The first hour was awesome, the way it started right from the way TTLG ended last year, all the action, etc. The last hour was not as good, much slower and nothing really happened, except for Penny and Desmond finally getting back together. You could definitely see that the first hour was written as the original finale. Plus the way it ended, kind of disappointing to see Locke in the coffin. Oh well, what to do? Definitely not as good as TTLG. But I did give it an 8, only because the first hour was soooooo good.

This was the best finale yet--not as shocking as last years, but it was exciting and gave a sense of resolution, while managing to set cool things in motion for next year. Not the most earth shattering episode, but one of the best crafted, for sure.

Woah! :jawdrop: The final scene alone will have me climbing the wall all summer!!!!!!!
"We'll have to take him with us too!" That line was the only thing that kept me from throwing something through the tv screen! To me it means that the island is gonna raise Locke to life again. (It better!)

As for the rest of the episode - So much going on!
Penny & Des!
Sun & Widmore! (Widmore & Paik connection!)
Charlotte has been to the island before!
Is Jin dead?
Hurley & Mr Echo playing chess?
Wer'e gonna have MORE than enough to discuss all summer!

I thought it was kind of blah. I'm worried that season 5 and six aren't going to be very good.

I thought it was good and shocking and scary and exciting... just not knock-my-socks-off spectacular like Exodus or TTLG or LTDA even. But still, I mean, I don't really have complaints, per se. I really enjoyed it and am totally excited for next season!

Gave it an 8.

Oh, did love the very scary parallel with the raft rescue at the end of Exodus. I was terrified that it would be something like when Walt was abducted. Eek!

I'm not rating it yet.

But it felt hollow. There were very few moments when I felt like I was watching LOST.

Excellent scenes:

*Hurley and Sayid at Santa Rosa. Some of the best FF scenes have happened at Santa Rosa. VERY nice mention of Eko because I completely expected it to be Charlie. I should have known it would be too easy.
*Walt and Hurley. Not terribly revealing but awesome nonetheless to see Tall Regular High School Cutie Walt and have their friendship brought back in the same bittersweet way that all of the off Island interractions have been underscored.
*that they're trying to protect their friends left behind.
*JIN. I  him. Given how calm and collected Christian was, I totally expect a flip switched somewhere to reverse all that so whatever. Still love him.
*Charlotte.
*Miles
*Charlotte and Daniel and Miles.
*drunk Juliet. EM in those scenes. I loved the stillness and the numbness of her pain.
*Penny. I'm her fangirl. I don't care about Desmond so I'm not interested in that part, but her helping them out and masterminding the cover up with Jack was cool.

...................

I need to stop here tonight.

With enough rum (since that seems to be the drink of choice) MAYBE I can forget this was one of the weakest episodes of LOST I've ever seen and hm... I think I'm forgetting something.... wonder what it was...

Oh....

Yeah...

Ben caused a purple sky event by turning. a. freakin. wheel. And grunting and screwing up his face and crying while he was at it.

And they played it with the swelling music as if it's supposed to be this big emotional moment and not the most ridiculous thing I've seen on television this part of Alias.

Pass the rum.

The first hour was great and when it ended, I thought that would have been a good ending for the season. I did not care for the second hour. I hope Jin is still floating or back on the island. And all those Losties and the good freighters just running around on the deck running in the wrong direction if you noticed. It was pretty choppy and did not flow.

I gave it a 7. Disappointed.

One good thing about this episode: I am no longer addicted to Lost. I've already invested too much time not to see where the story ends, but at this point I'm pissed. We are 2/3 of the way through the series, and we don't know shit. I'm tired of being strung along - I'll keep up with the show like I said, but I think if I miss episodes next season it won't be that bad. I thought I'd eventually get some substance, some concrete answer about the island, smokey, anything... at this point I don't care as much as I did a few hours ago.

And this was a shortened season! God only knows what kind of crap would have been stuffed in to make more episodes had they had a full season. God only knows why they didn't do more with this two hours.

9 because Jin "got blown up"

I like how Ben's motivations are once again completely ambiguous. Over and over again I keep thinking about how he once told Jack something to the tone of "I want you to want to help me" Verrrrrry manipulative, eh?

I also liked the first hour fight scene between Sayid and Keamy, the apparent conclusion of the Penny-Desmond story arc and Claire appearing in Kate's dream to warn against bringing Aaron back to the island. Why, oh why???? Guess I'm gonna have to watch.

Super Sun is definitely HAWT!! I like her vengeful demeanor and can't wait to see more of it.

The donkey wheel was funny. That's going to be my pet project for the summer. That and theorizing about who this guy Jack and Ben were talking about in the final scene.

10. This made me wish all Lost episodes were two hours. Too many things I liked about the episode to list here, but I will mention that I really liked the idea of the old wheel harnessing such a powerful phenomenon. It was cool to see that behind (well, below) all the DHARMA technology in the Orchid Station was an apparently ancient phenomenon that had been discovered and harnessed long ago. Oh, and I found Ben turning the wheel to be a very poignant moment.

For those of us who knew from the first time we watched Lost that it was sci-fi, and from those of us who enjoy the mystery and adventure and root for our Losties (and others who we "adopt," a big thank you for providing us a great season. Tonight's episode was so filling that I haven't yet begun to contemplate waiting another 7-8 months for another installment of my favorite show, Lost.

Kudos to all those involved with the creation of tonight's episode. It was a great way to cap off what was a wonderful season of Lost.

Loved it! 10! Exodus is still my favorite finale, but this is definitely second. So much to think about (Jeremy Bentham? What is up with Claire? Who is Charlotte? How are the O6 going to get back?) for next season. I can't wait! :)

There weren't a huge amount of squeeing moments for me, but the only finale that has ever done that was Exodus. I still thought it was great though.

We got some answers (why they had to lie, how Sawyer "chose" to stay, who was in the coffin :eek2:), and we got some new questions (why Ben can't go back, what "bad" things happened after they left, and how the hell Locke ended up DEAD).

We got a lot of action - a boat explosion, a helicopter crash, a long jump, and a moved Island. And my personal fave, Sayid (almost) kicking Keamy's ***. That was awesome. So glad they didn't off him in the finale - I love that character.

And then there was the emotional components - Sun's grief over Jin, Desmond and Penny's reunion, Sawyer's sacrifice for Kate and the others (and the 'spectacular kiss' WHOO HOO! :clapping: ), Claire's emotional demand not to let Aaron go back. And I actually teared up at Desmond and Jack's parting - "I'll see you in another life, brother." :sob:

As for my favorite character, Sawyer - I always feared they'd have him sacrifice himself for someone else, but they managed to have him make the gesture, without really having to die. That, I did not expect. Really enjoyed the last of our Sawyer/Hurley scenes for awhile too. I wonder if Hurley's "thanks for coming back for me" will be echoed by Sawyer some time in the not-so-near future. And the kiss . . . :8: I'll save the rest of my squeeing over Sawyer for the Dimples thread, but I have to say I was very happy with his part in the finale.

So it had the mythology, the action, and the emotion. Even if it didn't come off as cohesive or richly written as Exodus, I was not disappointed.

