It must have been some sort of drug which would help with the pregnancy, except it probably had side affects...

All the "implant" was was an excuse for Juliet to be in the Losties' camp. All it had to be was a blood squib that Claire inserted.

And it appears now that the necessity of Juliet's being there was to provide an excuse to show Tempest to Jack & Kate. Juliet had excuses to know the way there.

And it may be that Tempest was just an excuse for the Fantastic 4 to be on the island. And the Freighties were an excuse to get some of the Losties "rescued from the island".

This is a very long and concerted effort in alibi-building. People you think are antagonists are all working together in a plot that began years earlier.

To follow just one thread of it: the Drs. Burke set themselves up as fertility experts. One of them was a stunt man who arranged to be hit by a bus, while the other was "recruited" for a project in a secret location. The "project" related to problems with pregnancy that were said to be endemic to this secret location. Of course all of this was fake, to match the supposed expertise of Juliet and get her to that location. The romantic triangle with Goodwin and Benry was also fake, to arrange for Juliet to backstab Benry. All of this was for Juliet to know the location of the (also fake) poison gas depot and to show it to Jack & Kate who could then vouch for the Freighties' "decontamination" effort.

To supply an excuse for Juliet to be sent there by Benry, Kate had a baby in Australia and pretended (via sleight of hand) to have it born to Claire, who in turn had pretended to be pregnant. To supply witnesses, she and her helpers conned a fortune teller into having her get on this flight to have her baby adopted out.

ULIET: Knock him out, Bernard. JACK: No! No. Hey. Not wanna be unconscious.
JULIET: You don't want to be out of control. Kate. Kate, you need to leave. Bernard!
JACK: No. Kate.
JULIET: Kate, you need to go. Bernard!
JACK: Please. No!
JULIET: Kate, get out of here! Bernard.
JACK: Kate...
KATE: Jack.
JULIET: Kate. Kate, get outta here! Damn it, Bernard! Knock him out!
BERNARD: I'm sorry, Jack, but I agree. (Grunts)

Why was it such a big deal to knock Jack out and to remove Kate from the operating room??? I agree with the theory of Jack having an implant. But what if all Juliet did was remove the implant?? If Jack was awake and looking at it in the mirror he would have seen the implant, so would Kate. Bernard is the hard part, is Bernard actually a part of Dharma or the Others as some speculated about him in the past? Or does Bernard just not like the sight of blood so he looked away and Juliet knew this about him??

Lots of holes in this theory, but Juliet shaving Jack a little too high was a strange line.. I would like to know if shaving such a big area is normal in an appendectomy.

Until proven wrong, I think Juliet was removing the implant not appendix. Why she did not just admit it to Jack, I don't know.

We don't know yet, but there will be some reason Jack will need (or at least his story will benefit from) to have been unconscious, and to appear to have resisted being KOd. All part of the alibi building. In fact, that's what his whole feigning of sickness and the phony surgery by Juliet was about. And it's another reason Juliet was gotten into their camp.[/quote]

Practice has varied. In general they aren't shaving as wide an area or as much as they used to.

Until proven wrong, I think Juliet was removing the implant not appendix.
And I think she didn't even make a real incision, any more than Jack did on Benry or that he really had an arrow in him.
