This was a rare episode that accounted for most of the on island and freighter characters. Some of the other threads picked up on one major weakness, and that's Desmond's cowardly behavior in the past couple episodes. We can read stuff into it but without a Desmond centered episode, it's not that clear why he acted the way he did.

My problem is Desmond's future as it will likely be mapped out in the season finale. Desmond's only projected plot line would have to include hooking up with Penny or dying, and I don't think he's ready to die. Right now he's stuck on a doomed freighter. He is so far the only "normal" character who has some understanding of time travel. But the Lost producers haven't showed us any future for him. Since the flash forwards so far have focused only on the Oceanic 6 and Ben, that leaves poor Desmond in more of a limbo than any of the other characters.

Sawyer's off island life has found closure thanks to his offing Cooper last season. Locke is married to the island so he's not going anywhere. Jin's fate has been hinted at and will surely be cleared up by the end of this season. Juliet is still an Other who I'm guessing will have more dealings with Ben. The freighter people, even the nice ones, are still strangers to us.

So the season finale will have to give us more Desmond. I don't think they can repeat what they did in Season Two's finale. But Desmond's going to have to have a bigger part.

Same here.
There's got to be more made of Desmond activating the Swan failsafe - and saving the Island that Charles Widmore thinks is his!

Perhaps the finale will se Desmond go to the future when he tries to escape the freighter?

I think Desmond, Jin and Michael, and maybe some of the background survivors will die on the Kahana. It's rigged with C4, which means it's the trigger that was probably on Keamy's arm. In the event of his death, the trigger will activate, blowing up the Kahana.

Crud. I'm probably in the wrong (place, almost certainly :undecide: it was excellent all round) but... I'm not getting why Jack's getting heat for this episode. Ack. maybe I'm as crass as some people think he was - can't help but become pragmatic in a crisis. meh.

I thought he rocked at the funeral - Foxy did a tremendous job  and Jack Prat running through the jungle to rescue two professional soldiers with combat experience...

well that's just Jack isn't it? and the reason so many people love him.

<-- confused. :34853_huh: lol.

I suspect that I may be posting this in the wrong episode, but
did anybody else get a hint that Locke and Ben are half-brothers?
didn't they have the same mother?

The Others maybe had fuel somewhere, but Losties? I can't imagine some 815's going to neighbours to borrow a cup of fuel...;)

(Sorry for my poor english... )

Bye!