10. Brilliant, as always.

While there wasn't one enormous shock at the end as there was with TTLG (still my favorite finale), it was two hours (three, really) of greatness.

Although, like a dumbass, I literally jumped when Ben showed up behind Jack at the funeral home -- I had been SO sure it would be Ben in the coffin.

That said, I still don't feel that Jin or Locke are really dead -- or dead for good.

Well, I'm sort of torn. I thought there were some good moments, but yeah, the whole thing left me underwhelmed. I need stronger reasons for the O6's lies. I understand Jack's reasoning about Widmore sending more people to the island to kill everyone, but I just needed more danger, I suppose. More urgency. The island disappeared. The O6 saw this. How is Widmore supposed to find it again? It's been implied ever since TTLG that the reasons they were lying were much more sinister, so, I was expecting something along those lines.

And I'm all confused about Claire's message. Last we saw her she was with Papa Shephard and agreeing to his wishes. Now Papa Shephard is haunting Jack to go back to the island, but Claire is telling Kate not to bring Aaron? How are we to interpret that?

If they resurrect Locke (as in his body gets to live again and walk around as if he'd never died), I'm done. And I've never said that before. If I wanted to see a story about zombies, and the living dead, I know which section to visit in my local Blockbusters. That would be too much. I don't have a problem with Locke being a spiritual guide of sorts, as Christian seems to be, but resurrection...erm... No, thank you.

I'm just tired of all the waiting around for stuff to happen. Real stuff. Stuff that moves the story forward. This season ended pretty much the same way Season 3 did: Some people got off the island, others were left behind, those who left have to go back. What did we learn this season? Very few things of real importance to the main mysteries:

Jack and Kate were not the only ones who left. Sun, Aaron, Sayid and Hurley accompanied them.
The island's properties cause people's consciousness to jump around in time and they need a constant to get their bearings, so to speak
DHARMA harnessed these properties to make organic beings travel in time and space
Widmore wants to find the island, Ben won't let him. They are engaged in some sort of battle. Ben wants revenge and wants to kill Penny
The island can stop people from killing themselves or dying of any other cause, natural or man made, until their destiny has been fulfilled
Sayid is working for Ben as an assassin of Widmore's people
Sun wants to work for Widmore
Ben displeased Jacob so much, that his punishment was to be banished from the island forever
Widmore wants to kill everyone on the island, and apparently everyone who was ever on the island
The ancient tribe that inhabits the island know how to move it /make it disappear (perhaps temporarily, as it's implied by the Orchid's video)
If you're the lucky winner in the "who gets to move the island?" contest, you can never go back. How does any of that move the plot forward from the storylines set up in Season 1 and the first few episodes of Season 2? It doesn't.

We've known since Season 1 that the island is a place were supernatural things happen. We've known it's a place where miracles take place. We know it's special. We've known that the Losties have something to do there. That's the premise of the entire show, very well set up by Locke's destiny speeches. We've also known for a while that scientists tried to manipulate the island and failed (DHARMA). We can presume such a place would be the cause of many a powerful struggle. So, now what?

If the island is so powerful that it can stop people from dying, how come it didn't stop the O6 from leaving in the first place? Did they need to leave to finally be convinced of their destiny? Because I think such a powerful entity could find a few different ways to get that point across. How come this entity didn't find a way to prevent Widmore from ever finding it?
What does space/time travel have to do with anything? how does it change the purpose/destiny of the survivors? Because right now, I'm thinking it doesn't. Whether there's time/space traveling at work or not, the O6 are supposed to do something on the island. They've been meant to do that "work" since they crash landed there, so all the time/space traveling shenanigans accomplish nothing more than to excite all the fans that love sci-fi
Why does Widmore wait three years to start hunting down the O6? He's powerful enough to stage a fake crash site, bodies and all, and cover it up effectively. He knows the O6 are lying. Why didn't he use his resources to lean on them before? The O6 are roaming around fairly unprotected, distributed all over the place. A guy who can keep massive grave robbing secret could have kidnapped Dr. Shephard a long time ago, while Sayid was busy whacking someone in Germany, Hurley was locked up in an institution, Kate was taking Aaron to a playdate, and Sun was busy with a corporate take-over. He could have taken any of them, actually.
Everything else (Ben, Widmore, Penny, Desmond, etc.) is just a delaying plot device. Ben and Widmore's battle is just a distraction, an obstacle to be overcome in order to perform the final task (whatever destiny the Losties have)Right now I feel this story has been just one delay after another. I do think TPTB have, and have had from the beginning, a map to the overall story: beginning, middle and end; but, I don't think their original story warranted this many episodes. I think the work the O6 are destined to do on the island will be important in a cosmic way, but I fear all the delaying devices (love triangles, time and space traveling, international power struggle to gain control of the island, Ben's manipulations and ambiguous nature, bloodthirsty mercenaries) will take the wind out those sails. That is, by the time we find out the show's "raison d'être", it will leave many of us disappointed. There have been too many plot contrivances at play. Too many characters acting idiotically to hide the answers to the mysteries. When we find out what the O6's destiny is, we'll probably conclude that a few conversations between Richard's people and the survivors could have accomplished that way back in Season 1, or mid Season 2. And that will cause great disappointment.

In closing, may I just say that while I think Desmond and Penny's story is peripheral to the main plot, that's the way you do an epic romance with impact. I don't ship anyone, never been in any shippers' threads, was never invested in Des-Penny, other than hoping they'd eventually reunite, but they grabbed me yesterday. I realize for some people it might have been sappy, but for me, a romantic story is about LOVE when the pair is clearly in love with each other and circumstances, not other love interests, keep them apart. When their love for each other does not falter, when they are not attracted or even interested in pursuing anything romantic with anybody else. That's what makes me want to root for them. That the're faithful to their love and true to their feelings no matter what.

The whole Sawyer-Kate-Jack thing does nothing for me, other than get me disgusted at Kate. I can understand someone being unsure of their feelings but the constant back and forth has become a joke now, not to mention it demeans the Kate character, while the boys are constantly standing up for each other (respecting guy code and all that). Not that the whole triangle mess hasn't made both Jack and Sawyer do pretty stupid things as well. I can pretty much guess what's going to happen next with those three: Jack will get cleaned up and convince the rest of the O6 that they need to go back, Kate will start to flirt with him again, when they get back to the island Sawyer will be part of the picture as well, and then Kate will go back to being a ping pong ball; the whole thing won't be resolved until they end the series in Season 6. Absolutely disgusting. How anyone finds that particular part of the story credible is beyond me.

I don't know how to rate this yet, I'll have to think about it for a while, but, right off the bat, I'd say this is Lost's weakest finale to date. Pass the rum, clauds and lostmio!

i gave it a '9' - but the more i think of it maybe it should be an 8?
good stuff, but not sure it really 'did it for me'
seems like the first fifteen minutes and the last fifteen minutes were the real deal-
the other hour and a half were just filler....
dont get me wrong, i enjoyed it, but there have been several episodes this season (imo) that were much better-

I gave it an 8. I enjoyed the eppy, but it wasn't my favorite LOST eppy of all time. My favorite part, for some reason, was seeing Walt. I hope that we see him more next year. Filming a lot in LA next year should help that cause...

