I LOVED the 2 hour finale. Several times I had chills going up and down my body. The way Sun screamed for Jin was heartbreaking. The ending will give me a lot to think about over the next EIGHT months!! (Why does this show make me wish my life away??)

Absolutely mind-blowing!!

Locke in the casket!!

Sun on a rampage!!

Claire telling Kate not to go back!! (I think that's Kate's subconscious.)

Sawyer jumping from the chopper!

Was Jin killed??!

What happened to Dan and the zodiac??

Hurley playing chess with Eko!!

Charlotte is Annie?? How did Miles know??!

Sayid whisking Hurley to "safety"!

So many things to absorb and I sure haven't had time to do it.

Lost writers, you have done it again!! :thud: :ntworthy:

Can't wait for season 5!!!!!!

That's all I can say. There were a few negative things, and I commented in another thread, but all in all, I loved this episode, and cried like a baby in the appropriate spots, and laughed and was shocked at other parts.

Great job, PTB.

To me the funniest part of the whole ep was when John was watching the Orchid Orientation vid, and Halliwax is telling him to NEVER put anything metal inside the vault...as Ben is loading the thing down with all the metal he can lay his hands on! I just about fell on the floor!

You better believe it. Best is when Ben is running by with something metal in his hands. The camera goes to Locke, who has his mouth open and his hand pointing at the off-screen Ben running by. Like he's about to say, "Uh, excuse me. Ben? You know you're not supposed to put metal in there? Right? Ben?"

Loved it - so many ambiguities (sp) - have to watch it again. For some reason the Locke in casket did not surprise me ... what a show - at the end of every episode I say " I hate this show" (lie) and then I rewatch numerous times and talk about it...

I especially liked the emphasis on the Jack/Science v. Locke/Faith theme. That's been around since Season One and is one of my absolute favorite character dynamics/themes of the show.

I honestly think that this Season's finale was without a doubt the BEST finale. So many crucial things happened that I can't even begin to comprehend. The Jin/Sun scene was extremely moving. Another scene that was amazing was the Penny and Desmond reuniting, I swear I almost cried seeing them back together. I can't get over how amazing this episode was. I can't wait until the next Season. I need to commit crimes to get my hands on the new season ASAP!!!

Very Good. Not the shocker of the S3 finale, but better in other ways, notably reveals.

We finally recieved answers to:

-who was in the casket,
-why Charlotte seemed so excited to be on the island,
-how the Oceanic 6 came to be,
-whether or not the island would actually move,
-the purpose of the orchid station,
-whether or not Jin dies or simply stayed behind (personally I think he's dead.
and,
-gave us a Pesmond reunion.

Plus like any good finale, it left numerous questions:

-where did the Island go?
-Claire's dissappearence, WTF?
-is Christian the Angel Of Death?
-is S5 going to be about going back to the island, with the last three years on the island revealed through flashbacks?

and:

-Will the writers/producers of Lost get any royalty checks from Desperate Housewives for their Flash Forward Finale?

All in all, I'm quite satisfied. 13/14 episodes of this Island Under Siege plot was just enough. The Writers/Producers continue their burlesque dance, showing us just enough leg to keep the mystique.

Absolutely stunning. It was emotional and thrilling the entire two hours. The ENTIRE cast deserves an Emmy nomination! Brilliant acting! Yunjin deserves Best Actress! TOQ showed he deserved that Emmy last year. Best Ensemble!!

As far as the episode. I laughed and cried, mostly cried. I was very happy for Desmond, at least someone (so far) has a somewhat happy ending(but for how long). Sun and Jin broke my heart!! She reacted the way a real person would were that to happen to them. Emotion everywhere! Matt Fox, way to go. AND top it all off we got to see Sawyer shirtless one last time. :P

Good finale, loved the majority of it. Not quite up to the standards of last season's finale, not to say that it was bad, not at all, but i think the death of characters needs to be made more of. By the end of the episode, i'd almost forgotten that Jin and Michael are dead (or so we think), whereas last season Charlie's death was so much more memorable, not just because he's a personal favourite of mine, but just the way he went out....

To the good though, i wouldn't have guessed that it was Locke in the coffin. Unfortunately, while looking for a stream online (being in the UK, with the torrent going slower than [insert Hurley joke here], one of them had a thumbnail of him in the coffin, which i was more than a bit dissapointed about...

Terrific acting from the whole cast, loved Yunjin's emotion when the frater exploded, very genuine and touching.

Most of the flash-forwards were well done, though the Hurley/Walt one did seem a little un-needed...

