That's just it's cover according to Halliwax...btw I hope we find Dr. Candle/Halliwax at The Orchid. It is one of the things I have most been waiting for on the show the worst-finding the good doctors hidey-hole on the island...(<>..<>)

It's just a cover, but I think the notion of the sun is clearly playing into how the island will move. We saw the use of sun today for communication. And obviously a greenhouse uses the sun to grow flowers (orchids).

Right, but BEN said that "the Orchid is like a greenhouse". I think he is speaking of the properties that the Orchid actually possesses. What happens there (a larger version of Halliwax's demonstration of the rabbits?) mimics a greenhouse. They're moving the island via The Orchid. How, and how is it like a greenhouse?

Things grow there? Like time maybe?

Don't know if anyone else noticed the plant racks at the Orchid when Ben was walking up to surrender (of course you all noticed) but to me they looked like the plant racks in the original movie "The Thing". The ones in greenhouse at the station where they bring the creature and the mad scientist begins to grow new creatures from the pods found on the creature by feeding them blood. Could be a nod to the old movie or just a weird connection that only happened in my mind that is littered with old trivia...lol

What does a greenhouse do? It creates a false atmosphere, right? It can replicate a nice warm and moist environment for things to grow in a season or climate that wouldn't usually allow it. Hmm...

And being made of glass, you can see in and out---your experience of where you are can seem very different whether you are inside or out...

Greenhouses can be sometimes covered by some kind of dome or spherical structure as ceiling. Snowglobe, anyone?

It may not even be so much a station as it is a branch office! We'll know more once our ol' bud Locke goes out on a limb and gets to the root of the matter. Unless it turns out that he's not in tune with the island's flora, and instead we end up seeing Jack and the beans talk!

On the other hand, it's definitely where Ben has chosen to stay, men with pistols notwithstanding. And unless Keamy decides to turn over a new leaf, he's liable to plant one right between Ben's irises!

For that matter, maybe The Flowers That Be are kid-ding us about the whole bloomin' thing, and the O-6 are all gonna wind up in Cloverfield!!

(I'd ask Rose, but I'm guessing her two lips are sealed. It's a shame, too, since she probably has some dandy lines to offer!)

Well now, if you noticed the Orchid's logo, it is an inward spiral which ends with an orchid or an orchid bud(?) at the end of the spiral...suggesting that going down the spiral or rabbit hole manifests at the end with the creation of the "orchid" on the end of the spiral. And also, it is literally the end of the spiral like this is the outcome of the spiraling...(<>..<>)

I'm reminded of the greenhouse (at least I think it was a greenhouse) at the commune Locke was part of pre-island. I don't have a great memory, but I think he figured they were growing weed there, but weren't they hiding explosives?

I do like the idea of the Orchid symbol with its inward swirl being a sort of secret pathway representation. It reminded me of where the Yellow Brick Road starts in Munchkinland (in the movie).
