Interesting to note that we did NOT get a Locke Flash Forward. In fact, we got a childhood FB for him finally. We've had just a few of those, and usually only for one scene of an episode, for a few characters.

I'm not sure this means that Locke doesn't survive, but I think TPTB definitely want Locke's future to be a major question.

Yeah, only the O6 get flashforwards so far. Because the Left Behinds are still a mystery and they can't spoil it 'til the finale... or beyond.

Seems that Locke isn't destined to leave the Island.

He's not one of the O6. Only the O6 got FF during this season.

I cannot wait to see what Locke is up to in the future. It would have been great for this episode to have been with ff but oh well, it was a great episode anyway and it gave us some insight into his life growing up. Plus who doesn't like seeing Richard? He's awesome!

I think that if it stands that Locke stays on the island, a FF for him is too telling for the rest of the story. This FB on him was awesome though!

There's enough going on this season without a FF of Locke being able to fly around on the island and breathe fire. If they showed us that now and didn't come back to it, it would be very confusing.

Not really, Not just the O6 get FF's but it seems that those who get off the Island do. Such as Ben, he is not of the O6 and he gets FF's

But yes to comment on th topic, I too found this interesting that it was a FB instead of a FF. I agee with an earlier post that they want to keep us in suspense as long as posible about the fates of those that stay.

On another interesting thought, I beleive Jin is the only other FB this season, right?

Juliet
Michael
presumably The freighter 4
Ben
Jin
Locke

I guess what stood out to me (and yes, it totally makes sens that he wouldn't get a FF since he future needs to be left in suspense) was that Locke is the only original Lostie to not get a FF (other than the fake-out with Jin). Sure, Juliet didn't get a FF, but we got more of her island story through FB. Same idea with Michael. Freighties are new so we get snippets of them in FB. But not Locke. It's been ages since we saw childhood Sawyer, Jack, and Sun, but it took until S4 for us to get childhood Locke. In some ways, it totally make sense, but in other ways, it's pretty strange. Just pointing it. :)

Sawyer and Claire didn't get FF's. Or FB's, actually.

That was made on purpose, not to let us know whether he's dead or not, since we are presumed to believe he's dead but it's not confirmed yet.

Yes, you are right, sorry, I correct myself. I just forgot it (and how could I possibly have forgotten it! "The Economist" was probably my favourite episode so far).

Your right, I forgot about Michael (not really sure if that's on purpose or not:rolleyes: ) and Juliet, but I mentioned Jin, Ben and Locke.

And In my mind I wasn't really considering the Freighter 4 for some reason. But in reality this was the first FB that has amounted to any significant plot lines being revealed in a loooong time.

-Richard following Johns life (showing that John has really been chosen)
-Abadon's influence on John's decision to go to Austrilia (really how they manipulated john to come to the island)
-John's early fight against science and the early signs of him becoming a man of faith

Im sure you can find others in there, I just don't have the time right now. but you can see this FB was loaded with info, not just there for time filler.

Anyone who is not O6+Ben didn't get a flash forward because we are meant to wonder what will happen to the people who don't leave the Island. The fate of Desmond, Juliet, Jin, Sawyer, Claire and Locke will be seen in the finale, and I think the "flashes" format will change again at that point.

That's a good point, they probably will change back to FB's. Actually they would almost have to, everything for the last season and a quarter has led to this point so it would be pointless to continue to show FF's into a future we have no idea about. Hey do you think it will be revealed about who is in the coffin in the season fanale?

I doubt it. Really it seems like the fans have forgotten about that whole coffin thing, so I don't see any reason for the writers to bring it up again.

Actually in last week's podcast Darlton said that we will find out who is in the coffin in the season finale.

I don't think they forgot it. They have to follow the time sequence, the coffin was in TTLG, whose ff takes place after SNBH.

I also think, now that we've seen Christian in the cabin, people won't be so obsessed over that Jacob guy anymore.

Really! Wow, thanks for sharing.

And to the other poster, I don't think many of us have forgotten about that coffin, it's just that on our Lost there are soooooooooooooo many loose stings out there you have to prioritize what ones keep you up at night thinking.

That coffin has bothered me ever since we saw it closed. But I understand your point about there being many other cliff hangers out there that might over shadow it.

No, I still want to know about Jacob, I think he is still the one behind the curtain pulling the strings.

How do we know that this wasn't a flash forward? He was asked to tell Richard what he had once owned ... so this would be the future, n'est pas? :)

I think the period props made it obvious that this is a FB. The car, clothing and hair styles not to mention the style of the hospital. Also I think most people understand that you can't smoke in a hospital. Back then the effects of smoking was less known about and sanctions were just being past, so Emily's mother lighting up in a hospital fits for that period of time.
I think most people are of the thoght that this is some for of either time jumping or percieved reincarnation. that's why he say's "Once owned"

Here's an idea for the Locke FF, it's the series finale, and Locke along with his merry band of others have taken over the world, that's actually all I've got he's standing on top of a mountain holding a flag, with JACOB, on it. LOST.
leading of course to the movie, one can hope can't they.
And they couldn't give us a Locke FF it might ruin the rest of the series.

Yes, ITA. It can't be a FF. Everything shows it's set in the past.

Good point. It depends on your views on time lines and time travel.

**Im not going to try and explain because I get too engrossed - Terminator and 12monkeys can cause arguments with close family and friends! hehe*

I think we have to wait till it all ends to piece all the scenes in time order.