As with this time of the series last season, and the seasons before that, i can't wait for the 5th season. Can't believe it's another HUGE wait for new epis though, 8 months?! Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaa....

WOW.

That was, actually, the Best season finale we've ever had on this show.

The freighter going *boom*, Claire being in Kate's dream (and I'm not sure that it was just a dream, either), Hurley seeing dead people on a regular basis... I started actually liking Ben...

Highlight? (Well, the main one...) It was a little bit deus ex machina, but Penny's boat finding the O6, Frank and Desmond. And just about everything involving Penny and Des. I was wondering how they were supposed to come up with the "official" story... and now we know!

My only regrets are that a)no more Jin and b)Michael finally did something to make me stop hating him and it had to be self-sacrifice to save the others.

I can get over those, though. Keamy's dead. I'd've probably been happy just with that. Everything else is bonus for me. (so... "loved it" is kind of an understatement...)

I loved it. I gave it a 9 out of 10. I felt like so much happened in the 2 hours. Even by the time hour 1 was over, I couldn't believe there was still an hour left. The only thing keeping this episode as a 10 were a couple of quibbles I had with the pacing, but overall I thought it was an excellent finale and answered all the questions I felt needed to be answered this season.

I love how each season is sort of a story unto itself as well as a part of the larger story. A lot of little things that highlighted this episode for me:

- Sun. Her acting when the frieghter blew up, as well as her scene with Widmore. Does anyone else think that she might be the Economist?

- Frank, Miles, Charlotte, and Faraday. I have really warmed up to all the newbies this season and am glad to see that they seem to be part of next season (maybe not Frank, but definitely the other three). TPTB have done an excellent job with the character additions. First Ben, Desmond, and Juliet, and now these. Great casting and writing.

- Walt. Now his age is appropriate. How neat is that! It's been three years since he left the show and he visits Hurley three years in the future. I'm curious if he will have more of a role now that his age can be explained a bit. I was waiting for him to ask Hurley for his $83K that he won playing backgammon :)

- The frozen donkey wheel. I know some are complaining about this and think it is lame, but thought it was pretty cool. We've seen evidence of previous civilization on the Island and I believe this is some remnant of that.

- Locke. His character has come full circle. Aside from the coffin issue ;) When he was pleading for the safety of the people on the freighter and talking to Jack about miracles - I thought it was perfect. He has had a great arc, with both highs and lows. The smile on his face when he joined the Others was perfect! Not sure what to make of his apparent demise, but I don't think for a second he is off the show.

- The Oceanic 6. I loved how all season the 6 members were never together. Even in part 1 they would come together and separate. I'm sure this was intentional and it worked for me. When they were finally all together, it was amazing. At first, I was worried about Desmond and Frank - I was wondering what was going to happen to them.

- Penny and Desmond. Need I say more?

- The Island disappearing. I did not expect that at all. Seeing the bubble in the ocean where it once was was pretty cool! I had assumed it would move but never thought about what it would look like. Nice effects.

Anyway, all in all, I really thought this was a great finale to a great season. You can tell the show is cruising towards it's end game. The show has opened up so much more each season to reveal its mythology and I am still enjoying the ride. I can't wait to see what they do next year!

I normally don't bother to respond to the "love it" or "didn't love it" threads, but there's so much being posted in the "didn't love it" thread this time that I have to defend it.

No, it wasn't as good as last season's finale. But why is anyone surprised? Everyone knew it was nearly impossible to top that. I think in many ways, it was more solid than TTLG because it wasn't relying on a Shock Twist Ending (TM). I have no problem whatsoever with the frozen wheel. I read the spoilers, and I didn't get the hate then and I don't get it now that I've seen it. It's Lost. How is a frozen wheel suddenly so unbelievable?

I thought it was an excellent episode and I'm SO GLAD that Desmond is ALIVE (whew) and off the Island with Penny! I didn't expect to see a reunion so soon. That ruled. Also glad that all the Freighter Folk made it through alive.

I think once people let the finale sink in after several months (we gots time guys!) that it'll be seen as the solid finale it is. I give it a 9/10.

I loved it too!

Best parts:

All of Hurley's lines
Mr. Eko!
Kate/Sawyer kiss
Sawyer's heroic jump
Sawyer and Juliet on the beach (I could ship them...)
Lapidus lives! I hope we see him again.
Desmond lives! And Penny/Desmond reunion! <3
Christian's line to Michael -- I got chills
Claire showing up in Kate's dream
Walt!!
Ben is amazing.
Jack is in denial -- but MF did an incredible job with the "heroic" character who has gone wrong.
Sun was heart-wrenching then absolutely badass.
Ninja others!
Dead Keamy; I can't blame Ben for that one.
Time-travelling bunnies!

