Is it safe to say that was the best episode of LOST ever?!

I loved this episode. The homecoming of the Oceanic 6 was perfect. There were so many nice character moments in this episode amidst all the action. I loved how everyone's family was there to greet them - very emotional. Also, the Sayid/Nadia reunion and Jack finding out about Claire were great and well worth the wait. It's sad knowing Nadia is eventually killed, but I am glad we will get to see them together. So many cliffhangers, too! The bomb on the freighter, the Others with Sayid and Kate, the Orchid, the exodus of the losties. I can't wait to see what happens next!

I don't think thats too far out of the realm of possibility.

PHENOMENAL Episode.

I wouldn't go as far as saying it was the best episode of Lost ever, but I loved it! I think it was an excellent set up for part 2 of the finale. What do the Others want with Kate and Sayid? What will happen at the Orchid? Is the freighter going to explode? Sometimes the best episodes are the ones that make you so excited to see what happens in the next episode. :)

I loved it, I though it was a terrific beginning for the finale, plenty to digest for the next two week. I thought it was well written; good dialog and interesting scenes. It was great to see Nadia and Sayid reunited, as well as some of the rest of the Oceanic 6 with their families. sun was great; "You will respect me!" lol... Gah, only one more episode for the season. :(

...at least it is two hours. :)

I thought it was awesome!

But it was really strange to start off this episode with the O6 coming home - especially knowing there is so much left for the next episode! I was in tears before we got to the "LOST" logo!! LOL!!

Same with the ending - I felt like this episode WAS the ending! The climactic music at the end - was beautiful and so emotional.

This is going to be hard finale to get through! Excellent work!

Although I wasn't a huge fan of this episode overall, I did like that Jack finally found out about Claire being his sister. Plus we finally saw the numbers in a FF. Not just a few of them either, but ALL of them. That was cool!

What I loved about this episode was that even though it was obviously heavy in set-up, moving all pieces in place to let loose in the finale, there were some very satisfying moments. All of the O6 flashforwards were great, from Sun telling off her Dad to Jack finding out about Claire. And the on-island stuff was also very cool with the return of the Others and finally the introduction of the Orchid station.

I liked that the episode was able to remain emotionally grounded with some good payoffs while functioning as a tease for what's to come.

Absolutely fantastic episode, one of the best to date. It flew by and left me hungry for MORE. The pieces are being set up brilliantly and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Loved the emphasis on the O6, that was pretty emotionally satisfying, seeing them in the early moments of their return... there is so much more, but I have to order my thoughts!

I agree wholeheartedly! I love seeing Ben confident and in charge (*glares at last week's episode*). His "I always have a plan" line made my day.

This episode was excellent, and I have high hopes for the rest of the finale in two weeks. I mean, there were so many great scenes! Sun totally destroying her father. Hurley and the Numbers. The return of the Others. Sayid and Nadia. I loved it!

I particularly enjoyed Desmond's little wave to Dan as he left the freighter. Absolutely delicious!

I cannot believe we have to wait 2 weeks for the continuation. But I am so psyched that it is 2 hours long.

I just love the storytelling this season. The FFs mixed with FBs. Starting back with TTLG and moving back back back back back to the moment they leave the island. Brillz! I was surprised that we started with them coming back to Hawaii, but it all made sense. Great job, Darlton, as always.

Over the course of four years, we've learned about our Losties and their foes, and we've loved them and hated them. Right now, it's gut check time on and around the island. How will our Losties behave, and how will they fare, now that they are in the midst of a great conflict?

We got our first taste of this tonight. It was a great night of Lost, with many a scene I've wanted to see for a long time. Losties arriving home. Jack finding out Claire is his half-sister. The other Others back in play.

Island heroics were also on display. Jack forging ahead against the odds. Sawyer accompanying Jack. Sayid to the rescue. Kate insisting on coming along. Daniel taking Losties to the freighter, still protective of Charlotte. Ben, taking one for the team (well, Ben is most likely only furthering his own plan).

Jack learning that Claire was his half-sister was a particularly moving scene, written, directed and acted superbly. We all knew about the relationship and that eventually Jack would also become aware of it, but the scene was nevertheless extremely touching.

Sun's stunning scene with her father at Paik industry was pure enjoyment--Sun, with a steel spine, putting her controlling father in his place, which is below her place. I'm not sure where the story is going with this, but I am very happy to see the fine actress, Yunjin Kim, get such a meaty scene. I hope this continues.

There wasn't a wasted moment in tonight's episode. Poignancy, excitement, and perfectly-timed humor abounded. Congrats to the actors involved and to Stephen Williams, the director. Great, great job, Damon and Carlton.

