View Full Version : Hostiles A Plenty. God love 'em
Caliban2 05-16-2008, 12:15 AM I think the hostiles are going to save this one. The finale will show us that they are everywhere hiding. Dragging Teddy Bears and walking bearfoot...and protecting the island. They will control and take care of Keamy. But the price may be high.
Diesels Blitz 05-16-2008, 12:16 AM I loved seeing the Others again, and even better is that they were dressed like they used to be back in season 2! I've said all along that the Others are the wild card, and I can't wait to see how it plays out!
Dark Horse 05-16-2008, 12:20 AM I must say the Hostile's scene rocked! That was a nice surprise.
I too believe our Losties are safe with them.
Caliban2 05-16-2008, 12:22 AM Remember the 'others' was used by the losties to refer to the Dharma Initiative. Hostiles are the people in the jungle. This may prove to be different>
I still think the hostiles are the survivors of the Black Rock and are immortal and have been watching over the island for over a hundred years. But in island time that may be nothing.
caforrest2047 05-16-2008, 12:23 AM Maybe they actually are the good guys, please don't hit me:frown:
Exile236 05-16-2008, 12:25 AM Richard and the Others will no doubt play a large role in Ben's "plan" that he told Locke about.
Greta 05-16-2008, 12:30 AM The others will be the hero's, how fitting, I love it!

I won't hit you. I've been saying they are the good guys all along.
Caliban2 05-16-2008, 12:37 AM Please. I don't mean to be picky but the 'others' are the DI and the 'hostiles' are the dudes with Richard Alpert. I am suggesting that the 'hostiles' are the ones in charge. The DI are all dead now. Can't refer to them as anything but past tense now. So the 'others' are dead.
jinandtonic 05-16-2008, 12:38 AM Have to agree, the Others are most likely good and yes, IMO they are the people from the Black Rock and possibly the ancient folks who built the creepy statue. Just glad they are back, hope we see more of them before the season's out.

"The Others" was actually first used by Danielle in reference to the people who took her baby. The Losties made the name stick. The Others are made up of island natives, former Dharma members and recruits from off the island. "The Hostiles" was what the Dharma people called the natives. Same group, different names, more members.
I agree that this group contains descents of the Black Rock survivors. Not so sure about the immortal part.
Wayne Jarvis 05-16-2008, 12:40 AM I wouldn't say that the "Others" were meant only to refer to DHARMA. It was a catch-all term for Ben's cadre, which includes former DHARMA (Ben), recruited outsiders (Juliet) and the original "hostiles" (Richard).
EDIT: Beat me by a minute, MPmom. ;)
Guinevere 05-16-2008, 12:46 AM Since I realized that the Hostiles were probably natives, I've called them Natives. I loved that scene and I can only hope that Richard explains a few things to Sayid and Kate to put them at ease.

I think your right. We're gonna get some history (island like) here in a bit. That could be season 5 flashbacks. The DI and the black rock backstory. We've been missing that link.
100%
MPMom and Wayne Jarvis. Thanks. My confusion makes us all right. Believe me I don't think I have ANY answers
Selene1212 05-16-2008, 02:24 AM This scene was the highlight of the episode for me. It totally rocked!!
PapaThor 05-16-2008, 02:35 AM Okay, so there are Others and there are Hostiles. Or Others dressed in Hostiles garb. Hmmm.
Anyway, it was good to see Richard again.
DoggoneLost 05-16-2008, 03:59 AM Richard to the rescue. He seems to pop up at the most serendipitous moment. Just when you thought it all looked bleak. I'm intrigued now as to how they help (for lack of a better word) Kate, Sayid, Jack, and Hurley, reunite with Sun and Aaron to get off the island.
Captain Fuzzbottom 05-16-2008, 04:02 AM Please. I don't mean to be picky but the 'others' are the DI and the 'hostiles' are the dudes with Richard Alpert. The DI aren't dead. The Island DI were wiped out/assimilated into the hostile camp, or at least many of them were, but the off island DI still exists. Thus the DI logo on the instructions Keamy got out of the safe on the Freighter. Considering the scope of the DI operation and that Widmore apparently was overseeing the DI projects I think its safe to surmise the DI still exists in some form. I believe Charlotte will be revealed to have connections to the off island DI.

Agreed. My favorite scene of the show!
