Great episode! I was excited just knowing the title "Cabin Fever" cause I figured that meant Jacob.

Well, we didn't actually get Jacob, but we got Christian and creepy Claire, lots of interesting FB (interesting FB: that's a novelty nowadays!) on Locke, more info on just who really knew what on the boat (guess the captain really wasn't in the know - Keamy seems to be the true leader and Widmore lackey) and best of all, Ben and Hurley sharing a chocolate bar!

Oh, and the fact that the island moves... anyone else think that may be part of why Jack cannot find the island again? That even if he got the location from someone on the boat, it could be useless now... that complicates things.

Locke episodes never fail to amaze. SOOOO much answered and the plot moves forward. And only two minutes of Jack...always a plus!

I want to know how they plan to move this island, but I think the answer will be seen soon. OOooh! That's probably why Jack can't crash a plane into it in TTLG. Awesome!

So we got a new writer (Kyle Pennington?) and Elizabeth Sarnoff delivers a good episode of Lost for a change.

Lots of weird stuff and it was a little over the top but I loved it.

Loved that the time discrepancy was confirmed with Omar getting the morse code message from Daniel about Doc Rays dead body.

The Island moving? Through Time? Space? Both?

There can be no doubt now about Richard Alpert's agelessness either.

For we fans of action, mystery, and mythology, "Cabin Fever" was a most filling treat. And for fans of Terry O'Quinn, the treat was extra sweet. So many gaps that fans could only imagine were filled in tonight, and then some. While Locke hikes to his destiny, action on the freighter heats up. Flashbacks reveal Locke's attraction to faith and the island's attraction to Locke. Team Jack sitting on the beach like lambs awaiting slaughter, but fear not, Frank Lapidus has a plan. Intrigue, action, and yes, more questions posed. An episode that really moved along, while setting up exciting scenarios for the finale slated to begin next week.

It was great to see Locke out of Otherton and in the jungle, in touch again with the island. I really like actors who can fill the screen and communicate with only expressions, and Terry does both quite well. The Man of Faith, despite warnings from Ben, getting closer and closer to his destiny. Make that fickle destiny--Yikes! I'm not sure I'd want to be the one taking anything from Ben.

The return of true flashbacks gave us important mythological information, and was just plain interesting to see. Locke failed his first island test, but was nevertheless invited to Mittelos Science Camp. Science Camp...bah! The actor who played the teenage Locke did a good job. Very low-key, and not overacted.

The creepiest scene to ever air on Lost? Claire in the cabin. 'Nuff said. Move the island? What a week for theorists coming up.

To me, this episode was everything I want from the new Lost. Imagine if the writers can top this episode with the season finale...

Hats off to the writers, Pennington and Sarnoff. Great job, again, by Terry O'Quinn. Really enjoyed this episode.

Kudos to Kyle Pennington, the noobie writer!!

This was my 2nd favorite S4 episode, right after Something Nice Back Home.

Opening and ending scenes are very important to me. These two - Emily playing
"Every Day" and Locke saying "he wants us to move the island"...
well, they don't get any better than that.

And Shephards! I've been saying for years that the island is all about the Shephards!

But, then again, I love every single one of them.

Lots of explanation, lots of questions as well, simply mesmerizing...

One thing I have to object with you guys, though, is the fact that no one seems to be noticing how Ben's character was portrayed tonight... completely human and much different to what we once knew... As if him and John were brothers, sharing the same fickle VINCENT destiny...

I have to say, this was a really excellent episode, a drastic improvement over last week's snorefest. I love that Damon and Carlton respect their viewers enough not to wrap all the plotlines with a bow, and spell everything out. They made a comment on a radio interview recently where they said that whereas most shows write for the lowest common denominator in order to appeal to a broader audience, they write their show specifically for an audience who wants to take some sort of active intellectual participation in what's going on.

Nowhere is this more evident than in this last episode. The revelations actually were not that shocking and surprising to those of us who were paying attention; we knew Christian was in the cabin and connected with Jacob, we know something was seriously wrong with Claire because of Miles' interaction with her in the last episode, and we even knew that the island was transitory and elusive. Based on Widmore's comments in The Shape of Things to Come, we actually knew that it had moved, or become somehow hidden again.

So it's really wonderful to me, as someone who loves the guesswork and easter eggs, to see payoffs to my favorite aspects of the show. Even Locke's flashbacks underscored the mysticism and otherworldliness of the proceedings, and were enshrouded in mystery. But not so much mystery that a veil couldn't be lifted on it very easily.

So yeah, I was feeling very disheartened after last week, but now I'm psyched and fully on-board for the finale.

