How does Goodfellow have plans to a cabin that appears to be much older than the 12 years Goodfellow has been dead?

View Full Version : Why is Jacob using a 12 year old cabin? mrain01 05-09-2008, 12:42 AM How does Goodfellow have plans to a cabin that appears to be much older than the 12 years Goodfellow has been dead? Flotsam 05-09-2008, 08:46 AM It appears that Goodspeed didn't use the most weather-resistant wood. It aged quickly and poorly. But seriously, I'm not certain that Goodspeed literally BUILT the cabin. Remember, he appeared to John in a DREAM. espol 05-09-2008, 08:50 AM It appears that Goodspeed didn't use the most weather-resistant wood. It aged quickly and poorly. But seriously, I'm not certain that Goodspeed literally BUILT the cabin. Remember, he appeared to John in a DREAM. i think we can assume that horace did build the cabin. he had the map in his pocket at least, and locke himself says he built it. i think we're meant to take that as a fact. and it for a cabin that's only really been populated by ghosts/apparitions whatever after 12 years you'd expect it to be pretty dusty and shabby looking. makes sense to me. nancy 05-09-2008, 09:17 AM So was the Purge when Ben killed all of those Dharma people whose bodies are in the pit less than 12 years ago? Or is 12 years on the island not what we would call 12 years? I have a different but related question that I need some help with. If the two sides seem to be the Alpert/island natives/ Jacob/Ben/Christian side as opposed to the Dharma/Widmore/Abbadon/Keamy side then why would Goodspeed (who Ben killed in the Purge) help Locke find his way to Jacob's cabin and, presumably, help to save the island? Can someone help me to clarify the two "teams"? eTux 05-09-2008, 09:30 AM Though the cabin thing confused me a bit as well - I don't think it's entirely out of the question. We're looking at practically any time after his arrival on the island and before his demise 12 years ago. To give my view on Nancy's second question - I think if you die on the island - the island/Jacob/Smoke Monster can use year appearance to manifest itself to the people of its interest. So I think the point of Goodspeed showing up in Locke's dream, was the island's way to inform Locke that he has to find Goodspeed's body in particular, and not Goodspeed himself dropping hints to Locke. espol 05-09-2008, 09:30 AM So was the Purge when Ben killed all of those Dharma people whose bodies are in the pit less than 12 years ago? Can someone help me to clarify the two "teams"? well it was only a dream. maybe they just used horace because he built the cabin and knew the way. however, i get the feeling that horace might have realised ben was special (he was there at the birth, he paid a lot of attention to ben when him and roger reavhed the island) maybe he knows something about kids like ben and locke. though obviously, he was killed in the purge, so you wouldn't think he'd have anything to do with the natives and the new leader. usnbostx2 05-09-2008, 09:46 AM Perhaps we're looking at the wrong two sides...maybe NOW it is everyone ON the island (dharma, Others, 815 survivors) vs. everyone OFF the island (Widmore, Mittelwork). Loyalties have shifted perhaps, even among the dead? |
