View Full Version : So what did you think the answer to Locke's question was going to be?
lostnthesoutheast 05-09-2008, 01:52 AM I thought the answer was going to be that Locke would need to surrender Ben over to the freighties in order to save the island. Afterall, as Ben so much as already admitted, Jacob and the island seem to be finished with him.
But "move the island"? That one sort of threw me. I know that I have read many a theory here and other places on the internet about the island being able to move, but truthfully, I never took those theories seriously. As I mentioned elsewhere, I never really thought that the idea would actually pop up on the show. It's a bit too far fetched for me.
visual 05-09-2008, 01:54 AM "Would someone please tell me what the $#@%! is going on?"
Lost_in_CA 05-09-2008, 01:58 AM I thought he was going to ask him where's Jacob and why are you sitting in his chair. ;)
lostnthesoutheast 05-09-2008, 02:03 AM But once you heard the question, did you anticipate the answer? If so, what did you think the answer was going to be?

In typical LOST fashion I didn't think we'd get an answer.

Good point!
avandelay 05-09-2008, 02:29 AM I didn't think they'd cut back to Locke until next week.

Ah, but what kind of "moving" is Locke talking about? That's the money question. For all we know, he could simply be describing some process of disinformation through which "the outside world" is led to believe the island in somewhere it's not -- in effect, "moving the island."
lostmio 05-09-2008, 02:41 AM I got hung up wondering what the *question* was going to be.
And I was astonished that we got both the question and the answer...
Thank you, Pennington & Sarnoff, and Darlton, and "Please, sir, may I have some more?"
Guinevere 05-09-2008, 02:43 AM I thought he was going to ask, "What am I supposed to do next?!" I sure didn't expect to hear what the next move was supposed to be.
Flotsam 05-09-2008, 08:13 AM I thought Locke was going to ask where Jacob was, since Jacob was his purpose for going to the cabin.
Lost Ed 05-09-2008, 02:46 PM WOuld it not have been hilarious if the answer was ...42?
But seriously. I didn't expect we'd get the answer right then and there...but during that pause...I thought the answer was going to be..."nothing." What do we do to save the island...nothing.
But...move the island? Guess if the cabin can move, the island can move.
Hoist the main sail....
jennylee27 05-09-2008, 03:34 PM Well, I too was first surprised by the question, thinking he'd ask something like "How do I keep everyone safe from those murderous freighter people?" But after he asked, I was like, duh, he doesn't care about the people, just the island.
And then I expected the answer to be somewhere along the lines of Danielle's S1 "Run, fight or die" line. Um, move the island? Yeah, didn't see that one coming.

My question is whether they are going to move the island in space, or time, or both?

Me too. I feared for a moment he might ask, "Duh, wa is the smoke monster?"
To hear the words, AND get an answer I wasn't thinking!:hypocrit:
JPolarBear 05-09-2008, 06:30 PM Re: So what did you think the answer to Locke's question was going to be?
"Go Condo!"
Actually; "Call Smokie and tell him to kill them this time, then get everyone on the freighter, except you."
Retinend 05-09-2008, 06:35 PM I thought Locke was going to kill Ben when he came out. Killing the previous island channeler.

Me too! For the most part it seems that Ben's story is pretty much wrapped up, all except for the part about Annie. But I suspect that the Annie topic would have been dealt with this season had it not have been for the writer's strike. Anyway, if Ben is sincere about surrendering his position of "the choosen one" to Locke, it is hard to imagine how he will be filling his time from this point forward.
ozieozwall 05-09-2008, 07:00 PM What a simply idea. Move the island...
Parrot 05-09-2008, 07:36 PM I thought maybe the answer to the question would be something like "make the island disappear." I guess moving it would, indeed, make it disappear off the coordinates! :undecide:
foghillcafe 05-09-2008, 09:58 PM Killing Keamy wouldn't save the island, Widmore would just send more people in.
To save the island in a more permanent sense, it needs to be moved so nobody can get to it.
Tjen750 05-10-2008, 06:07 AM I expected something in the line of "Follow your destiny" or "Have faith...", but now we're stuck with "Move the Island".
Move it to a different server ? A different forest ? Has the actual one been infested with bugs ? Hence the loop that Horace is in ? The time delay ? The dead people showing up in the storyline ? Could all be bugs or hacks in a virtual reality, a sort of second life...

Yeah, hubbies tend to do that..
eSPaR 05-10-2008, 11:35 AM I thought Christian would be all like: "Dude, you might be the 'One', but do I look like the Oracle?!"
;)
SHNIPE 05-10-2008, 01:17 PM We kind of had a premonition about this in the "fast forward?" of ben going to see widmore. He told him that now they would both be on the hunt since ben said widmore wouldnt be able to find the island. Its obvious that he HAD found it by the fact his mercenaries were there on it but now they wouldnt be able to find it and the hunt was on... because they moved it. So yeah i kind of knew it would be something about hiding it/moving it.
How? Now you lost me but im pretty sure it has something to do with the orchid since thats what keamy is reading protocol out of and the fact that when ben heads to see widmore he has Hallowax's jacket on. So we finally see the Orchid?

I think so.... :)
Also, I didn't think locke would kill Ben, soley for the reason that we see ben in the future talking to CW... Was a bit surprised that not only did we get an answer from Christian, but that Locke ALSO shared it with Ben and Hurley.... that's gotta be a new Lost record... :P

LOL! That's what I told my husband....Locke's going to waste his time asking about the stupid smoke monster!
100%

OMG. What if this is like some kid's video game or something?!?! I would be so mad at the end.

Yep. Mad and disappointed.

Don't forget Ben's return to civilization and the recruiting of Sayid to kill people. I think the interesting question about Ben is how does he get from this subservient, let Locke lead position we are now seeing, to back in control and orchestrating murder. Perhaps he's working for Locke? Or off on his own self appointed mission to eliminate those who are after the island.
Also when is he going to give Sayid Penny's name as the next target and how will Sayid react. Or will Ben trick Sayid into thinking she's someone different.

I thought he'd say, "John, you have to build a trebuchet and launch Ben at them."
Ha! I had no idea what to expect.