One of the things I liked is that "Cabin Fever" (like many other Lost titles) can be interpreted in more than one way. Cabin Fever, as in, the dreams an hallucinations that a fever can bring on?
Cabin Fever, in the old-fashioned sense that when you're stuck in one place for a very long time, you start to go a bit crazy? And other ways that my weary brain can't think of now, but I'm sure are there...

One of my favorite episodes so far. Fascinating in the character studies, always learning more about Ben. Always trying to decide just when Ben is telling the truth. Like Danielle once warned, "He will lie for a very long time." (And I'm still waiting for that one to be explained: she'd said that she'd never seen The Others, so how did she know Ben was an accomplished liar? I know, most ppl on that Island LIE.)

I agree: Hats off to the writers, Pennington and Sarnoff! Enjoyed this very much. So much to contemplate now. Thanks for a great ride!

I wish there was a "pretty good" thread because I liked the episode a lot, but the episode wasn't as good as last week, which had more character development. I don't think alot happened in this episode, but the one or two revelations we received were very good. It was interesting about how Christian wants John to now move the island. Widmore knows where it is, and they have to move it. I have to see how all this unfolds, but it sounds intriguing.

I enjoyed the episode, and I certainly didn't hate it at all, but it was no Walkabout.

....There can be no doubt now about Richard Alpert's agelessness....

That's not exactly true - and the explanation is just one of the many reasons why I loved the episode:

In the Buddhist belief system, as you probably already know, they believe in reincarnation.
What you might not know, is that when one of their spiritual leaders (Lamas) dies, the other Lamas begin searching for the reincarnated leader.
When a suspected reincarnated Lama is found, the test to see if they have the right child is whether or not the child can pick out posessions from the past life.
When they do find a reincarnated Lama, he is taken away and trained by the other Lamas.
You can read more about that at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalai_Lama#SuccessionNot only does this tell us a lot about Richard Alpert's "special school" as well as the "science summer camp," but it also suggests that Richard COULD be a series of reincarnations, as opposed to one man who does not age.

It's also one possible reason for the Others abducting 815ers, and the only good explanation I have seen so far for why the abducted people stayed with the Others (I think the brainwashing machine Karl was hooked-up to would take too long to convert everyone).

If they were just pulling reincarnations of old friends back into the fold and were somehow able to remind the reincarnated people of their past lives on the island, it starts making sense.

Twiga - you hit the nail on the head. A Locke episode with minimal Jack is always a recipe for success, but this episode went above and beyond. Between the birth of Locke, the Richard Alpert and Abbadon visits, and finally the meeting with Christian and Claire ... this episode was amazing from start to finish.

My mind was blown at this episode....I loved it.

I have to agree, I thought it was out of character for Ben to just hand the reins over to John when they found the cabin. I kept thinking there has to be a reason and I'm still racking my brain trying to figure out what Ben has planned or what tricks he has up his sleeve...lol.

I thought they were gonna end it with Hurly and Ben sharing a candy bar, just sitting there like nothing unusual was going on. Gotta love Hurly, he has to be one of my fav losties.

Great info, but I'm not sure... If he was reincarnated wouldn't he look different?

I've seen more than a few fathers & sons (and mothers & daughters too, for that matter) who looked very much alike.

The differences come from mixing in new genetic material, but if we're talking about an insular island community that practices inbreeding (no real choice there) there might be even fewer differences between the generations.

Even if Richard Alpert IS somehow immortal, I stick by my explanation of what he was doing with Locke and his other "special students" in his youth.

Besides their past lives, though, I can't wait for a Richard Alpert FB to explain what else he was teaching them....

Totally one of the best episodes this season. I feel like I'm back in the first season!

I yelled OMG when I saw Richard looking at Locke as a baby. Such a flip out. So many more questions. Is he a time traveler? Is he the pirate from the black rock (what I think) and ageless. Did he travel back and forth before Ben ever did and give Ben the info on how to do it?

Locke's flashback.....AWESOME. So many more questions! He was definitely chosen, but why did they wait? And why does Locke have absolutely no memory of Richard. I know he was young, but whatever. And the drawing!

But the absolute best was the cabin scene. I loved Claire's attitude, like she was totally at peace, but is she dead? I don't think so, but that's my opinion.

And of course, Jack. He's all better now. One day after surgery. The island is back on his side now so he can go and kick some bad guy A@#! I know he wants off the island, but for the ones who don't he will do whatever he can to save them.

It was the BEST!

This "adjustment" season has been weird, from great episodes (The constant), to all action episodes, to episodes you want to erase from your memory (Eggtown), Lost's soul felt somehow "Lost", but with Cabin Fever my faith is back! AMAZING!

I just want to say I loved this episode; I barely blinked during its 42 minutes. For us who love connections, mystery, mythology, old school Lost and John Locke, this episode was perfect. It's the right set up for the season finale.