I don't believe Jin is dead.

What I wish we had seen:
Charlie cameo
Wasn't Greg Grumburg supposed to have a cameo...? Or was that just a rumor?
The Oceanic 6 interacting more with Penny
Some sort of goodbye scene between Jack and Juliet :/
Jin being picked up by Daniel's boat
What happened to Daniel

First watch through on iTunes today. It wasn't a 10, but I did enjoy it. There were some cheesy parts and it probably asked more questions than answered. I should have taken some notes, but oh well. I liked
1) The scene with Juliet and Sawyer on the beach, both sorta realizing this is where they need to be.
2) Charlotte's staying probably from Miles' weird commentary
3) Michael was allowed to finally die, albeit in a somewhat cheap way, Great actor, but face it, the show wrote him off 2 seasons ago, then had to rework him back in.
4) The Frozen Donkey Wheel. Say what you will, but it just asks more questions.
5) Desmond & Penny. 'nuf said.
6) Sun and Widmore's meeting, although I'm not certain how that's going to play out.
7) Sawyer's sacrifice for the others in the chopper.
8) Locke asking questions, seemingly drawn from the fansites.
9) Integration of prior known events.
10) That natives finally getting their leader. I'm fascinated by what they will do now they have Locke.

I didn't like:
1) That Keamy died. He was the best threat to the characters in 2 seasons.
2) Freezing the battery to stop the chemical reaction generating the power, yet the light was green/on.
3) That from deep underground, in a reenforced bunker (that's probably magnetically/rf shielded), a small, battery operated device was able to send a signal at least 5mi to the freighter to detonate the C4.

New questions:
1) The scenes that were obviously continued from before. Did they shoot the entire scene before, then just edit it, or did they go back and finish shooting the scene recently?
2) Obviously, Where Did The Island Go? I'm sure we'll delve into that question in s5 & s6.

And probably more, but its time to go home...

As always, "Lost" is the very last major finale of May sweeps, bringing the season to a rousing close. I've never been disappointed with a "Lost" finale, and that trend certainly continues this time around. The more I think about it, the more I like it. It's going to be a very long wait for the fifth season, but at this point, I have absolutely no doubt that it will be worth it.

Lost 4.13/4.14: There's No Place Like Home: Part II (http://entil2001.com/series/lost/season4/lost4-13.html)

Overall, this episode was a satisfying season finale, completing the season arc while sowing the seeds for the next chapter. While some immediate questions were answered, most of the larger mysteries remain, leaving plenty of room to maneuver in the final two seasons. Even so, this was the final piece in an important bridge towards resolution.

I think it was ok. Not too much stuff was revealed, but enough to keep us hooked.

Also the O6 background was pretty good explained. I also liked how they tied in the "2 guys on the polar station" scene.

There wasn't any real jaw-dropper scenes, Locke being in the coffin doesn't really mean he is gone.

Loved it, can't believe people are saying last season's finale was better. No.Way! Last season had maybe ONE shock. I couldn't keep up with the amount of shocking things in this finale!

The island "moving" was AWESOME. Although bittersweet watching Ben turn the wheel, wonder what was going through his mind...

Yunjin Kim...I have no words...amazing...I cried in that scene.

LOVED the Keamy/Sayid fight. And Keamy's true death was scary. Ben went all Norman Bates! (Not that I wouldn't, given what Keamy said).

I got so excited when the dude on the boat said "Ms Widmore", I jumped up and down :P Beautiful reunion, glad they left one kiss secret.

Locke in the coffin didn't shock me, it was just really, really weird. So many questions surrounding that. And the alternate choices for the coffin were even weirder. Surely they were just decoy endings because Kate would never miss Sawyer's funeral and Penny would never miss Desmond's and Jack would consider Des a "friend". Odd. Also weird that Jack didn't consider Locke a friend, I know they never got along but...

I KNEW it wouldn't be Ben in the coffin. Everyone seemed sure it would be but to me it just never made sense. He's way too integral to, well, everything. Not that Locke isn't but he's...settled now...Ben isn't.

Must admit I loved when Kate lectured Jack at the beginning, he did deserve that.

All in all, it was an amazing episode, probably my favourite of all so far. Right up there with Lockdown and Shape of Things to Come. Everyone involved did an incredible job.

Amazing!

I would say this is the best season finale. Loved seeing Ben go into the bowels of the island to move it - that it moves by turning something physically rather than pushing a button is great - takes on an ancient feel again. And seeing him put on the parker and waiting for him to hurt his arm was exciting.

Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Roll on season 5.....(wish I could time travel to go watch it!)

