You were nice eye candy while it lasted.

Really too bad. We find out he's a good guy, and then that jerk Keamy has to go and screw things up.

For shame.

Too funny! That's exactly what I said when he was shot. That and "wow, hot but not a very effective Captain". What was that about? Why was he afraid of Keamy? I get that Keamy is one mean child born out of wedlock, but don't you lock his backside in the brig er somethin'?

I thought the Captain was a total bad ***, but it's too bad the way things turned out. He was cool, but Keamy is an absolute beast of a man, a real evil son of a bitch, and i wouldn't blame him for standing down against him, even if he was his superior.

That Keamy scares the hell out of me.

You'd think so, but I remember saying to the person I was watching with, when Keamy first threw Gault up against the wall, "Well, guess Keamy's actually the one in charge..."

Yeah, the eye candy has been taken away. How sad. :( Maybe he'll appear in a future freightie flashback? One can hope.

His death also leaves me wondering who exactly is going to steer the ship away from the island. A first mate or something? Clearly I don't know much about roles on ships.

Keamy is definitely in charge though. So be very very afraid (if still impressed with his physique...)

Yeah, but why? Maybe the boat is just chartered by Widmore. Gault the Hot didn't seem to agree with the Keamy's decision to go torch the island. Wouldn't the captain make the decision? Keamy's group seems to have their own agenda seperate from the rest.

I was wondering about who would steer the ship, also -- but I guess they're not thinking that far ahead... lol.

And Keamy -- whoa -- the guy is built like the Terminator. My mom told me that she's convinced he's an android...

:biglaugh:Wrong show, Mom.

I think our poor Captain Hottie got in a little over his head. Keamy's group are mercenaries - if you don't do it their way, well....you just better do it their way.

Yeah, it seems so, though I was SO disappointed to see Keamy bulldozing over the captain. Who does that guy answer to is what I want to know. Widmore, presumably, but Keamy seems like a bit of a loose cannon. You'd think Widmore would want someone a little less psychotic on the job. Psychotics are unpredictable—a very undesirable trait in an employee.

Anyway, I'm here to pay my respects. *lays down bouquet of flowers*

I think that was why Naomi was initially put in charge of the whole mission and was the first to go over on the chopper. When she had to bail out and got hurt (and eventually killed) Widmore's original plans went out the window. Captain Gault obviously had no real clue as to what they were doing in the first place.

Noami, was pretty a skilled liar since she was able to convince most of the losties that she and her team were there to rescue them. After the freighter folk found out Naomi was dead, Keamy lost his patience and decided take control. Is it wrong that I really find his character interesting? I mean that guy is beyond just a bad mofo, something else is working in there.

Excellent point. I completely forgot about Naomi's role in this. Your explanation makes perfect sense.

LOL I can't say I like the character, but I agree, he sure is interesting. I like the way his character was a little under-the-radar at first, I underestimated him.

It seems similar to a naval arrangement, where the marines aboard the ship have a somewhat independent command structure from the sailors. (Necessarily, since if they go off to fight, they're going to need to take their command structure with them, and the ship will need to keep its own command structure.) So the captain was supposedly in charge of the ship, and Keamy was in charge of his men and their mission. And since they each had a key to the safe, they were apparently jointly in charge of the overall mission.

The deal with the keys reminded me of Hunt for Red October, where the captain and the "political officer" each had one of the keys for arming the nuclear missiles, and the captain killed him and took his key. In that case, the ship's doctor said something very similar about the point of having two keys.

He was a cutie, er hottie. What a waste. I'm wondering though....what was the deal with the note slipped under the door to Sayid and Desmond about then? The one about "Don't trust the captain" or something like that? It would seem that the captain was basically just the means of transport for Keamy and his whacked out commandos.

I think Michael was just trying to deceive them for his own agenda.

I loved Captain Hottie and was so looking forward to more interaction of the Three Musketeers (Des, Sayid, Hottie). I actually gasped and jumped in my seat when he was shot. Here's something to remember him by: http://gallery.lost-media.com/displayimage.php?pid=114629&fullsize=1 Mmm, loved those eyes.

I, too, like Keamy's character (not Keamy, just his character ;) ). Can't dislike a man who beats up Michael either. :D Apparently he was steaming all the way from the island to the freighter about Michael ratting him out to Ben. And, holy crow, he is a HUGE man. Des (Ian) is 6' but Keamy towers over even him. His arms are like tree trunks. :eek2:

Matthew Fox is the tallest principle cast member at 6'2" -- it'll be funny to see someone actually tower over him.

Captain Gault suggested to him that "boat madness" had affected him, I think initially he wasn't as crazy as he was now.

I disagree; I think he was like this from the start. There was a certain calculating coldness about him from the moment Sayid and Des landed on the freighter.

Awww. I'm glad I found this thread; was starting to think I was the only one in mourning. And I've been thinking of him as Captain Hottie for the last week, so LOL at the thread title.

Three episodes just wasn't enough. I'll greatly miss his ruggedly attractive presence and charming Australian accent. At first he reminded me of Daniel Craig, then I realised he looks a lot like another handsome Aussie, Richard Roxburgh (google him if you want to see the resemblance) Thanks for posting that picture, Ketch22.

Something I found interesting was that the Captain came across as a total don't-mess-with-me badass at first, then Keamy stepped up to the plate and was even more of a badass, and by the time he was manhandling Gault and yanking the key from around his neck, it was clear that the Captain had no control over Keamy whatsoever, maybe was even intimidated by him. When someone as tough as Gault can be pushed around, you know you're dealing with someone s-c-a-r-y. Good job by the writers there.

I guess all we can do now is pray for a) a flashback appearance and b) a suitable comeuppance for Keamy.

He does look a bit like Richard Roxburgh. And that made me think of something. For the first ten minutes or so of the episode where we meet Goodwin, I thought it was Richard Roxburgh (because he is a genius with accents) but then I realized it wasn't. But it's funny, because even though Captain Gault looks a bit like Richard Roxburgh, and so does the guy who played Goodwin, they don't look anything alike.

I miss the captain...:frown:

Another one joining in to mourn the loss of Captian Hottie. :-( I've been telling all my friends back home in the US for yonks about this hot actor named "Grant Bowler" we have out here in Oz and *finally* the world gets to see him, and then he is cruelly taken away from us...

Not fair.

He is serious eye candy!

Are you referring directly to what I wrote? I'm totally still in mourning myself...which is why I rebuked PJ05 for bringing in the Keamy-love.

But only jokingly of course, don't want anyone thinking I was actually yelling at another poster.

So Grant Bowler's a New Zealander, is he? I had been wondering, but for a Brit like me it's very hard to tell the difference between the Aussie and NZ accent (unless you get them to say "seven", which is easy to distinguish)
