View Full Version : Smokie Drawing and Reincarnation
Fierro 05-09-2008, 12:22 AM The whole test Alpert had Locke take makes me think that he was actually trying to find out WHO Jacob is.
Some of the objects might have belong to Jacob himself. So Alpert was expecting John to recognize them from a previous life.
Also, the drawing of Smokie on Locke's room might be an indication that Locke might have been having visions from his previous life as Jacob.
LostLaura 05-09-2008, 12:23 AM Oh that's interesting. So you think Jacob gets reincarnated?
There is another thread talking about similar ideas, re: finding the next Dali Lama (Richard Alpert's test thread)
carfreak2128 05-09-2008, 12:27 AM it was very interesting that he took the sand as well as the compass
Jack Sawyer 05-09-2008, 12:33 AM The sand definitely reminded me of Jacob. I loved the knife seen though, like a young Indiana Jones picking up his whip for the first time.
Fierro 05-09-2008, 12:33 AM Add that to the fact that Jacob doesn't seem to have a 'body'....
Is he trying to get inside the right body?
Perhaps he can only be 'reborn' in the body containing his previous 'self', in this case John?
kansasgal71 05-09-2008, 12:43 AM Give it up to all those who theorized reincarnation!!! I also read somewhere on here about the way Buddha is recognized after being reincarnated...
WTG!!! Don't you love it when you are right??
Selene1212 05-09-2008, 02:14 AM Could that have been the compass Locke gave to Sayid (back in season 2, I think?)
lockesmithe 05-09-2008, 02:27 AM The compass confused me. Didn't Locke give the compass away, saying that he didn't need it anymore? Locke choosing the knife seemed to be key for Richard, but was it really the compass? There are so many interesting ways to read that scene, as put forth by the Lage members tonight. I just didn't get the compass part.
John Burger 05-09-2008, 02:28 AM "They spoke to him and to his parents and performed a test. The monks had brought several items with them from their home monastery. Some of the items had belonged to the thirteenth Dalai Lama and others were imitations or just common objects. Lhamo correctly identified the objects that had belonged to the thirteenth Dalai Lama. "
Maybe that will give you a clue.

Simply AMAZING!!! Do you have the link to that?
Now as far as the items, I believe that they belong to the crew members of the Black Rock. So, like it has been theorized for a very long time, Jacob might have been on it.

Check this out, it's a trailer from the movie Kundun (great Movie) totally reminded me of alperts test. In the trailer it shows the monks giving the Child who they think is the 13th Dalai lama "the Test"

NOW, that is incredibly similar!!!!!!
We've hit on something big, guys!
jane_eire 05-09-2008, 11:29 AM All this has happened before, and all this will happen again.
Fierro 05-09-2008, 11:30 AM But if Jacob is the spirit to be reincarnated in somebody elses' body, how can it be inside Locke and in the cabin at the same time?
Does it have anything to do with the island's time distortion capabilities???
After all, the Doc was alive on the boat and dead on the island at the same time,,,,
ANd by the way, Where was Jacob, this time?????
Anybody else thinks that he was able to get out of the cabin because someone broke the circle of ash?
Also, was that mysterious circle a way to prevent the cabin from moving???
div2n 05-09-2008, 11:47 AM After all, the Doc was alive on the boat and dead on the island at the same time,,,,
And what makes you so sure he was alive and dead at the same time?
They seem to be hinting that time on the island and time elsewhere are not at all in sync.
I will take this opportunity that there is actually scientific basis for time not being in sync--special relativity.

The whole doctor issue is a way to show us that the island is capable of CTC, that is closed timelike curves. In these twisted time constructs, the laws of cause and effect are broken. That might mean that they can both happen AT THE SAME TIME or, that the effect can preceed the cause. This is what we witness with the doc arriving dead at the island while he was alive at the moment that Daniel sent the morse code message to the boat. This was confirmed by that guy on Keamy's team.