I gave it a 9 -- very strong ep! Not as good as either The Constant or TTLG, simply because it's hard to top either Charlie's heart-rending death (a cried during that scene last year :frown: ) or the amazing complete 180 game changer of the introduction of the FF's.

Still, Locke in the coffin is HUGE! Though he was my first guess after last year's finale, I didn't expect the writers to actually go that route (my second guess was Ben, and they certainly had us thinking the same thing in the finale!) And there are tons of questions to ponder going forward =

* what/where/how did the island move? (in time/space, etc.)
* What goes so wrong on the island under the command of Capt Locke?
* Why do the O6 (plus Des, Ben, and Locke, I'm assuming) need to go back?
* Why was Locke allowed to kill himself/die? (my guess, it was the only way to bring the O6 together and back to the island)
* What happened to Claire? Jin?
* Was Sun playing Widmore? Or is she genuine? (I'm going with the former)

The action was amazing in the ep! The whole sequence with Keamy in the Orchid, Ben taking him out, the bomb about to go off -- I was so on the edge of my seat the whole time! Very well done!

And the Des/Penny kiss! Sigh -- too beautiful and sweet for words, the way he leapt out of the raft and onto the boat so desparately! I love them so much! I just hope Des stays integrated with the rest of the off-island action next year, rather than disappearing except for the occassional creepy-Ben moment.

S5 cannot come soon enough!

10. Because it rocks!

The acting was amazing! I'm still in awe right now. Did you see Sayid vs. Keamy? Woah... Kate rocks. Claire was still freaky/ghostly. And man, the people who figured out that Locke was the one in the coffin way back after season 3 were very good!

A 10, of course.

This wasn't mind-exploding like the finale last year (or even the year before that). The one big twist was Locke/"Bentham" in the coffin. That's more of a "hmmm...." than a "!!!!!!!!!!" (I was ABSOLUTELY CONVINCED it was going to be Ben 2.0.) Why did Locke leave the island? To protect it, of course. That would have been a great sacrifice. Why is Kate so disgusted with the idea of attending his funeral?

Now for the great parts:

- Moving the island. I had expected something with a great deal of sound and fury. The island disappearing in a white aura, then the little ripple on the clear blue sea . . . an image I won't forget!

- Ben and the Frozen Donkey Wheel. How low-tech can you get??? The image and all the images it conjured up. Archimedes and "Give me a lever large enough and I can move the world." Sisyphus eternally rolling the rock up the mountain. Harold Lloyd on the clock face. Ben's Giant Hamster Wheel. And on and on.

- Ben dragging all the metal junk into the secret chamber as a dumbfounded Locke sort of waves his finger.

_ "I see you didn't find the anthuriums." "I don't know what they look like."

- Sawyer's heroic leap from the plane. And the fact that Hurley didn't jump--nor did anyone else. Jack's "He chose to stay! I'm the one who saved you!" a couple of episodes ago seemed tacky then--but now Jack looks like the jerk of the 21st century. (But what Sawyer whispered in Kate's ear . . . certainly there wasn't time to tell her "find my daughter Clementine at 12345 S. 122nd Street, Albuquerque, NM" or "the treasure is buried 12 paces to the left of . . ." or "Kill Hibbs--you can find him at ..." or anything very substantial. Another hmmm.)

- Desmond and Penelope!!! Desmond didn't die! (And you know they were trying to scare us.) Except that, as with many things this season, the payoff seemed to come too soon. What role will these two play in the final seasons? (And what about Frank--is he out of the picture now that he's delivered his cargo? Or will the crusty old conspiracy theorist keep meddling?)

- Jin deciding too late not to sacrifice himself. And Sun about to leap out of the helicopter herself. Jin cannot possibly be dead. He's already survived another explosion on another boat. The image recalling the chaotic, shameful scene on the roof of the American embassy in Saigon in 1975. What about all the other people on the boat, who were just sacrificed without being invited onto the helicopter even being clued in what was going on? Such as the pilot who wasn't going to go in until his fathometer was working? And what was up with that guy calmly hosing the deck during Armageddon? Talk about rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic ....

- The lights of the boat approaching the raft in the darkness. My son pointed out that this was EXACTLY the same scene we saw in Season 1. I wondered for a moment whether we were going to be seeing Gorton's Fisherman Tom.

- Corporate Pantsuit Stiletto Heels Sun. Trying to make a deal with Widmore. And pointedly being on good terms with her mother.

- The rewind of last season's final scene--literally, with Kate reversing the engine and going back to argue and shout.

- Drunken Juliet on the beach--watching Sawyer swagger ashore with an insouciant quip, having just sacrificed everything. What kind of relationship will those two forge next year?

- Christian--"You can go now." Not your garden variety ghost.

- Miles staying. Charlotte staying. Charlotte an island native!

- Faraday and a Zodiac full of redshirts. Open water. Too bad Penelope didn't search for them. Will they find safe harbor? What will that do to the O6 story?

- Richard and the Others saving the day. Of course we knew it would happen, but it was still cool. Locke making his way to their camp . . . "Hello, John."

- Badass shirtless Keamy. Kind of an organic Terminator. RIP.

- Ben: "So?" (But the idea that Ben would lose control, even after being taunted over Alex's death, didn't ring true. He's such a master of the same manipulation technique.)

- The extra footage with the pop-up version of Part 1. So now the names of the three extra people are canon. But why? Boone was rich, Charlie was famous, Libby was an unknown. Wouldn't someone be asking for a body to be reburied at home? (And Sayid--"There is nothing for me in Iraq." Kind of a pointless line, except that we know that when he finally returned to Iraq, he indeed had nothing left in the world.)

I gave it a 9. The finales of seasons 1 and 2 were better, but still a very good episode.

Some points:

I did not see the end coming. I wonder how Locke got off the island and when.

I really hope Jin isn't dead, but it looks pretty grim.

Is it just me or is the CGI really bad on this show?I mean, when the freighter blew up and the helicopter crashed it looked like shit.

I also feel that they could've motivated making up the cover-up story better.

Sun working with Widmore doesn't make a lot of sense. I mean, if she's gonna blame anyone for Jin's death, it should be him. She's probably fooling him.

I wish we'd have more of Richard, but I guess the future seasons will take care of that.

What happened to Desmond and Frank? How will they go on after this, with the lie and everything?

10 all the way!! I absolutely loved it! From the beginning to end, and what an ending! As soon as Ben and Jack started talking I knew who was in that coffin, I just knew it! Now it sounds strange for me to be happy since I love Locke so much. I would be devastated if it were in real time, but Locke's not dying for a while! Even when he does die, I have a hunch that he'll end up back on the island and become the next Jacob!!

I gave it a 9, I thought it was a great episode, definately one of the best I've seen.

I guess, for me, the only reason I gave it a 9 is that I felt that it lacked a little emotion. Specifically when Penny and Desmond re-united, I felt that the phone scene in "The Constant" had so much more emotion than when they finally met after 3 years. It was kind of like, oh well..... Maybe it turned out that way because it was sort of unexpected that Desmond was going to remain with the other survivors of Oceanic.

