Could his test and Locke's test by Richard tonight be related? And that is why the island won't let Michael die...he must be there as a test for Walt. And when they move the Island (in time), Claire will be there to raise Aaron to take his rightful place as the big Kahuna of the Island. (The bird and the dog.) The others were certainly interested in him. They tested him and kept him in the brainwashing room, Room 23. Walt and Locke have had a connection ever since season 1, and season 3 with his apparition telling Locke he has work to do, further establishes a connection.
