View Full Version : More Evil: Ben or Keamy?

Keamy, as a hired mercenary, killed several people ruthlessly, including Ben's daughter, Alex, right in front of Ben.

Ben killed Keamy, even after knowing that the device on Keamy's arm was a dead man's trigger attached to Keamy's heart monitor, and that if his heart stopped beating, the freighter and everyone on it would be blown up. Ben in the FF's has Sayid working for him as an assassin.

Who's more evil?

I voted for Ben... because I feel like Ben does awful things even though he really knows they're wrong. I just don't know Keamy well enough to try and see what his psychology is. Ben makes me ill because I feel like he has had moments of humanity but he STILL does this stuff. It's very disappointing.

Dang, that's like choosing between Hitler or Stalin. I had to chose Ben, because he knows what's right and what's wrong, and still chooses to do wrong. Plus he's narcissistic, always looking out for himself. He was a father, seemingly, to Alex, and he still did what he did. Hard choice, but in the end Ben is a slim winner.

I said Ben because we don't know enough about what was driving Keamy to be so horrid.

Ben has somethign else motivating him besides what we normally see. he also did kinda just lose it witht he man who killed his daughter. i think the "so" was more him trying to justify to himself "oh fuck" rather than denying it was a big deal.
in the past whenever he's hurt someone its been for another reason. this time was just revenge. yes revenge is evil, but its something even the strongest men are susceptable to. ben is far from the strongest man, and he has loads of pressure on him that most men will never have to face at all. can't really say u'd do much better until you're in the position.

keamy on the other hand, is just as far as we know now, hired for money. and has no problem killing people for money. to me, that's more evil. a hired gun is exchanging blood for gold. even if you kill people in idiocy and ignorantly because you believe it's right, at least you're doing what you believe to be right. you cant say that about someone who kills for money.

Keamy was upfront to a point, ben is like a yo yo.. his cold manner, his ability to recover. Ben hands down in the most evil..

I'd say that they are both about equal. They are both self-serving to the extreme.

Neither.

They are both heartless.

Ben is WAY more evil than Keamy. Keamy is straight forward and honest, "If you don't come out of the house, I will kill your daughter." Horrible but at least he doesn't manipulate people, make them think one thing and then use them as a pawn. Think of the last thing Alex heard before she died. Her father saying that he didn't love her. Now that is EVIL!

Ben would never do what Keamy did to Alex. I'm not sure if thats because it wouldn't help his cause or he has more of a heart not to do it but I choose to believe the latter. There has been a large amount of sympathy for Ben this season and that is diminished if we believe he is a complete monster.

I suppose that one thing that bothers me the most is Ben didnt attempt to kill Keany when he had the chance. he didnt make sure of his death when richard shot him.
but when he was in the orchid he did. maybe i am seeing something, but personally I am afraid of Ben.

I must admit that Ben is the best Villian - if he is one- to come to tv. his motives and techniques are just not what we are used to in a villian on tv. last least for me

i found Keamys character out of place and sometimes downright pathetic.

I'm not saying anything but it's either unbelievable to read what ll of you are saying, or it makes perfect sense, but not because of what you think.

such opposites of men. yet they come to the same ground of killing without remorse or thought. (IMO). ben's words before his daughter died, were more hurtful and evill, than her dying. to hear your father say you mean nothing!.
keaney.. totally uncaring that you slice someone's neck. and vital person at that too..

a teater totter of men. each on the end of the board, yet they are connected to point of
killing without remorse. IMO..

I see them like this.
If you were to take them off the island and out in to the real world.

Keamy= serial killer. Picks you, kills you moves on to the next victim. Has many, many victims.

Ben= serial killer/ torturer. Picks you, charms you, takes you home, makes you his prisoner. Where he plays with you like a cat that caught a mouse, until he tires of you. Which could be days, weeks, months or years. Then and only then, does he kill you and move on to his next victim. Has many less victims, but they all suffered more.

I of course vote ofr Ben.....lol

I guess almost all the people who voted for Keamy didn't post on this thread, because the thread and the poll tell two completely opposite stories.

I voted for Keamy, because we haven't seen any remorse, mercy or motivation from him besides money. Ben made a huge mistake with Alex, because Widmore changed the rules, and bawled over her corpse. That doesn't say to me 'no remorse', or 'heartless'. He's a real piece of work, that's for sure, but he has his limits (he eventually accepted Locke as the new leader and apologized genuinely for all the misery he caused him). Keamy didn't seem to have any limits.

i think its still too early to tell...

since they are both ruthless killers, ultimately, for me anyway, we'll have to see which sides MOTIVES are the purest...

if BEN's agenda is for EVIL gain, then KEAMY trying to subdue BEN will be justified...

if BEN's goal is GOOD, then KEAMY is EVIL