Thank you Damon and Carlton. I love this show. The whole hour felt like 15 minutes. For some reason this episode really reminded me of Exodus Part 2, maybe it was due to the fact that it was multiple character centric. Anyways some really good character moments. The finale is seriously going to rock.

I would like to add that the music during the final scenes was quite effective. Nice job on that, along with everything else.

Oh, and thumbs up for cleverly incorporating "the whispers" into the surprise party for Hurley.

I LOVED this episode.

I found myself strangely emotional. I cried and I am not entirely sure as to why in a lot of scenes. I think it's the music they are playing. I am also sad that in two weeks it will be the last time to watch lost until 2009 :(.

I hope this two weeks goes by quickly!

It was so good. I loved the music in the beginning and the end. I loved, LOVED, the scene where Jack learns about Claire. Just... :o

I loved Sayid and Nadia's reunion and Naveen's acting in that scene.

I loved how it looked... the directing was good, beautiful colors, like when Ben is signaling with the mirror the greens are beautiful.

There's a lot more that I loved. The whispers in Hurley's house.

I agree wholeheartedly! I love seeing Ben confident and in charge (*glares at last week's episode*). His "I always have a plan" line made my day.

Me too but Ben had to have time to grieve Alex and his loss of status. Plus it gave us some great insights into his character and the all time best line -Destiny is Bickle FItch:censored:. (Can I say that here?) I think after the way he unraveled during last year's final episodes, the beatings he took at the start of this season and now his time of being chosen is over. Hell, I lost an election in a small volunteer group yesterday when the president set it up for two of us officers to lose. The stab wounds in my back are still oozzing a bit and I've been having a pity party all day. But Ben! Poor Ben had lost the only other love he had left in his life -the island. She rejected him (I feel for you Ben). Alex, Juliet, Annie and his mom all gone and now he is alone. We knew he would come out swinging again but meantime it was kind of fun to watch last week. He's gone through the shell shock part of grief and is entering the plotting revenge stage (as am I).

This episode was excellent, and I have high hopes for the rest of the finale in two weeks. I mean, there were so many great scenes! Sun totally destroying her father. Hurley and the Numbers. The return of the Others. Sayid and Nadia. I loved it!

Sun was so magnificent. She has never been a favorite character of mine but she rocked tonight. Now she owns Daddy and I bet she is out to plot a little revenge of her own. Wonder if she finds out that Daddy and his (now her) company has connections to Widmore.

I particularly enjoyed Desmond's little wave to Dan as he left the freighter. Absolutely delicious!

And the look Dan exchanged with Charlotte when he left. She really does care for him. And Richard is back :clapping: in his native duds with his gang of Others and Ben wouldn't tell Locke what he was telling them. Loved how each man tried to take control from the other one. But Locke knows nothing about the Orchid let alone how to move it. Will it move through space or time?

Looks like Ben will be leaving from the Orchid his arm injured by Keamy who is probably still in full pursuit.

excellent, excellent first parter!!
the best since Exodus 1.

this episode brought back some season 1 memories. It showchased elements of the show that has made us love it in the first place. Surely, I enjoy the WTF-twists, the complex storyline, but damn... all of these character interactions/moments/development, the adventure, the emotional aspect of the show.... they just rock. And this episode was filled with them.

I've regained faith in you, LOST. I know you need to get your sci-fi on and I'll take it or leave it most days, but last week annoyed me and made me feel completely disconnected from the show because I didn't really care about any of these people as long as they were Island puppets/can't tell who's dead or alive anymore.

This week, there was SO much going on but the pawns were alive. You could see them in 3D, rich and vibrant.

Well done, Matthew Fox, again, the flashforwards have simply given him some of the best material yet and he just runs with it. That was an incredible scene with Claire's mother. I also love Andrea Gabriel as Nadia and I'm sad we're soon going to lose her, but I hope to see more of her. I loved all the family reunions and am very glad to see Margo again and have her help Jack find closure from his father and the normalcy of a family. It won't last for long and it makes me wonder what happened to Hurley's parents as well, but that's still in the future.

Great musical score and a terrific ending as well. Loved it.

Completely, 100% agree with this. However... while I love Yunjin, I have no sympathy for Sun, especially after this. Regardless of why she blames Jack (we don't know the circumstances of Jin's being left behind... might very well be completely justified) and regardless of what a mobster Paik really is... if she goes all the way back to Jin being on the plane because he was Paik's slave, maybe she ought to remember who made him her father's goon in the first place and point an exquisitely manicured finger at herself. Just because DOC was boring, it doesn't mean the events in it are not canon. She's a hypocrite, at least where Paik's guilt for Jin's death is concerned.

