Was that comment from Ben that the crackers were 15 years old an indication that maybe he visited that box and therefore moved the Island 15 years back? Kind of a stretch, I suppose, but I'll leave it to the more knowledgeable posters to hash out or correct me. (This is the first thread I've started, sorry if I did it wrong! :undecide:)

This idea was on another thread but I thought it needed its own home!

Was that my post? I had the same idea in another thread. Yes, I don't think that's an unreasonable thought. Hence why I thought of it. ;)

no, i thought the same thing. And, of course, they found another way to bring in another one of the numbers.

I like that connection. Intresting, he did know how old those crackers were. The one Hurley ate still looked ok? How long do saltines last anyway?

I didn't think that the island moved 15 years ago(although I think it has moved before). I think that emergency kit was just something left there for 15 years by Dharma or the others and Ben recognized the gold marker on the rock and needed to use it.

It could be an indication that when he moves the island, it will go back in time 15 years. Knowing that he finds these where he needs them, maybe the first thing he does is plant them there. Or it could indicate that the last time he went to the Orchid was 15 years ago. Hard to tell at this point.

If the island last moved 15 years ago, would that mean we are now only a year from when it last moved... Just a thought in keeping with the number...

I never even thought of that! If it's true, I wonder what happened to make them move the island 15 years ago.

Dharma saltines are built to last. I loved how Hurley ate them anyway even though he knew they were 15 years old.

I doubt this means anything, but:

The rabbit in the Orchid Orientation Film had the number 15 written on it.

It meant nothing. Ben said it in passing and the writers put it in there for comic relief. If Ben actually "moved the island 15 years ago" why would he have had to go to that particular box with that particular mirror in it?!?! He wouldn't have, he would have walked straight to the Orchid. The only reason he made a pit stop at that box was to communicate with Richard. My God.

I was like "Hurley, what are ya doin' man, those things gotta be older than dirt dude" and then he ate it, of course. What if that was a stash box from the purge when they were taking over the stations? (<>..<>)

just had a thought... forgive me if this is a repeat... but Rousseau's distress message had played for 16 years, right? and she said she came from a freighter doing scientific research, right? a freighter like our new freighter!?! maybe somehow the same one? they are all getting the "sickness"... hmm...

I wonder if Ben moving the island in the past is why Widmore can't find the island now? Maybe he moved to to keep it away from Widmore.

The box didn't move the island, was just the mirror. He hasn't used the mirror for that long.

Yes that box was there to hide things for the Natives. Fifteen years was three years before the Purge and the Temple was most likely the stronghold of the Natives where Dharma couldn't find them. Now the Others couldn't use their walkies (Keamy would be monitoring them) so they had to return to their original native means of long distance communication. Maybe Ben had left the crackers there himself fifteen years ago when sneaking out to leave a message for the natives.

And I doubt the Orchid was used to move islands! It is probably how some of the natives time traveled or at least traveled quicky through present time. I doubt if Widmore even believes the Orchid could move the island. He (in the person of faux Christian) just sent them there under (clueless) Locke's leadership so they would walk into Keamy's trap. He didn't count on Ben taking the reigns back from the chosen one again. The kicker is that Ben will probably succeed and Widmore will have provided them the means to keep his island from himself.

But your word "box" got me to thinking. What if the space that you enter to time travel is box shaped? Magic box! It had to have brought Cooper to the island. Don't tell me, someone else already figured it out. I'm always the last to know.

Which got me thinking again. Maybe chosen ones can't kill one another? Ben wasn't able to kill Locke. And by gentleman's agreement decided to extend that to families. Helps prevent the present chosen one from knocking off the next one or getting rid of his predecessor. Wait don't tell me.......

15 years ago was 1989, yeah? The Purge was 1992. DHARMA was there since the 70s. I doubt anyone moved it on DHARMA's watch.
