for me in Lost's history, happened in this episode. The Sun/Jin freighter explosion being the saddest, and the Desmond/Penny reunion being the happiest.

I've been wanting Penny and Desmond to be reunited since season 2, so that moment honestly made up for Jin dying for me, though that was incredibly heartbreaking.

I'm sorry if there's already a thread on this.

The saddest moment was that I feel cheated out of a worthy character death for John Locke. Nothing cool, no redemption from his previous life just dead in casket where no one but a pill-popping egotistical alcoholic show up to his funeral.

I cried and cried even before Desmond and Penny's kiss. Themoment I heard them uelling "Miss Widmore" the tears started coming. Beautiful moment.
Thank you Darleton.

He may be 'dead' in the casket, but that is absol-positiv-lutey not the last we will see of Locke in S5 and 6.

The Des/Penny scene magnificent, couldn't have done it any better. And although I did think the Jin death scene was incredibly heartbreaking, it still doesn't hold a candle to Charlie's death.

I'm sorry but I'm a grown man and Charlie's death made me cry.

Agreed. We have most definitely not seen the end of John Locke by a long shot.

And I agree about Jin's death - Sun's reaction was heartbreaking, but I would have hoped for more from Jin's actual death. But I'm still going to keep on hoping that he jumped off the side and is still alive ;)

I agree. Jin/Sun=saddest moment, Des/Pen=happiest moment. I'm not really happy with Sun right now, but Yun Jin Kim was amazing in that scene. She did a great job.

When I heard them say "Miss Widmore" I yelled out "Penny!" Then had a huge smile and cried all at once. I had been waiting for that moment since season 2, and it finally happened. I'm so happy now.

A huge smile crossed my face too! That was an excellent set up to the kiss! I love the expression on Sonya's and Henry's faces when they knew they other was right there. It was simply amazing.

I have to agree. And you know I was so thrown and distracted by them showing Jack's dad at the last second talking to Michael, that for a moment I forgot about Jin. It was sad and I felt bad for Sun, but I didn't cry like I thought I would. But Charlie's death, and I was not a huge fan of Charlie until last seasons last few episodes, had me to the point of sobbing, nose running, eyes all red, etc.. lol

That's how I was for Jin's death, which was mainly because of the Sun's reaction. It's interesting, that moment made me much sadder than did the death of my favorite character.

I bawled when Charlie died....it was completely selfless.
Sun's reaction to Jin broke my heart. It was physically painful for me to empathize in any way.
I don't know which is sadder.

Saddest moment....Jack telling Desmond, "See ya in another life, brother." I guess it seemed like it closed a chapter in someone's life, but I get the feeling that they'll meet again.

Happiest moment. Charlotte kissing Daniel on the cheek. I guess it was a happy and sad moment--I just found it to be the most touching kiss of the night. Sorry to the other kissers.

I'd have to say mine are:

Saddest was Death of Charlie
Happiest was Des/Penny phone call in The Constant

There is too many happy moments to choose from. If I had to choose one from the past few episodes, I would say it's when Hurley was running out to meet his family for the first time since the crash. The saddest moment on Lost to date, for me, is Boone's death.

I've never really been moved by Desmond and Penny, honestly. But I can appreciate how some people are.

Saddest--yes, Charlie's death. I mourned for a few days, even going so far as dressing in black the following day at work (of course, it was my black 4 8 15 16 23 42 shirt). And when I found out why--that the writers didn't want to cheat the audience out of a promised Charlie death--I was infuriated that something as stupid and ill-thought out as that was what determined the fate of the best character to ever grace the show.

Happiest--gee, I don't know. There aren't many of them that work for me. . .I'm leaning toward the Bernard and Rose reunion, actually. Or Bernard's proposal. So sweet. If not one of those, then. . .something with Hurley.

Come on... do you *really* think that Locke's journey ends in that coffin? There's no way it does, and they could not have foreshadowed this any more blatantly than by having Ben say that he (Locke) also needed to go back to the Island with the O6.

Yeah, both were incredible moments.... Yunjin Kim's acting in that scene was phenomenal.... and I did not think the DesPenny reunion was coming in this episode so that (pleasantly) surprised me. All in all, I sat there with my jaw on the floor for most of this episode.

Oops..just realized this was the saddest and happiest moments in Lost history, not the season's finale. Okay...here goes:

Saddest: Charlie's death
Happiest: Hmm..oddly, I was estatic when I saw the Others come out in force to capture Kate and Sayid. I felt that they were reinforcements for the Losties in peril.

Saddest/most shocking moment in LOST history: The death of Alex. One of the most awful things ever broadcast on television, as far as I'm concerned.

Happiest: Desmond and Penny were fantastic, but the Season 2 montage of the Raft Boys staggering back to the beach--Michael reunited with Vincent, then Jin with Sun, then Bernard with Rose--was absolutely incredible and fantastically choreographed. And it was followed by shell-shocked Sayid exiting the clearing with Shannon's body, and Jack facing Ana Lucia across a great chasm . . . powerful stuff.

I agree with your saddest and happiest moments. Honestly I found myself gasping and almost sobbing when Sun was in her hysteria regarding Jin. It was so painful. Yunjin Kim is such a good actor it's almost scary! It was bone-chilling.