Honestly, I hope alot of the people posting in the Hated It forum come in here. I really loved this episode.

I think the reason I enjoy this show much is the Sci-Fi aspect of it. I always get into debate with my roommate, if this will have events that are superhuman or supernatural, and it was always my belief it would turn and exibit some aspects of a sci-fi show with supernatural happenings. Some people unhappy probably believe the writers wrote themselves into "a hole", but I think it is great story telling.

The people who hated it, hated the wheel. POWERS THAT BE! I LOVED THE WHEEL! I think it was a great way to throw people off, and I feel it really ties in with the background of the show, the super secret happenings and physics of the show that everyone claws deep into earth to find. This was a great throw, sure it was a tease, but it was great. I can't wait to see what it leads to, and I sure there will be more questions along the way.

Shark was not jumped, unless you were not expecting this to be a Sci-Fi show, in that case, you are watching the wrong show. Great episode, loved the wheel. Can't wait for season 5!

I'm actually quite surprised so many people have been moaning about this season's finale double episode, I really enjoyed it (though it's very, very rare that I don't enjoy an episode of Lost!) & thought it was a real roller-coaster of a finale!

I thought the frozen donkey wheel bit actually worked pretty well as it ties into the ancient civilisation part of the island mythology & that the DI was barely scratching the surface of some of what the island is about. To move the island just using something that's obviously scientific involving the station itself wouldn't have worked as well in terms of the story as the technology has to be explained & is then totally open to scrutiny.

Thought Sawyer's "kenny rogers" line to Lapidus & the line about "what'd this one do to tick you off freckles" line to kate about one of the dead mercs were both pretty funny, as well as Ben loading up the vault with metallic objects while the video tells Locke that no metals should ever be put in there!

I was really pleased that Sawyer made it back to the island after his big sacrifice, & that Desmond & Lapidus were so involved in the rescue too- hopefully it won't be the last we see of those two & also Penny. The Des & Penny reunion was cool too & has bought a conclusion of sorts to their story which has been a recurring theme of the last 3 season finales (seasons 2,3 & 4)- I also really like the way they basically staged the O6's return to civilisation off the coast of membata too, as it wasn't how I'd expected them to reach safety!

What's happened to Daniel & the red shirts on the zodiac boat though?! Have they been swept away with the island? They've also cleverly left open all manner of questions in the flash forwards too, so with the on-island stuff involving Locke, the Others, Juliet, Sawyer, Miles, Charlotte (born on the island??) & also probably Rose & Bernard, there's loads for the writers to work with in the last 2 seasons!

All I need now is my own ancient frozen donkey wheel so I can try & jump forward to next January to catch Season 5! (then again, maybe not!)

PS - also thought Jin, Sun & Michael were all also great in this episode too. Sun was horribly believable when she saw the freighter blow up.

I loved it! It was intense, I was exhausted by the end! I only had one criticism - it all happened too fast, there wasn't much time to react emotionally to some of the events. I almost didn't have enough time to be moved by Sawyer's leap from the helicopter before mourning Jin. Other than that - GREAT episode (SUPER bummed about Locke, though).

For me, it was the best ever! There was so much going on, so much revealed, it was amazing! It was almost overwhelming, but in a good way! There was every kind of moment possiable! When I realized it was Penny's boat, I was yelling( I thought for a moment"the Others?")yes, yes, yes,!!!!!!!! Des and Penny,I cried!

And then Locke in the coffin...........shocker!!!!!!! I had never even considered him, thinking he would never leave the island. It was awesome! It just keeps evolving,it's so amazing!

It was amazing. At commercial breaks, I had to convince myself I was watching a TV show -- not a summer blockbuster movie. The fans who were disappointed on this board have credible complaints, but maybe the standard they are comparing this episode to is previous Lost finales, what they hoped/expected to see from Lost. I've seen many movies that didn't have the passion and action in this episode of Lost.

My point is, TV isn't supposed to be this fantastic. I loved the pace, the answers, the questions, the humor, and the incredible acting.

i loved it so much. i love lost's finales and this one did not disappoint. there was so much to take in that it's fun to watch over and over.

i loved the spectacular kiss between penny and des....such a tear jerker. i was totally surprised by it all. when i heard widmore, it didn't even occur to me that it would be penny. so happy.

i think that michael emerson is totally cool. i loved the scene with kate and ben. kate helping ben? ha!

sawyer jumping....and then swimming onto shore....so hot.

the whole episode rocked! cannot wait until January 09!

It left both my husband and myself with our mouths hanging open. It will be so very difficult to wait until the start of next season!