But that's about it, still a phenomenal episode and can't wait til Season 5.

It was a great episode and a great finale. I always found the finale's a bit dull, not tonight. This was by no means the best episode but hell it took us on a great journey. I did know Locke was int he coffin, it was the one thing that I got spoiled by. Charlotte = Annie? She's an island inhabitant so maybe slower growth? I dont know... I agree it wasnt mindblowing but it caused me to get emotional, go WTF and still managed keeping me hating Jack right to the last moment. Im waiting for the battle... Widmore vs Ben, Sayid vs Sun, who will win?

T, I really loved that for Sawyer, too, and that is suuuch a great idea that Sawyer will say that line to Hurley in the future. I bet you're right.

That said, I still don't feel that Jin or Locke are really dead -- or dead for good.

Locke-- who knows? But Jin? See, here's the thing: if he jumped or was propelled away from the explosin enough, maybe he didn't die from the explosion, but how would he survive in the water? There is no boat, no island, nothing to get to. If he floats on debris... where does he float to?? There is nothing out there. :frown:

It's been implied ever since TTLG that the reasons they were lying were much more sinister, so, I was expecting something along those lines.
Agree. Dissapointed that Abaddon was not involved from the beginning and that Jack was the one that made them lie. I thought that rang a little false.

And I'm all confused about Claire's message. Last we saw her she was with Papa Shephard and agreeing to his wishes. Now Papa Shephard is haunting Jack to go back to the island, but Claire is telling Kate not to bring Aaron? How are we to interpret that?
We saw Christian telling Jack that message some time prior to Claire telling Kate that. Something "terrible" may have happened in between the two messages to cause Claire to say that to Kate.

Right now I feel this story has been just one delay after another.

I see what you are saying, CL, but for me, I don't consider those other stories peripheral or filler or delaying. Maybe parts of S2 and S3 were delaying slightly, but now that they have their finite end-date for the series, I think they are doing exactly what they want to do (except for the writer's strike clearly interrupting the real flow of the Michael return story and the freighties' introductions).

I enjoy all of the character information and side stories, and even if they don't directly tie in with the "raison d'etre" of the show, I'm okay with it, because when people go through experiences like what these characters go through, things happen! Love, sex, betrayel, bonding, etc. and I want to see all that. That's me, though.

I gave it an 8. I enjoyed the eppy, but it wasn't my favorite LOST eppy of all time. My favorite part, for some reason, was seeing Walt. I hope that we see him more next year. Filming a lot in LA next year should help that cause...

I'm sorry, whaaaa? Filming in LA? Can you send me more informatin? Thanks.

Is it just me or is the CGI really bad on this show?I mean, when the freighter blew up and the helicopter crashed it looked like crap. Only CGI that bothered me was London bridge.

I also feel that they could've motivated making up the cover-up story better. Totally agree.

Sun working with Widmore doesn't make a lot of sense. I mean, if she's gonna blame anyone for Jin's death, it should be him. She's probably fooling him. I sure hope she's fooling him.

What happened to Desmond and Frank? How will they go on after this, with the lie and everything?
My guess is that they try to find the island again. Desmond is with Penny and they have the big boat and infinite resources at their disposal because of her. But that's just a guess.

Only CGI that bothered me was London bridge.

But that was not CGI'ed. YK, and ME actually flew to England to shoot their scenes with Alan Dale (Widmore) because he is working on a play in London and could not fly to HI for Lost.

In the spoiler's section we've known for a while that Bender, YK and ME went to England. We knew before the scene of Ben and Widmore in the latter's apartment!

If it were just another episode, I might give it a 4 or so, but since it was a season finale, I give it a 2. First part was better than the second, pacing was good, etc. but these points were offset by many bad points, like:
· Keamy playing dead (haven’t seen that before). If you’re engaged in a big fight- stabbed with a big knife, mind you, after chasing some people through the jungle, and then you get shot but your armor protects you, you can just lay there and people can’t even tell your breathing? Uh, huh.
· Aaron doesn’t need anything to eat for at least 36 hours and isn’t even cranky! Wow, when my baby was that age, the house shook from her hunger cries, after only 2 - 3 hours!
· Helicopter crash.
· Bomb on the boat, etc.

All of this would have basically made it somewhere in the middle for me, 4 or 5, but it doesn’t really matter, because… they had Ben move the Island with a big frozen wheel. I thought I’d never see something more asinine than Ben sending Smokey after the mercenaries, but… we have a new winner!

Trash. An appropriate end to a terrible season.

I rated it a 4. To be honest, I was less than impressed with the writing and the episode in general. However, I think that some of the actors delivered their most stirring performances in quite a while.

The brief reunion between Jack and Locke was too stilted and dry. After all that had transpired between them, and just on the island in general over the last several episodes, it felt like we were watching nothing more than another season two "hatch episode" where Jack and John were bitching at each other over the armory combination or some such. It was depressingly two-dimensional dialogue. I felt myself aching to see the writers recapture the moment between these two men after John saved Jack's life during "The White Rabbit" from season one (go back and watch that episode again; you'll see what I mean). I was disappointed.

On the other hand, I was very impressed with the perfomance delivered by Yunjin Kim, both in the scene on the helicopter when the freighter exploded, and also during her FF with Charles Widmore. Sun's grief on the helo was gut-wrenching, and captured the emotional temperature of the audience brilliantly. I felt her anguish. In contrast, her cold, detached manner in dealing with Widmore perfectly demonstrated what range this actress has. Yunjin Kim did a marvelous job.

I also felt that Michael Emerson delivered another sterling performance as Ben. Cold, calculating, and utterly ruthless in the way he murdered Keamy. Very much like the way he murdered his own father during "The Man Behind the Curtain" in season three... without any remorse at all. Very good stuff. Also, although some people thought it was somehow silly, Ben's struggle with the wheel... turning the wheel, moving the island, the painful closing of his eyes as he realizes this is a one-way trip... was wonderful. Kudos to Emerson.

Other aspects of the episode were complete disappointments. Sure, the writers managed to create new questions for us to ponder over the next several months until Season Five arrives, but they are very trivial matters. Was Charlotte born on the island? Who cares! Who the hell is Charlotte, and why does it matter? Also, the reunion between Penny and Desmond felt very weak. I was not emotional stirred at all, the way I have been in past when the disconnection between these two characters felt so important. It almost seemed as though the writers were just looking for a convenient way to wrap up the storyline; they paid it lip service, and the actors really phoned in their performances.

On to the big schebang: Locke in the coffin. Hmmm, let's see. Ben explains to Locke that "the person who moves the island can never come back." So... sometime after the Oceanic Six leave the island, "bad things" happen, Locke ultimately decides that he will turn the wheel as Ben did, and return to the "real world" under an assumed identity to warn Jack and the others that they need to go back. The knowledge that he can never return leads him to suicide? Seems pretty cut and dry to me. I was bored. I was not shocked. I actually sneered at my television. It was as if the writers were more concerned with pandering to the audience by revealing who was in the coffin, than actually taking the time to develop a solid storyline to make the revelation important. Lame.