The show was friggin awesome! I love Lost always but the end of their seasons are kick A#$. They are pulling everything together and it's great!

I loved the end where they're all on their little journey to get off the island and to save it. I cried a lot when they were going home. Kate looks emotionally whipped. Last week I screamed when I saw Richard at the nursery and this week I screamed when I saw Claire's mom. How cool was that? I loved it that Jack knows and how he found out.

I loved when Sawyer, after trudging through the jungle and trying to find Claire and saving the life of that baby, he turns around and goes with Jack. Sawyer has truly made the biggest journey in this show. He has changed the most!

I could go on and on, but ultimately, I loved it!

How fast did Hurley eat that 15 year old cracker?

Just thought this one was extremely gratifying, start to finish. Having wondered so long about what a return would look like, I thought it played out so well in the episode...including the very intriguing discussion about how they were rescued. Then of course there were so many great moments that have already been mentioned. Just brilliant, really.

One does get the feeling that they've created these last three episodes like a traditional three-act movie, complete with an amazing score. Can't wait to see what happens next.

I loved everything about this episode, but I want to mention a couple of things specifically. I've seen several people mention that this episode reminded them of Exodus 1 and I felt the same. I think part of the credit for that goes to the exceptionally gorgeous score. The music is always wonderful on this show, but last night it was even more beautiful and moving. than usual.

Most of all, I think this episode reminded me of Exodus 1 because there was such an air of purpose and hope on the beach, with everyone working together to get the survivors there ferried to the freighter as quickly as possible. And better still, we got to see the whole ensemble taking care of each other and acting with great purpose. Sayid arriving to take people back to the boat, but passing that task off to Daniel and heading out with Kate to find Jack and Sawyer. Daniel taking over as ferryman, with Juliet organizing the groups of survivors on the beach. Sawyer partnering up with "stubborn" Jack, with a "Hold up... you don't get to die alone." Ben, Locke and Hurley off to save the island. Sawyer and Jack off to save Hugo. And Alpert and his posse off to save them all.... we hope! There was such an air of menace over all their stories, but the partnering up and the obvious bonds among them all was so satisfying to see.

And then we have the O6, as all that's left of all that feverish movement. Their press conference and reunion scenes were very moving, with poor Kate all alone with Aaron. And it all left me with such a terrible sinking feeling, wondering what happened to all the others who aren't with them. The episode was both uplifting and terrifying. It was satisfying, but left us absolutely craving more. The people on the freighter are sitting on a huge bomb - it seems they've gone from the frying pan to the fire. What a cliffhanger!

And the montage at the end was pure inspiration. Nobody uses that technique better than Lost, or scores it better than Michael Gianchinno. That was the perfect ending for what I think was one of the very best episodes of the series. I can't even imagine what the rest of the finale will bring!

It was great. Not the best episode this season, but it was up there. The only issue was the build up to The Orchid and now having to wait two weeks to find out more.

The muscial score was fantasic. It really felt like it's been a long while since I've noticed it.

The scene where Jack finds out about Claire was fantasically done. The look on Jack's face was heartbreaking.

It will be quite interesting to see how the O6 get together, cause right now we've what appears to be Hurley, Jack, Kate, and Sayid all going to or near the Orchid, while Sun and Aaron are on the freighter with all the C4.

Awesome, awesome episode. May 29th seems like a world away.

Agreed - Jack realising Claire was his sister was a very well-acted moment with an amazing bit of music to accent the moment.

I thought it was a solid episode. Some very good bits like Ben with the mirror and the return of the Others etc. Maybe I find it difficult to believe that Jack would be physically able to get up and walk full speed across the island two days after surgery. But it was all well done and a great set-up for the climactic finale.

Surprisingly, I've heard a lot of criticism for this episode. Words like "filler" and "jump the shark". I'm not sure what show these people have been watching for the past four years, but every finale event has started off with a relatively slow opening act. It's standard storytelling. A lack of flash and dazzle is not a lack of quality! Nor does a show suck if some plot point fails to meet specific personal expectations or predictions. This is a show that rewards the long view, and that ought to have been apparent by now.

Lost 4.12: There's No Place Like Home: Part I (http://entil2001.com/series/lost/season4/lost4-12.html)

Overall, this episode was mostly setup for the remaining two-hours of the season finale. While a great deal of time was spent moving the characters into position for the conflict to come, there were a few minor tidbits revealed along the way. The true joy here is in the artistry of the storytelling, which continues on the strong trend established this season.

