Or was he?

He separated Claire and Aaron. He said Aaron was where he needed to be. It seems that maybe he wants Aaron to go.

There is enough reason to indicate that Jacob wants Aaron on island. Assuming he is the voice/force of the island, he brought Aaron there. He wants Jack and Kate to go back (Jack says to Kate "we have to go back").

What do you think?

I've posted on another thread, and for ages in other forums, that Christian's Jacob's son. Imo, tonight moved us several clicks closer to that. So yeah, I think he speaks for Jacob.

Why do you say he doesn't?

It's not that I say he doesn't. It could very well be that he wants Aaron on another part of the island out of harm's way and something else happens that takes Aaron off island. I was hoping to open conversation on the topic of whether they are the same force that wants the same thing. We only have Christian's word that he would speak for Jacob. It's not inconceivable that Christian may have other plans for Aaron that are not the same as Jacobs. Aaron does go to Jack sort of but it seems the island wants Jack and Kate to go back, likely with Aaron. Like I said, I'm just exploring the idea. :)

This raises an interesting question. Just as we found that there are several forces and personalities at work within the "Others", perhaps we will find the more mystical side of the island to have its own set of opposing forces and personalities.

After all, we have already seen that Smokey is at least partially controlled by a very mercurial personality - Ben.

Did you notice that Claire seemed to be acting very similarly to the way she was when Ethan kidnapped her and doped her up on Happy Meds? Seemed like Dr. Shepherd Sr. was dealing with Claire in a very similar fashion.

I'm not sure if he speaks for Jacob, but I do think there are two separate forces at work on the Island. One that drew Aaron & Claire to the Island so they wouldn't be separated and one that is actively trying to separate them.

I see that, too and at least for the moment superficially Christian has separated Aaron and Claire and probably has something to do with her happy state where she's okay with this. In the future we see Hurley echoing the words of Malkin "you're not supposed to raise him" and Jack saying to Kate "you're not even related to him!" echoes this theme. Jack's wanting to get back to the island and telling Kate in the FF "we have to go back"... it really does seem that it's the island wanting him back there.

Plus, take into account Charlie telling Hurley that 'they need you' and in turn, Hurley telling Jack they were never supposed to leave the island. Captivating, Lost is. Yes, indeed!