In closing, I would just like to say that this show used to suck me in. I was obsessed by the implications of what might be going on... the themes of man vs. nature, man vs. man, man vs. the unknown seemed to have implications of much grander scope. I sincerely believed that Good and Evil, God and the Devil, Salvation and Damnation were often hinted at... and that the storyline would develop these concepts further. I am not a religious person, but these ideas were absolutely captivating to me. But this entire season seems to have ruined those themes, and done nothing more than lead us into a labyrinthine web of intrigues, cover-ups, and other mundane schemes... just like Alias. My disappointment really culminated in this season's finale. I am no longer "sucked in." I watch each new episode hoping that it will rekindle the spark of fear, excitement, and mystery that the island once held for me. And I feel let down once again.

I will return for Seasons Five and Six, mostly out of a sense of obligation. I've spent several years now with this show, and I will see it through to the end. But I pray that the writers and producers will reward that loyalty by returning to the themes that made this show so wonderful to begin with. Based on the Season Four finale, though, I don't have very high hopes. :(

10 without even thinking about it. I loved it. Sun did a marvelous job in her scenes esepcially when Jin died. You felt that emotion jeez. Im looking forward to the rest of the show maybe its because i came in at season 3 and am used to the "new direction: of lost but i loved it. Only complaint is jacks mustache at the end he looks like one of those mexican guys in old TV movies... and some left off points like the dan and charlotte where r they? but all and all GREAT EPISODE GREAT SEASON GREAT SHOW keep up the work PLEASE NO MORE STRIKES. till Jan.

I thought all in all it was a good episode. I had heard it wasn't going to be the same as last season's finale in intensity but it had some really great moments. I like when they leave everything up in the air. We don't know if anyone from the freighter survived (Jin), or the raft (Daniel), or what happens to all our Losties still on the beach (Sawyer).

And I know some people didn't like the simplicity of the "Frozen Donkey Wheel" but if you take away the hokey title and think aout what they've done - WHOA!

The action moments were great - Sayid and Keamy's fight, the freighter exploding, Sawyer jumping from the helicopter the copter crashing - really great action!

And our dramatic moments were very satisfying too - I hate that Sawyer and Kate separated but the moment was quite beautiful. And Des and Penny finding each other was another great moment.

Really it was all there - gotta hand it to TPTB - tey did an excellent job with this one!

One great moment stuck out to the most... I've never been a big fan of Michael Emerson's character but him turning that wheel at the end was incredible! The whole Island disappearing was just WOW!

Super episode! We got a little (or a lot) of everything. Action, romance, death, mythology, questions, answers and once heck of a set-up for next season. Us female fans even got shirtless Sawyer.

This was one of my favorite episodes in the series yet.

Best part- Hugo playing chess with Mr Eko.
Seriously best part *whisper whisper whisper* 'Michael, you can go now'....BOOM

LOL -- not to mention this is exactly what happened last season finale -- Mikhail being shot dead by Desmond, only to come back to life with the grenade later :) I half expected a repeat of last season again, with Michael locking Jin and Des out of the bomb room to save them, then writing "Tell Walt I love him" on his hand and pressing it against the window!

It seems the votes are all over the place -- that's very interesting. I got caught up in it enough, and felt like I was on a rollercoaster during most of the action sequences, that I really enjoyed it -- I guess that's as much as I can ask out of an ep! It wasn't as tight as TTLG, but everything in it was a little bigger -- and when you think of how monumental the events are (Locke dead in the future, island disappeared and the inhabitants who knows where, Des and Penny off the island with the O6) this is quite new, uncharted territory we're entering, not unlike last year's finale. Just my 2 cents ;)

I agree on this, but i give it a 10+ anyway. between the recent clues and the abc ads that give away too much, it panned out almost just like myself and many others said it would on many fronts.

Freighter blew up..check

Keamy killed...check (but by Ben, not guessed, but it figures)

"Frozen Donkey Wheel"..they actually had a real one! That was almost a slap in the face!
Sawyer sac's himself to save Kate...check

Island "disappears" while the O6 watch...check

No real explanation of where/how it went leaving plenty to chew on...check

Penny shows up just in time to save the O6...check.

The O6 walk onto the beach in Sumba, just as said before...check

Biggest surprise to me was the KISS solution of how the O6 get to Sumba..so many said...teleport....dupicate Losties...blah, blah...

Penny took them there!!! So Simple. logical. I loved it!!

Others say they knew it would be Locke in the coffin...I never ever read anyone say that!
It was always Benry, Micheal, or Hurley..a big curve-ball to me! ;)

Sawyer jumping scared the crap out of me, one of the first things I thought was "Crap. My sig on the fuselage says Sawyer Lives. Crap Crap Crap."

Island moving was cool.
Keamy not dying from the bullet wounds was pretty obvious.
& Sayid shooting people always works for me.

I think this was a really good season finale, and very different from previous finales, which makes it even better. Every finale has been different, and I think that's pretty cool. This is going to take a second and third viewing, but after one viewing, I gave it a solid 8.5.

I loved the final moments between Locke and Jack. These two guys are the crux of the Lost story, and so whenever they get to interact, I'm glued to the set. It's always interesting to me how Jack goes back and forth between saying "Locke" and "John." When he's really pissed, he says "Locke," but when he lets down his guard or his anger, he uses "John." Locke, on the other hand, always calls Jack "Jack." It's just a dynamic to their relationship that I find interesting. This final meeting between Jack and Locke was pivotal. It sets up the entire purpose of the episode. Locke has two instructions to Jack 1) Don't leave; you have a purpose; and 2) If you are determined to leave, make sure you lie. Jack is pretty stunned at Locke's genuine pleading to have him stay. He still can't figure Locke out, although I think he really wants to understand. When Jack is clearly determined to leave, Locke gives him TWO separate requests that he must lie about what they have been through on the island. Jack doesn't plan on lying or feel the need to do so until later. Locke also talks to Jack about miracles, which Jack admits to not believing in miracles but it's also mentioned later in the episode to tie us back to this moment between the Man of Science and the Man of Faith. More about that later. I as pissed at Locke for once again telling Jack nothing. He had a perfect opportunity to tie his belief in miracles and Jack's "There's no such thing" comment with the news of Locke's miraculous healing. Instead Locke says nothing, but he then turns around and tells Ben he tried to explain to Jack. Um, no you didn't John.

On the Freighter, Jin, Desmond, and Michael are desperate to try and figure out how to disarm the C-4 bomb, which makes all of them heroic. However, they all get the vote for the Dumb Award for the evening. If you KNOW you have a pile of C-4 that can take out an aircraft carrier, and you know you only have 1/4 of a tank of liquid nitrogen, why aren't you warning people on the freighter to get their lifejackets on and prepare to abandon ship? Instead, all three men wait until the FINAL last ticking clock moments to alert the rest of the Losties on the freighter, and there is no way everyone can get off in time. Add in the fact that the chopper is trying to land, and THEY have no idea that a bomb is about to go off, and you have a perfect man made disaster. I did like the Jin and Michael moments. I'm kind of mad that Michael is gone because it would have been nice to have him around for a while longer.

