View Full Version : Paik and Widmore
UnderAlienControl 05-29-2008, 11:25 PM I figured Sun bought controlling interest in Paik so she could snoop on daddy's business to get to Widmore whom she blamed for Jin's death. Using "5 banks" made me think the 6 had sided with Ben and used their resources to get this valuable info.
Now it seems that Sun blames Ben for Jin's death and is in effect hooking up with Widmore to go against Ben and try to re-find the island...It also seemeds that Penny snooped or made Daddy give her info too. Daddy issues and rebellious rabbits for sure...:jawa6:
Selene1212 05-30-2008, 12:26 AM Jack told Ben that Sun blames him (Jack) for Jin's death.
My husband thinks Sun is joining with Widmore to either set him up or because she wants to get back to the island to learn the truth about Jin.
GettinLost 05-30-2008, 12:35 AM I hate that it has pitted Sun against the O6. It's so strange to see her so vengeful. But she's doing a really good job at it...
UnderAlienControl 05-30-2008, 09:16 PM :jawa6: Well, she could be working with Ben since they all have to go back together, so she could be running the "long con" on Widmore-there's always that chance...
lilburgz 05-30-2008, 09:32 PM I'm torn between who I think the 2nd person is. Maybe Sun blames Jack on a normal basis, which would be a combination of Sun's silence towards Jack and Jack's internal guilt plaguing him to believe this, but she might be feeling wrathful towards Widmore or Ben.
I think the answer hinges on what was said that week they were on Penny's boat...or if 'Jeremy Bentham' tells Sun who killed Keamie and triggered the explosion. She may be baiting Widmore or she may be truly trying to get to Ben.
UnderAlienControl 06-04-2008, 02:34 AM Yeah, I don't think it's Jack, it's more likely Ben because she said they weren't the only ones who got off the island, and this would imply somebody other than the 06 which would probably either be Ben or Locke, and I'm only saying Locke because apparently he was more than likely murdered...
:jawa6:
eyris 06-04-2008, 02:46 AM I kind of think that by the end of this episode, Ben already has everyone working for him except for Jack and Kate. They're the last two to be approached by him. Sun could also be a double-agent, though.
GLDenverCO 06-04-2008, 02:50 AM Desmond undoubtedly told Sun during the week they were going from the South Pacific to the Indian Ocean that the man responsible for the bombs on the freighter was Charles Widmore. She could not know that ultimately it may have been Ben who caused the explosives to detonate. And it was not Jack's fault the freighter exploded, and only incidentally Jack's fault that Jin was not on the deck earlier.
Jack blames himself, as he always does, for not being able to save everyone. It is easy for us to just look at the situation and assume it must be Jack she blames, but as far as Sun is concerned, the person who put the explosives there is responsible, and that is Charles Widmore.
Oh, and Sun can be ruthless. Remember her flashback to when she was just a kid and broke (not sure what it was), and blamed the housekeeper. Her dad told her the housekeeper would be fired if that was the case and she didn't blink an eye at telling the lie. Don't think Sun is totally an innocent.
I hate that it has pitted Sun against the O6. It's so strange to see her so vengeful. But she's doing a really good job at it...
Sun's threat to Jin's mother when Sun gave her the blackmail money suggested right there that Sun has a very dark and ruthless side to her. In many ways, she's like her father, though she does have a conscience that gets in her way from time to time. I think that that conscience became more dominant when she was on the island, but she's not there anymore...
As far as being against the O6, I think they may have all separated from each other almost as far from each other as they can get. This will make the task of getting them all back together that much more interesting when it starts to happen. Of the five adults that can actually make decisions for themselves:
Hurley has altogether lost his ability to cope and is back in the nuthatch.
Jack has allowed his emotions to take control of himself and has become obsessed with the island. That actually makes him very much like Locke was, but more out-of-control...
Sayid has aligned himself with Ben
Sun appears to be aligning herself with Widmore.
Kate has gone back to running away from things, emotionally this time, and wants no part of any of it. She will stay distant from the others.
The idea of getting this disparate group back together and to the island with a corpse in tow will be very interesting. (And I'm betting that Locke's coffin isn't going to be buried in some lonely graveyard where someone can just dig it up in the moonlight...)
simone5p 06-04-2008, 04:47 PM I'm not sure that Sun does blame Ben for Jin's death...
Perhaps by mentioning the fact that she and the other Losties were not the only ones who got off the island, Sun wanted Widmore to know that she is resourceful too. I think Sun wants Widmore's help and is willing to help him in turn (with his issues with Ben?).
Ben isn't the only one who got off the island...
Desmond...Locke
We know Widmore has the resorces to seek Ben out (follwing the O6 for example/possibly playing Sayid with Elsa's help)...Widmore knows Ben is off the island, but why does Widmore still care about Ben?
Widmore already saw Ben and had a confrontation with him... which wasn't very satisfying considering that Widmore went looking for Ben prepared with a team of mercenaries, and then didn't have much to say to Ben other than "the island was mine and will be again" line. We learned that perhaps neither can kill the other. But we still didn't find out why Widmore wanted to "kidnap" Ben in the first place. Keamy was paid lots of money to bring Ben to Widmore unharmed, right? Ben brought himself to Widmore and what did they talk about? Is that what Widmore wanted to say to Ben...Certainly, he wants to keep tabs on Ben in case Ben might somehow lead him to the island again. But he had found the island purposefully to find Ben, so what did he want Ben for in the first place?
Whatever she's plotting, Sun is looking for the big guns to help her. She took over Paik to smite her father, but also I think to have the power she needs to do battle with whomever else she blames for Jin's death. For all we know, she blames Desmond because he lived and Jin did not. Or Lapidus for not going back. If it were Jack, wouldn't she have had revenge on him by now.. he's just a spinal surgeon with a drug addiction in LA. Not hard to find or to destroy... besides he's doing a good job alone.
