View Full Version : The islands location..
kansasgal71 05-16-2008, 12:11 AM Mind if I gloat a little bit. I was shot down and told it was stupid to say that the indonesian islands are sometimes said to be in the Pacific Ocean.....
I just loooove the little story about their crash, survival. Do you think Oceanic knows the truth and helped with the little story?? How the heck would Oceanic know??
100%
Nobody wants to let me toot my own horn.... :frown:
One question, the pictures of them arriving on the island, that they showed at the press conference. Does that pretty much confirm that the Freighter will not make it, and only those on the little boat will actually survive??
BillToons 05-19-2008, 05:07 PM Yes by looking at the map Indonesia could certainly be partly in the Pacific Ocean as well. Toot away! :)
skywalker421 05-19-2008, 05:08 PM But not quite the South Pacific.
kansasgal71 05-19-2008, 05:09 PM Thanks BillToons. It is not very often I am right about something....
Avius 05-19-2008, 05:27 PM Call me a stickler, but south of the Lesser Sundas look like the Indian Ocean to me. And that's where Membata is supposed to be.

I would say in that region north of the Sundas the are open to debate.

Sorry Kansas..You may be right on other items but not this one....No toot 4 U on P.O., sorry. I think you will find that the chain of islands that Java, Bali, Sumba and Timor are a part of the dividing line between P.O. and I.O. check a atlas site, not wiki.
I looked, and that map posted above is great! I have not seen any map that clearly divides the PO from the IO, since all those "Seas" are between them...
As posted in other threads all those Seas N of Sumba, etc. are part of the P.O.(Java Sea, Banda Sea, Timor Sea) I did not know that before myself..I always thought they were separate things, not part of the bigger Ocean. I was wrong too.
.we talked about this on another thread. I learned a lot about this this week!
As likely pointed out before, the average American cannot find Washington DC on a map, so most surely would not know the diff. tween PO and IO.
My answer to ur question: I will guess that the O6 will indeed wash up on Sumba, not knowing how..and Oceanic does give them the cover story in exchange for the "big lie".
I still think Jack said "P.O" on purpose in the trial, knowing it was wrong, or he's just as geographically challenged as most "U.S. Americans".
Avius 05-19-2008, 06:48 PM Jack knows where he's talking about:
JACK: Yeah that golden pass that they gave us. I, I've been using it. Every Friday night I, I fly from LA to Tokyo or, Singapore, Sydney. [Laughs] And then I, I get off and I, have a drink, and then I fly home.
All of these would take him over the Pacific from LA, not nearly as far west or south as the Sundas.
kansasgal71 05-19-2008, 07:04 PM JPB, I can never argue with you. I have learned that you are usually right on..

except that i'm not arguing at all. i want you to be right, since we agree on most things.
p.s. did you think about moving your nice "Atlantis" thread to the theories section? It will live on much longer there. so much had been said re. it and MU/Lemuria and the vortexes, even back in S1, it's nice to see it talked about again.
BTW: did you know that the "Crystal Skulls" in the new movie are real and considered to be from Atlantis and alien-made?
kansasgal71 05-19-2008, 07:27 PM I watched a documentary on the sci-fi channel. Mystery of the Crystal Skulls. I was a two hour documentary on the expedition and history of the crystal skulls. Fascinating theories as to what the crystal skulls could be. I like the idea of a them being extra terrestrial and somehow has all kinds of information saved in it...

Me Too! Except i missed a lot of it (ok, i admit i had to watch Desparate Housewives) but it's on again soon. you could start a thread on it too!
oh, btw, i did alot of looking into the Phonecians last year as who the 4-toed statue was built by. a lot of legends of them being from Atlantis, sailed all over the world, sim. lang. to Egyptian, etc.
Kel_C 05-19-2008, 07:41 PM I still think the island is really in or next to the North or South Pole (probably south, Antarctica).
All those snow, cold, arctic references are just too many to ignore.
Oh...and the most blatent one...the two guys in 'Arctic listening station' in the season 2 finale.
