The Island didn't move, It went forward in Time, Like the tape said, when it cut off.

Very nice! I forgot about that tape, with all the other jaw droping things happening in this episode. That is very sneaky of them, next season they'll probably show the island reappearing in the same spot only a few day's in the future or something like that. nice catch

could be, but now i'm wondering what the significance was of ben putting all the metal in that chamber and blowing it up. was it so locke couldn't time travel? so anyone else couldn't?

did the secret passage in ben's house lead to the orchid? or is there a different chamber to use for time travel on the island that they just don't know about yet?

I think on the tape they mentioned that the positioning of the time travel chamber was in front of a pocket of something and Ben was just using all the metal's reaction to blow a hole through the back wall to get to the Frozen Donkey Wheel.

Though it does beg the question -- how did Locke leave the island?

The passage in his house seemed to lead to a place where he could summon Smokey, at least that's the general assumption.

Yeah, I think he pulled all the damaged metal out of the vault and then crawled through the tunnel that blew open at the back of it.

My guess would be the same way that Tom did, when he paid Michael a visit. We just haven't seen it yet.

Or maybe we have, and Ben wasn't kidding about having an idea in his answer to Jack's question of "how are we supposed to get back?"

When things started to go bad on the island after Jack et al left and weren't supposed to, Locke may have tried to move the island again. Hence how he got off the island. Tom visited Michael when he was still alive on the island and the chamber was intact. I believe.

How can an island go forward in time? It's a land mass. If it goes forward in the future it's still gonna exist in the past. Now if it wasn't attached to the earth then maybe.

I felt kinda like it slipped under water. Maybe the lost city of atlantis or something like that. Where do you hide an island?

I agree, it probably time travelled, however, it could have moved too. The bunny in the Orchid Video outtakes actually changed location, as did Ben.

The vault in the Orchid was what was used for time travel. The video said nothing about the secret frozen donkey wheel. The video warned not to put metal in the vault. Probably because they knew it would destroy the vault. Dharma may also have known about the wheel and wanted to keep it secret and safe. It seemed the vault was able to enable time travel due to it's proximity to the wheel and it's properties. I think the wheel actually allows travel through space.

If the island has been moved before, then why did Ben have to blow out the wall to get to the frozen donkey wheel? I think it has been there for a very long time, but has not been used by Ben, Jacob or anyone since The Orchid was built.
I do believe they had the capability of using that vault to travel through time and that would explain why Ben had so many passports and money of multiple denominations. :eek2:
Do you think the island will reappear in 5 minutes or so like the doctors body, and the rabbit, so it really didn't move permanently, just traveled in time?

Ben got sent to October of 2005 so maybe the island did too.

i think the orchid was built around the donkey wheel to harness its time and space travelling properties. much like how the swan was built around the hub of electromagnetic radiation on the island to study and harness it.

the wheel looked like it was in an ancient temple, like the hidden one in ben's house... so some ancient four-toed civilization that's been on the island musta built it.

it's interesting to think the island is moved into the future and only exists in the future and not the present. kind of like in Stephen King's The Langoliers, where a bunch of people on a plane get sucked through a wormhole into the past, but everything from the past (people, energy, molecules) is in the future and these demons run around eating the past.

Did anyone see the Orchid video clip on Season 3 DVD's .... it was a piece of the video that we didn't see last night.. where the bunny "reappears" in the same room as Haliwax and the bunny he is holding... there is some kind of mention that they..the two bunnies... cannot be together.. and there is alarms sounding if I remember correctly.. Does anyone remember that? What might it mean in relation to the island and time travel. Any ideas .. I am convinced it's significant because nothing shown in Lost including the DVD is trivial..

Just looking for some thoughts.. thanks

The island moving to October 2005 is a good idea.

I have to watch the episode again because there was so much, but when we saw Sawyer and Juliette on the beach was tha before the island moved? Because they could see the ship, which would mean it would be an invisibility thing. I'm thinking the first episode back will be the losties and others seeing the bright light.
