Sun will be on a lifeboat watching the freighter explode from a distance and everyone will come to the conclusion that Jin is dead.
Just like he did on the raft, Jin jumped into the sea and Daniel will find him on his way back. Seeing the freighter's no longer there he'll attempt to go back to the Island with the occupants+Jin.

I think Sun will certainly believe he is dead, but I agree Jin will live to become one of the LeftBehinds.

I hope you're right but after the set up from this episode, I fear the worst for Jin and Desmond.

i don't think they could kill desmond off. not with penny still looking for him. for all we know they end up meeting up in the next season. just because he's not in the O6 doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a story!
Sun is a central character, and the only major storyline that she has continually has centers around her relationship with Jin in one way or another. I believe Jin is alive for story-line mystery purposes to keep her story line alive and active.

I so hope so. I just love Jin--now. Not when he was jerk in S1.

With Sun looking at the door like that waiting for Jin to come threw it. It looks like the boat will blow up and everyone down below will die. The people on deck maybe throwen in to the water.
That would take out Jin, Desmond and Micheal all in one shot.:frown:

I think that Michael will redeem himself by sending Jin and Desmond away so that he can detonate the explosives, blow the the freighter, and save the rest of the losties. Jin and Desmond will probably have left in a lifeboat. Sun will be leaving in the helicopter when she sees the freighter explode and assumes the worst.
Interesting thought One: Michael, up til now, cannot die. What will happen when the freighter blows?
Interesting Thought Two: Michael, Desmond, and Jin don't succeed in blowing up the freighter. Instead, the island and all inhabitants blow to Kingdom Com (assuming it's a diffrent place from the island). This is why Jack has gone crazy, he thinks he saw the island explode while in the helicopter. He learns about the time traveling and thinks that if he can get back to the island somehow before it blows, he can somehow save everyone he left behind by preventing the explosiong and circumstances leading up to it. Jack the hero again.
Interesting Thought Three: The island doesn't blow up because Locke has moved it before the ship bearing all the C-4 can ram it? Or something like that.

Except I think Michael is in "the coffin" so how would that work.
