They have had a couple converstaions in Season 3, it just seems weird Locke doesn't remember Richard at all...:confused:

I don't think I can remember much form year 5 or existence. The things that I might be able to remember from them aren't that specific.

I'm roughly Locke's age, & I doubt seriously if I'd recognize someone I'd seen for about 5 minutes as a young child - even if they hadn't aged.

I'd be lucky if I remembered someone I saw last week.

adolescent Locke recognised the name Alpert,,,,Locke was totally aware that the test was a significant moment in his life......imo he wouldn't have forgot what Alpert looked like

We've only been led to believe that they met once, when John was five. I wouldn't remember him either.

It could be a slightly bungled retcon, too...like how Sayid told Danielle that Nadia was dead because of him, and then in a later episode, the story was changed so that he knew Nadia was alive and was going to try and locate her before the crash.

Naw, there's no way he would have remembered him. Even if young Locke perceived that Alpert's visit was "important." I can't even remember what half of the faces of my elementary school teachers look like.

Why didn't Alpert say something to Locke when they met on the island? Like hey Locke remember me?

Sure Locke is older lol, but the others have details on everyone, Alpert would know Locke is the kid he visited.

Very could in a later eppi see that Locke does remember Richard and is keeping it to himself.

LOST is very good at making us all wrong as time goes on.

Are you sure that was changed? Wasn't there some explantion given as to why Sayid told Danielle that?

Locke may not have recognized Richard, but there is no doubt that Richard knows who Locke is. Apparently Locke didn't go to Mittelos camp as a teenager because he was rejecting science at the time. Makes you wonder what would have happened if he had gone, doesn't it. But if he had gone, he certainly would have recognized Richard from his being at Mittelos.

He did seem to recognize the name Alpert when his teacher mentioned it. When Richard came to see him as a kid, he just said his name was Richard. I don't think he said his last name. I wonder if there were more encounters with this man over the years and he's just keeping it to himself that he knows him.

Locke is also more accepting of his destiny now. He knows he was destined to be on the island. He's just accepted the wierdness of his encounters with Alpert and doesn't question them.

Even if Locke remembers seeing Alpert 30+ years ago, chances are he doesn't make the connection because normal people age. For example, I don't really expect to see my kindergarten teacher look exactly the same after 28 years. Even if she were "ageless" I really wouldn't think it was her...maybe her daughter at best.

I know it's a tv show but it seems like everyone ages except Alpert and it'd be crazy IMO to think Locke can easily pick it out. Hopefully Locke needs Alpert to explain it to him or else it may come off as hokie.

And I remember things just fine from when I was a kid. I remember my 4th birthday party, I remember an icecicle breaking off our house and nearly hitting me when I was 5 years old.

I remember the day our dog passed away when I was 4, and I remember the vet who put the dog to sleep perfectly.

But even if he doesn't remember Alpert's face, I think he'd remember the event. He would certainly remember Abbaddon the orderly, unless all we're seeing here is brand new "course correction" as they had to do with Desmond.

But, whatever the case may be, it's taking John Locke from being ambigious and quite possibly crazy, to something else entirely.

Ofcourse he'll remember Abaddon... once they meet again. I doubt Locke is crazy, even w/ Hurley's comment. I also remember things from when I was three... but last time I checked.. LOST is still a TV show ; ).

Well, do you remember what your kindergarten teacher looked like? I have no idea what mine looked like. And I sure as hell wouldn't remember the face of a guy I saw for only five minutes.

Also Locke kind of had a traumatic life - foster care, getting beat up in school, Helen, his dad, the kidney, etc - maybe he blocked out painful memories.

Unless he didn't visit Locke as a child until AFTER they met on the island from Alpert's point of view.

If you stop thinking of time as being unidirectional, then notions of linear events lose all meaning.

In other words, a meeting that happened in the 50's for Locke as a child my have been something Alpert does tomorrow in 2005/6/7 or whenever.

In short, if Alpert not acknowledging having visited Locke in the past isn't addressed, you can guarantee that as one more hint to time travel.
