I found it very disturbing that Sayid - of all people - said he's positive there were no other 815 survivors.
Imo, this doesn't fit into any of the "lies" threads. It's unlikely Sayid would deliberately say that if he thought there's the remotest chance another survivor could turn up.
So... why is Sayid convinced no survivors will ever turn up?

I guess we'll find out next week. Either everyone else is dead (!!! I can't believe that!!!), or there is a very, very good reason (that we find out next week) why the must lie.

The only thing I can see that would make the whole lie worth it, is if the left-behinds are in mortal danger if anyone finds out of their existance. OR, the 06 actually saw something happen to/on the island that would lead them to believe that everyone else was dead. These are the only two ways that I could see Sayid saying this so matter of fact. I was really waiting for him to say something like "anything is possible." Nope.

I am doubting that they actually believe everyone left behind perished.

I'm pretty sure it showed a glimpse of what looked to be a Sawyer/Kate goodbye on the chopper. So they would at least know Sawyer was alive, unless they see something happen after they take off.

Sayid would say whatever he needed to say to protect his friends.

No offense, but I thought it was pretty clear Sayid was just going along with the plan. It's obvious that, as a group, the O6 has had to throw their comrades under the bus as a part of their "deal."

I think as the O6 take off, the island "is moved" by Locke.....whatever that entails, it may look as if the island disappears or blows up or sinks into the sea.

Two weeks. Next week is Grey's Anatomy 2-hour finale. We get ours on the 29th.
