Man, Horace was giving me a serious Pet Cemetary vibe tonight, and once again an apparition appears to help further the game/quest/agenda. But in reality, who's agenda is really getting executed here? Like the manpparition said, "Find me and you will find him" and the quest is able to continue. And BTW, does that line creep anybody else out in a kind of religious way, like find Jesus then you'll find God. Substitute Jesus for "me" and God for "him", and you have what Jesus is about-you have to go through him to find God...
As I believe it to be, the whispers agenda seems to be getting accomplished. They seem able to make the apparitions appear, and I've felt that they may be in the same position as Jacob, incorporeal and just not able to harness the power to appear, as it seemed Jacob could by stealing the power/light from Locke's flashlight to blip in for a sec, say "help me", and then blip back out.....
Plus there was a little somrthing different as Horace had the bleeding nose like the Time Ebola people, and I'm going to have to think about how that relates to the apparitions as somehow that could be a game changer in that dept...(<>..<>)

Horace's nosebleed was consistant with how he looked at the moment of death when the Island was gassed. He had blood running out of his nose, and he was slumped down sitting on a bench at the Barracks.

Yep Lucent, I was thinking about that fact after I wrote it, and meant to change it but I didn't get back to it in time. But yeah, bloody nose on the bench-that's correct-but doesn't that make you wonder why it looked so much like the time ebola? I dunno that we should re-evaluate our opinion of the function of The Tempest, but is it worth a look to maybe re-evaluate just exactly what the function of the gas is (I guess it's gas since they said it was gas).
Maybe it somehow removes your protection from the effects of the time ebola so that you do suffer from the effects of time sickness just from being on the island? Maybe that's why Inman and Des took the shots. It might explain that anyway. I don't really know of any kind of gas that you can protect yourself from with an injection beforehand, so maybe it's not the gas itself that is deadly but the effect the gas brings on? Generally, it seems it's more like The Rock-if you get gassed generally atropine or something is administered after the fact...
The thing I've been noticing is that while other people on, (and I guess off) the island seem to communicate with actual apparitions, they seem to come to Locke in his dreams. Remember in The Sixth Sense, how it was easier for the ghost to communicate while the person was asleep?
This is from an article I found about ghosts and sleep; Most ghosts are good, and have good intentions. Ghosts also appear very often during our dreams. It is natural for us to want to communicate with loved ones and friends who have passed on. Most people communicate with ghosts during sleep.
And sure, the apparitions could be called ghosts since they're apparitions of dead people, but the actual apparitions seem to have an agenda and try to lead people around to do things. Whereas with Locke, well who's to say that in his case, maybe it is actual ghosts (Boone/Horace) who are talking to him, and when they do they always show or tell him something pretty quickly, right to the point. Less about getting led around and more about getting the message and getting to the next destination in his quest.
Locke also seems to rely more on signs that he keeps his eyes open for, and at times seems to understand that some of it is ritualistic, as in "the island needed a sacrifice", etc. (<>..<>)
P>S> I guess dead people have 20/20 vision since Horace was sans glasses...

Can you explain Horace's time loop to me? I wondered when he turned around to say Hello to Locke the second time, it seemed very strange. Horace knew that Locke was confused about the DI comment, and he knew he had to explain he'd been dead 12 years. But he didn't seem to realize that he said Hello the second time, as if Locke had just shown up.
This is the first time I've seen an apparition in a loop like this.

Yeah... that was pretty weird. Maybe he's a bit messed up in the head, I know I would be if I was caught in a loop for 12 years.