Sawyer's act of heroism was nice. He wanted to save his friends, and he did, but I don't think Sawyer was going to his death either. Sawyer knew that the chopper was going to get to the freighter, refuel, and come back for him. I say this because Sawyer had a big smile on his face when he emerged from the surf, and when he saw Juliet, he asked her flat out if she was celebrating. Why would he ask her that if he wasn't planning on being rescued? His expression changed to horror when he saw the freighter in smoke, and suspected that all on board, including Kate, was lost. Also, as I suspected, the spectacular kiss never emerged at all. There were two nice kisses in last night's episode, but nothing extraordinary. Des and Penny's was better simply because they were waiting to reunite for so long. Never believe the hype, that's my motto.

Kate is starting to be haunted by Claire, but I don't know if Claire is a good entity or a bad one simply because she's telling Kate not to take Aaron back. That should be interesting to see how they all get back to the island. Kate's been way too happy off island while everyone else has been miserable, so it's about time to see her start to get her share of hauntings.

I loved watching Sayid fight Keamy. No doubt as to who the main fighter on the island is, and I loved how Sayid was sure to protect Hurley by removing him from the Sanitarium. My question is why did Sayid suspect Hurley was in danger and/or how did he know the guy was sitting outside the sanitarium for a week unless Sayid was watching Hurley. Why ARE they watching Hurley?

I'm not sure how I feel about Sun right now. She's blaming everyone for all the bad things in her life, but she's just as much to blame for the choices she made, and Jin chose to stay on the freighter until the last possible minute. I have a feeling she'll be the new mob princess, and I'm not sure how I feel about that right now.

Ben is completely and wholeheartedly to blame for the deaths of the people on the freighter, and he admitted it. It was nice to see Locke trying to desperately to save Keamy's life in order to save the people on the Freighter. Ben's reaction to letting the Freighter explode: "So." He's not a good guy, I'm sorry, but he's not. I do love the character.

One key scene was when the '06 are all in the raft after the island disappears and Hurley mentions that Aaron not having a scratch is a miracle. Jack clearly reacts to that comment. Then Hurley mentions that Locke did it. He moved the island, and Jack again refuses to believe, but Hurley presses Jack to come up with a better explanation. Between that comment and the time that Penny's boat finds them, Jack must have been mulling over Locke's words and what he just witnessed because when Jack realizes that they are seconds away from rescue, he tells the '06 they have to lie. I was actually happy to see that it was Jack and the '06 who make this decision. It tells me that they are not being controlled by Ben or Widmore into forcing them into silence. They choose to take action themselves. Jack's argument is a valid one. What kind of person can put a plane into the ocean with dead bodies in it to make up a cover story? Who has that kind of power and wealth and how can they fight it? I'm guessing that's why people are following them. They know the '06 are lying, and they know that they are the key to getting back. That's my guess, anyway.

The other scene, of course, is Jack in the funeral home. Finding out that Locke is the person in the coffin was a shocker, but it didn't upset me. I'm not expecting any of the cast to really survive until the end, so if they show Locke dead now, they still have to show how it happened. He's not coming back from the dead, but he can live on on the island in spirit. That's what I think is going to happen.

Ben's words to Jack that they all have to go back in order to get back is going to spur Jack to locate them, along with Ben, and get them all to go. I'm guessing some will be fighting him. The question for me is why does Jack have to go back? Why did he need to stay as Locke advised? What happened when Jack left?

I thought the episode was emotional and satisfying. I will watch it again because I'm sure I missed a ton of stuff.

I'm torn. The mythology stuff was awesome. The character stuff...not so much. I didn't buy the whole set up for Jin being left behind. No way would they not have gone down there sooner and dragged Jin out. I so expected Michael to offer to stay behind and sacrifice himself for Jin, but not at the last freakin second so Jin didn't have time to get to the chopper. And Jack didn't work for me in those scenes either. I believe he would have chosen to save Kate over saving Jin, but the action didn't make that choice clear, and it almost looked like he was all, "Oh well, Jin, you snooze, you lose. Come on Kate!" It didn't feel right. Hurley and Sayid didn't seem panicked or proactive enough either. Sun was the only one who appeared to give a crap about Jin. Not sure if it was a problem with the writing or directing or what, but that sequence bugged.

I freaking LOVED it.

I think I've finally come to terms that Lost isn't going to be the show it was in season one ever again. It's never going to look like a movie every week, the dialogue will never be as consistently good, the story will never hold up like it did, the life and death stakes will never be so real. But in can be entertaining. It's true that I had to lower my expectations to start really enjoying Lost again, but I am enjoying it again.

There was some dumb stuff tonight - the incredibly cliché'd trying-to-defuse-the-bomb scene for one - but there was also some brilliant stuff.

Yunjin Kim's performace was the standout to me. Her reaction to seeing the boat blow up was probably, for me, the most powerful moment of acting on this show for a good long while.

I have to run, but I'll come back and edit this post with more of my thoughts later.

I gave it an 8, by the way. If Lost was always as good as this episode and 'the Shape of Things to Come' I'd be very satisfied.

I'd give it a 9.5, but I have no qualms about rounding it up to 10.

I really enjoyed the finale, Parts 2 and 3, for the same reason I enjoyed Part 1 - there were lots and lots of wonderful little character interactions. From Sawyer and Jack looking for Hurley ("So what's the plan, Sundance?") to Kate helping Sayid up off the ground after helping to take down Keamy & Co. and Sayid later putting a comforting arm around Kate as they finally set foot on their destination island, to Hurley and Walt, to Hurley and Sawyer ("Thanks for coming back to get me."), to Charlotte and Daniel saying goodbye, to every minute of Locke and Ben, to Sayid finally rescuing (I hope!) Hurley from that depressing sanitarium, to Jack and Desmond (JACK saying, "See you in another life, brotha.") to Kate backing her car up over Jack four or five times in the FF. Oh wait... that only happened in my fantasies.

That's just an abbreviated list because the episode was densely rich in enjoyable little interactions. The bigger moments were excellent too. Sawyer jumping from the chopper was heroic and beautifully shot. I think he did it as much so Hurley wouldn't have to consider it (or feel guilty) as for Kate's sake. He loves them both. I also loved the kiss and the whispered message to Kate, which I heard as "I have a daughter in Albequerque named Clementine Phillips. Tell her I'm sorry." I'm sure he was hoping he'd be able to swim back to the island... if he didn't break something in the fall or get eaten by sharks along the way, but that takes nothing away from the quality of his sacrifice because, like everyone else, he'd "seen enough of this rock" and was smiling at the hope of getting off the island. (And Jack is an even bigger jerk that I thought for all that "He chose to stay. I'm the one that saved you. I'm the one that's here." crap he was throwing at Kate back in SNBH.)

