It ha dto be something more than just wanting a soda and chips from that convenience store where he saw Charlie "by the HoHos"

So Hurley gets in the car with his dad, sees the numbers, freaks out and says he'll never drive the car. But he DOES drive the car--it's the one he crashed trying to get away from the convenience store after he saw Charlie for the first time. What happens to make him want to drive the car after all?

His dad rolls the odometer back a little?

agree....and from the sound of that pinto he pulled up to the house in, it doesnt have much time left. maybe hurley wanted to burn a wheel to relax, got the munchies, the pinto wont start, so he has no choice but to cruise the z28:biggrin:

Hurley is once again trying to run from the curse, even without the money his future seems rather bleak. Perhaps once he realizes he can't run from it he turns around accepts the money/car as unavoidable necessities.

More likely, and getting back to the reality that is Lost :biggrin: He probably gets his first visit from Charlie and the Z is the closest set of wheels available at the time. Then he calms down for some Ho Ho and there's Charlie again....I'm just saying....

He probably starts to go mad and just wants to begin his decline... so mans up and drives the car to see what happens.
