What???

Man, this guy gets better at lying everyday... :(

(Before this turns into another Jack hating thread - I must say Matthew Fox's acting was STELLAR in this episode!)

Why wouldn't he miss him? I'm confused.

These men have always had a very screwed up relationship, but it was always clear that they loved each other in all their dysfunctionality. Even when Jack suspected Christian of sleeping with his wife, even when Christian callously and selfishly manipulated Jack and his need for his father's love, there was never any doubt of that.

So why is Jack lying?

I've lost a parent too and then I lost my surrogate mother as well and it doesn't matter WHAT the circumstances of that loss are or how many eons you haven't spoken to each other or spent in acrimony, the loss and yes, missing that person, never goes away.

I agree. As someone my self who has a very complicated and dysfunctional but loving relationship with my father like Jack does I totally felt for Jack in that scene. It also helps MF is an amazing actor. He hit the notes so well there. The pain and guilt and everything.

The father and son dynamic is much more complicated.

I agree with you on MF's acting. He was great this episode, though I'm a fan of his (and everyone else LOL)

Thank you. The character has been missing his father since we met him.

Not to mention the fact that Jack was told by Sawyer what Christian was feeling about his son just before his death. Of course, Jack loves his father.