I loved Desmond, Jin and Michael trying to disarm the bomb or buy time, and really felt for Jin not wanting to abandon his friend Michael. Watching Jin miss his ride by seconds, only to die a horrible flaming death while his wife watched helplessly was one of the saddest things I've seen on the show. I love Jin (and DDK is a long-time fave) and we had other miracles in this episode so I'm hoping against hope for one more to save him. We just can't lose two raft buddies in one episode - that would be too cruel.

I loved Juliet's response to Daniel urging her to come with. She promised to help all these people get off the island and she's not leaving till she's fulfilled her promise. Juliet seemed to embody the qualities of a true leader in that scene, just as Sawyer seemed to embody the qualities of a true selfless hero when he leapt from the helicopter. That shot at the end of Sawyer and Juliet on the beach was poignant as they have no way of knowing if the people they tried to help, and the ones they cared about the most, are alive or dead.

It struck me that for all Jack's efforts and struggles, we saw a quality of the heart in Juliet, Sawyer, Jin, and even Michael, that Jack just doesn't seem to have. He desperately wants to be that person who acts from the heart, he even lies to himself that he is that person, but he isn't. I think most of the time he's driven by duty, and a sense of what he "should" do. His statement when they finally crawled into the raft to the effect that "It's Ok. It's Ok. We're alive." was so out of place, and was met with such a look from Sun and Kate. Locke was so right when he said Jack is good at lying to himself. Nevertheless, his moment of epiphany was well done. When suddenly facing rescue, he finally made that leap of faith and acknowledged that even though he didn't understand it, he had seen a miracle right before his eyes with the disappearance of the island.

I loved FF Sun, who I hope is about to pull a con on Widmore. I also loved the Desmond/Penny reunion, though I fear Desmond jinxed himself the minute he promised her he'd never leave her again. Hope he enjoys the interlude with her before fate takes him away again.

The FDW was cheesy, but it was well shot and Michael Emerson can sell anything, so I felt for him as he struggled to move that wheel that would banish him from paradise. I'm dying to know where the island has been moved to... and when? I'm choosing to believe now that on some previous move, the island resurfaced right under a ship named the Black Rock, and the image of the expressions on those sailors' faces is very amusing.

The reference to the "very bad things" that had happened on the island since Jack left was chilling. And Ben trying to rally Jack to get the band back together reminded me of a scene from one of my favorite movies, "Still Crazy"... even with the appropriate dead band mate casting a shadow on their chances of making a come back. Hee. (Bill Nighy rules!)

I found this season's finale thoroughly entertaining and satisfying in and of itself, and it left me in a place where I'm jonesing for the next episode, but not quite gnawing on my knuckles over the wait. I'd call it perfect, but there was that missing scene where Kate backs her car up over Jack four or five times. ;)

I love ridiculous tv shows! Gave it a 10. The wheel of fortune was the best!!! :D

The finale rejuvenated S4 for me, and my only purchases from iTunes all season. Can't wait for S5!!

Loved how we got our core Losties back and with newly developed characteristics. LOVE the new Clare, who has lost her simpleness and quaintness. Yunjin's performance was so heartwretching my eyes welled up. Hope she's a cold-hearted bad a** in S5. Love that Kate got her macha back by running back to get Jin, diving off the raft to help pull Desmond, yanking the action on that 9mm... Sawyer's dive, once again, brought him up a rung on my favs list.

Interesting when Ben tells Jack he cant go back alone and has to bring the others, "..including HIM..." with a nod at Locke. Do they have to bring the coffin on the plane with them? Harks back to a similar scene of Jack bringing Christian "back to the island" via casket. Was the Flight 815 crash a group assembled to "go back" to the island as well...

Bring it on.

I gave it a 9. Pretty much everyone else has talked about all the good moments. I thought the wheel turning was a bit 'eh'...but I like crazy fantasy/sci fi so it's all good. ;)

The only reason I didn't give the episode a 10 is because we don't know what happened to Daniel. The island disappeared and the freighter blew up...so is he just gonna starve to death the middle of the ocean? He can't! He's by far my favorite character on the show...so if the writers just forget him...well I'm done watching the show with the same fervor I do right now. I'm hoping he does some crazy mental math/physics and figures out where the island is now. Heh.

The Desmond/Penny reunion was pretty much the only happy scene in that episode. Desmond's my second favorite character so I'm glad he's happy...for the moment. I can't help but think that when Desmond said "I"ll never leave you again" he jinxed himself. I hope they at least have a couple months together before all of hell breaks loose.

Jack's character has taken an interesting turn. Jack used to be my favorite character but now he's around 4th or 5th. I don't think that he's making bad decisions on purpose. He tries to do whatever he can for his people. But now he's just being eaten alive by his guilt. I think a better person would try and figure out a way to counter act whatever was happening, not get stoned everyday. Jack needs to clean up and get back to the island.

For me the most powerful moment in the episode was Jin's 'death' (I'm still holding out hope that Daniel will take the boat over there, pick up Jin, and go back to the island :D). The way Sun screamed, I was crying all over the place. That scene was just so emotion and Yunjin Kim did is so beautifully. That scene made me hate Jack though, he was just "He's gone." So blunt. Her husband just died! Just a couple feet away from her and all you can say is, "He's gone"?!

Sawyer and Juliet's scene was amazing. They really are amazing characters. Juliet, who in my opinion deserves to be off the island more than anyone (except for Desmond), stayed behind in order to make sure that everyone else got off first. And Sawyer, jumped out of the helicopter? Another scene that made me cry.

Really, even though I loved all the new questions and plot ideas introduced by this episode, it was the growth of all the characters that I enjoyed the most.

Loved it. I loved the tense action, the coffin reveal (say what??), the heartbreaking screams from Sun, Sawyer's heroic leap and the fabulous Sawyer/Kate kiss, creepy Claire, and everything Ben. The wheel might have been a bit much, but Michael Emerson played that scene so perfectly that I couldn't help but love it, too. Both Emerson and Matthew Fox were wonderful in the last scene. My only complaint is that now I have to wait too many months for the show to return.

I gave it a low rating..... :frown:.
Oh ...I am so glad someone mentioned Alias......I LOVED Alias the actors and the writing was so good, but I HATED the series finale. It was a ripoff. I have all the Alias DVDs but I will not watch the finale. I started watching LOST because JJ was one of the creators. I believe the writing was good until the end of S3 .....Season 4 is just fluff....did not add to the substance of the story.
I posted in the "did not like it thread so I wont rehash everything here.
But I hope this does not disappoint like Alias..... Damon and Carlton please take note. In my opinion the ratings just indicate that most of the viewers like the fluff, the soap opera (I do too to an extent) but the serious meat and potatoes core of the show are left hungry. Please up the ante.
I know you guys are capable.and some of the most creative writers on the earth right now. So live up to your protential please.:frown:

My feelings regarding the frozen donkey wheel - which I see a lot of people really hated - is that it was something out of a Guillermo del Toro movie, like Pan's Labyrinth.

Now, I'm not a fantasy buff by any means, but a few of my favourite movies are fantasy (Pan's Labyrinth, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, for example) because they allow the storyteller - through those simple devices like "the ring" or the "frozen donkey wheel" - to put a character through an emotional journey that would otherwise prove enormously complex to pull off. There are other ways Ben could have moved the island, but I can't think of anything that would have worked better. There are any number of devices that would have worked just as well as the wheel, but it's not the device that's important. It's what Ben is going through pushing that wheel that matters. We got to see the heartbreak on Ben's face as he strained to get that damned wheel moving so he could do exactly what he never wanted to do: leave the island forever.

