Hey Im not sure about the math here, but are the losties only on the island for about 60 or 70 day's or so? If that is the case why does everyone say they have been on the island for over a 100 day's? I thought time moved faster on the island, ie. the doctor washing up on the shore well before Sayid and the helicoptor arrive.

My numbers are only estimates so please don't barage me with idiot comments if Im wrong about them.

Accoring to the running Island time math on Lostpedia. The events of Cabin Fever take place on days 98 and 99. So this episode was day 99 or 100.
For further reference the site lists day 58 for the events that occur in the season 2 episode "One Of Them". If your remember, this is the episode where "Henry Gale" aka Ben Linus is introduced to us.

I think time on the island is the same as off. It's only if you pass through the wrong bearing does time change. The doctor's body floated to the island on the wrong bearing, so it got there at a different time.

They have been on the island for 100 or 101 days, so time is the same on and off the island. It is simply which bearing you arrive or leave on that determines what time you end up in.

Ok I guess my math was way off, thanks for the info. but that brings a thought to mind. Shouldn't their time be different than the outside worlds time?

We don't know that yet though...because the satellites phones somehow work fine....

Hmmmmmm interesting.......... why do they keep throwing these numbers at us? don't they know that we're going to make ourselves go crazy coming up with theory's on top of theory's until our heads explode?:eek2:

Not necessarily no, we still don't understand the exact mechanisms of the island's time fluctuations. As others have said, it's possible time passes in exactly the same way on and off the island (such as the number of days) but it's passing through the island's perimeter where there is a time differential, but even then that doesn't seem to vary more than a few hours from what we've seen, much less in some cases. It seems designed to be a defence to stop people finding the island easily.

When the survivors leave the island, as we've already seen some do, they may lose a few hours or half an hour, but in general the days will still sync on and off the island.