That really is a good point, entil. I think sometimes the fans focus so intensely on judging an episode in a vacuum when it's really not fair to the episode or the show to go along that way. It's important to recognize each piece as part of a larger puzzle. An episode that has the function of setting the stage for things to come can be vital in producing an altogether BETTER overall story even if it lacks the resolution of a stand-alone. I think this particular episode was highly successful at both moving everything into place for the finale while rising above the label of "filler" with serious relevance to the story and stand-out memorable moments.

...and has been sorely lacking in a lot of the fanboy-preferred "non-filler" episodes where the characters tend to become pod people. Strokes, folks, I know... All I'm saying is, this episode corresponds with and serves the same purpose as past pre-two-hour-finale episodes like Greatest Hits, 3 Minutes, Born To Run and in my opinion, it was better and more eventful than all those three put together.

Wow. Season four for me has been a seesaw of love and hate. Cabin fever had such a big build up, I felt a bit let down when it aired, but this one....excellent job. Very reminiscent of exodus. I really liked how every story group was touched upon. The music did a great job in underscoring the emotional punch.

With the exception of Widmore and Smokey (but that freight train entrance in TSOTTC still sustains) every lost element we've come to know and love was accounted for.

Faith restored PTB, faith restored.

I just watched this episode again and when the press ask Kate what it was like giving birth on the island she says it was scary. That just reminded me of Do No Harm from Season 1, where Claire says "I'm so, so scared" and Kate says "I'm scared too." When Kate is delivering Claire's baby. It's actually really sad...

Gosh I was reading the transcript for Do No Harm and it's actually kind of spooky. Kate says "this baby is all of ours." Great episode! That and Raised By Another have a lot of connections to what has happened in season 4 I think

Very much a set-up episode, but I loved that it gave attention to every character within the cast, and brought back a few well loved faces in mama and papa Reyes. Nadia for Sayid (Awwwwww!) and Mrs. Shephard.

Best scene of the entire episode goes to Jedi Sun! Yunjin rocked in that scene. Major kudos to her. In fact, all the women rocked in this episode. Juliet remains a class act, even as she bares her heart on her sleeve. Sayid looking to her for confirmation...awesome! Kate leading the charge on tracking down James and Jack! Woo Hoo! Rose doing what she does best...asking the questions that need to be asked. And even snitty Charlotte and her sweet, little crush on Daniel was touching.

But lord have mercy on daddy Paik and the other person Sun feels is responsible for Jin's death, because sister girl and her big belly ain't playing around.

Can't wait for the finale!

It was a good set-up episode. It makes me want to see more of what comes next. What happens at the Orchid station? When will we see the Orchid video and will it be the same as what we have already seen? Who is in the casket? Did Jack do something on the island that he feels guilty about? Why all the lies? Where's Claire? What happens to Jin? How about Desmond? God, two weeks? Why? Why? Why?

I thought it was pretty good. I can't wait for the finale but this episode I didn't think was lacking in anything. I was happy to see Sawyer again and thought it was great that he wants to go help Hurly. I really like their new bond.

Ben also seems to know about this "secondary protocol" so it makes you really wonder how the hell Ben knows so much about everything. I was happy for Sayid to see Nadia. Also, this is the first time in a few epsiodes I can remember where the numbers came up and I thought it pretty clever to do it on the odometer/trip meter.

Sun telling off her dad was great because I can remember in the early seasons how she always just took his crap and I thought it was awesome how she was like now you will respect me!

Actually this epsiode I liked a lot more than I thought I did.

We loved it both times we watched it. Ben's little scene with Keamy at the very end was excellent. Great ending.
I am so anxious for the finale, and anything that can keep me coming back week after week in doing a successful job as far as I am concerned. Any show that can stand up to the kind of criticism and scrutiny that LOST does and still deliver such quality, especially considering the strike, is surpassing everything else on t.v. as far as I am concerned.
One part I didn't like: The funeral and big Claire reveal...boring. Jack's response was masterful, though. I felt his pain and confusion.

Great episode- in fact I think season 4 has been of a very high standard on the whole, with even the slower episodes not dragging anywhere near as badly as some of the "filler" episodes running up to the end of season 1 & the middle of season 2. This ep really sets things up for a belter of a double episode finale- some quality Ben lines too, & the numbers in hurley's FF was a nice touch too, especially as a bit of a smack in the face after the nice thing his dad had done in restoring the car!

Look's like we've got another quality Lost finale explosion with all that C4 on the freighter too!

I don't know if I'd say best ever, but it was certainly fantastic and a great set-up for the final as well.

Yes, that's the reason why I loved it so much. It really makes you want to fastforward to see the finale.