A traditional jungle journey, a revealing flashback, a scary treat from the freighter folks, The Cabin and its inhabitants, and John's final order WHAT?!

Really nice episode, and I hope the three hour finale stands by this standards… this is the Lost we (Or at least I) love!

I continue to be amazed at how well the shorter season format has worked out for the writers of "Lost". While it's still a bit shorter than it should be, the fourth season has been very tightly written and has taken the show in a great direction. I'm also happy to see some of the less prominent characters stepping back into the limelight. After this episode, it's hard to imagine that the season finale will disappoint, and it leaves me crushed at the thought that it will be several months before the show returns.

Overall, this episode was another heavy hitter for the fourth season, dropping a metric ton of shocking revelations about the mythology. A number of intriguing possibilities are now on the table, and many of them could end up resolving long-standing mysteries from the very beginning of the series. This is the perfect prelude to the massive fourth season finale.

I really enjoyed this episode a great deal. Locke is regaining his confidence, even if he's prone to making the wrong choice, he's interesting again. One thing is certain, Benry is not thrilled about Locke's new found confidence. Wonder what trick he has up his sleeve to discount it once again? Hmmm...

Hurley, Benry and Locke sharing most of the scenes made for an interesting combination. The wordlress exchange between Benry and Hurley sharing a candybar was right up there with Rousseau and Locke's two word exchange last season in 'TB'...priceless.

Just how old are Abaddon and Richard? Better yet, what are they? Because as Abaddon told Locke, "...no, I'm more than just an orderly." Yeah, I'd say.

Anyways...some very trippy, cool goings on. Claire chilling in Jacob's cabin with daddy Shephard was quite interesting. I hope Claire's not dead, but if she isn't, what in the world is going on with her? No wonder why Miles seemed so confused about her "status".

Keamy is insane. Sayid and Desmond are still hot. Frank needs a shower and a comb...and Micheal is still so royally screwed. Perfect!

I just absolutely loved it, I think this entire season has been terrific. There were so many things about this episode I enjoyed; Richard returning, Abaddon with Locke in rehab, teh cabin of creep, ect... I am really wondering what is going on with Claire, however I think it could be she reappeared in the same way Walt has reappeared to Locke and Shannon and he is still alive? I was bummed the Captain was killed off, I though he could have been a great ally to the Losties. I thought it was well written and Terry O' Quinn gave a great performance. A great epsisode, I can't wait until next week! :)

great episode from the beginning to the end.

When I see the girl I first though she was Claire but she was not. When the car crashed her and her first words when she awake, she was pregnant. she gave the name to her baby. Everything reminded me the Claire and baby Aron.

In the flashback of John childhood, the backgammon, the knife scene and the smokey drawing... Ohhh Myyyyyy GOoooooddd! Writers are really crazy :).

The John dream and his talking with Hourace. As the repeating time loops get closer I am getting crazier :).

The most interesting scene. When the Keamy reached the boat, the Mors signals reached the boat, the doc is alive. Those happening at the same time. Just before Keamy left the boat, he killed the doc but the docs dead body had already reached the island. I am totally confused here and LOST myself.

I dont wanna talk about the cabin scene but the funniest scene of the last couple of eps is Hurley sharing his chocolate with Ben. Giving the bigger part to him. I love Hurleys playing role and his CLEAN SOUL.

I gave 10/10.

1. I loved Dr. Richard Alpert's return. He plays mysterious well and I think he is very sexy! ;)
2. I loved seeing a peaceful cabin visit.
3. I loved seeing another one of Locke's crazy dreams....he's a man of faith!
4. And less KAte/Jack time.
5. Flash backs were a great change of pace and they added more depth to the character of Locke and more insight into his struggle over his destiny.
6. Seeing Abbadon return.
7. I loved the camera angles, the lighting, the acting, everything about this episode was rich with detail and I could go on listing its strengths. But I'll let someone else add to it.

Loved it! Destiny is a fickle bitch was the best line of the episode.

I read somewhere else about Ben's mother being named Emily also... Do you think it is possible that Ben and Locke share the same mother? Someone mentioned them having a brotherly feel about them in this episode.

Alpert visiting Locke with the test was great - and Locke playing backgammon - awesome.

Gotta love Lapidus - but I also thought he was going to fly off course or something... guess Keamy's arm band has him freaked?

I don't think I've been on the board all season - but this episode was just so awesome I had to come catch up.

This was a great episode, it wasn't the best this season, but what an improvment over "something nice back home"

I loved this episode! the bit with Alpert visiting Locke, and Locke's dream with Horace,, really curious about Keamy and his arm band! and the bit with Ben and Hurley and the chocolate bar was lovely,