I would much prefer some outlandish but kinda cool fantasy device like that than "oh yeah, it's time travel cause of... er... radiation or something" or a bunch of gravelly voiced white haired guys in suits in a moodily lit conference room.

It just comes down to personal taste. It definitely was more fantasy than sci-fi.

I voted a 10! I loved the finale! Had to watch it again and again!! LOL So much drama.. so much action.. so many changes from this Season.. I'm glad it ended the way I hoped it would end.. except for seeing Locke in the coffin.. :( but I have a feeling he's not dead...

I have to agree with the above poster, it was more of a fantasy than a Sci-Fi.. I was trying to figure that out too with this show.. lol there's no way an island can just move itself with a wheel.. and disappear.. I thought that scene was just so amazing! LOL ..and shocking!! Lost is full of surprises. :)

Was definitely the best episode ever for me!!! It could have been because i was really hungover and kinda fragile anyway but I lost count of the amount of times I cried and gasped!! Sawyer melted my heart with his selfless act of bravery, Jin's unbearable pain at seeing her husband die before her eyes and Desmond and Penny finally re-united were my fave moments......

North American term for SANATORIUM, not SANITORIUM (according to the page you linked there).

But thanks, anyway. So, in English they are synonyms. In Spanish, which is based more in Latin than English, SANITARIO is a bathroom.

But, that makes me feel better. It's not as bad as the Anomoly one, then (which wasn't even a word).

Very well done.

One (okay, there are more but this one is still pressing me almost a week later) complaint though:

The whole shanking of Keamy by Ben.

I'm not faint at heart (The Brave One was perfectly violent) but some things are better if left to the imagination. Especially on prime time network tv.

Thanks

But that was not CGI'ed. YK, and ME actually flew to England to shoot their scenes with Alan Dale (Widmore) because he is working on a play in London and could not fly to HI for Lost.

In the spoiler's section we've known for a while that Bender, YK and ME went to England. We knew before the scene of Ben and Widmore in the latter's apartment!

D'oh! I feel silly now.

I did know that they had to fly to London, but I forgot when I watched this episode. ha.

10 out of 10, what a wonderful finale to an amazing season of Lost. There was so much to like, my favourite moments were

Jack and Locke meet for the first time since the beginning of the season "I'd like you to stay Jack"

Walt goes to visit Hurley. I hope we see more of Walt in the next season, if all the six and Locke have to go back, surely Walt would have to go with them

Sun's proposition to Widmore, I hope she is playing him. As some of you have already mentioned, Yunjin's performance was superb

Desmond and Penny reunited! Although I don't think it'll be for good. Loved when Jack said "I'll see ya in another life brother" To me that means they'll meet again.

Sawyer jumping from the helicopter, I love how his character has developed this season and I'm looking forward to seeing what will happen now he is left on the island with Juliet, the freighties and the others. And hopefully Rose and Bernard, they weren't on the freighter were they? That's the only thing I wasn't sure about.

Locke as the new leader of the others, I couldn't think of a better man for the job!

I hope Jin's alive, it was heartbreaking to see him left behind

"Checkmate Mr Eko"

Sayid kicking Keamy's butt then Ben killing him

Locke in the coffin! This time last year I thought it was Michael and throughout this episode I was sure it was Ben. I'm so glad I wasn't spoiled. I think if bad things happened on the island after the six left maybe Locke had to move it again.

I'm sure theres more I need to watch it again soon

The one thing I didn't like was Michael's death. I was sure he would live because he hasn't been back long and I wanted to see him reunited with Walt. It just seemed like a bit of a waste to bring him back for such a short time and I've always liked his character.

It was unfortunately very unmemorable. The whole Penny Des reunion seemed rushed. Keamy's demise was so anticlimatic. And what happened to the people on the raft who left the island en route to the freighter but then it disappeared? They couldn't go back to something that wasn't there. Why weren't they picked up by Penny's boat as well? And the notion of Ben just sitting in the mortuary after hours waiting for Jack to show up made no sense. I could go one but I was hpoing for something a little juicier.

A 6 from me. I've listed my main concerns in "Didn't like it" thread so I won't repeat them here but the episode left me questionless about next seasons and put some of my previous questions to the garbage (no, they are not answered or debunked, they just seem meaningless now)

7 I miss Jin already. Much of the action sequence was typical American TV ( always za exploding Corvette...always ze happy ending.) I like Lost for other reasons. I thought Sawyer's part could have been a little meatier. Hurley was great. Sayid is a fairly dangerous man. Ben is an enigmatic pyscho. Kate is just well Kate. Nice to see Claire and the nod to Eko. the head scratcher Jeremy Benthem=John Locke at the end is unbelieveabley frustrating. All in all it left me agitated.

I gave it a 7 because I liked it, especially how they wrapped the Desmond/Penny plot. But I think last year's cliffhanger was better.

I always suspected that either Ben or Locke was in the casket. So that didn't surprise me.

Overall I wasn't left agape or really all that curious about what's going to happen next. Of course I have questions but haven't we all come to expect that from LOST?

I just watched the episode on Friday.

I loved it!! No elements of surprise for me though, since I read through all the comments about the episode before actually watching it. (Well, I wasn't patient enough to wait until it finishes dowloading!)

Anyways, it didn't disappoint. (Although lostfan08 was right- except for some major and minor details).

I was pleasantly surprised by the character Sun. Superb acting by Yunjin Kim!! She really made that entire helicopter scene seem so real. I really felt for her, her agony and pain when the freighter burst into flames right before her very own eyes.
And her scene with Widmore too....that I didn't see coming....fantastic!

Sawyer is another character that has really evolved a lot since season 1. He changed from the selfish conman who had no reason to live in season 1 to the caring, unselfish person who is willing to sacrifice himself for others.

Jack- well he is just spiralling downhill...

I'm so glad Keamy is gone! Can't stand that guy :P

The moment when Ben turned the frozen wheel and caused the entire island to move....that was intriguing....the scene was almost comical.....one moment you see the island, the next moment it's gone!

And last but not least.....I'm so glad that Desmond and Penny are reunited! I really love them as a couple and hope that they would be happy together forever.

Anyways....this has been an amazing season....I can't wait for season 5 to start! (8 more months to go- oh dear).

My rating: 9.5

This finale is better than season 1's IMO, and on par with last season's finale.

I loved this season too, and what a great finale to go out on. The story felt a bit rushed, which was great for the exciting pace, but it didn't give the Des/Pen reunion or the Michael demise enough time to process. I guess that's what the next 6 months are for :). I don't know how they could have made this any better, unless they had half hour more to tell the story. So I gave it 10.

I loved it! I rated it 9, because, well, its very hard 2 give out a 10, because that means there could be NO improvments, but i thought the episode was a really good ending to the season. Sad though how they Dogged Jin and KABOOM!
