View Full Version : Wonderfalls WharffRat 01-18-2005, 12:25 PM The 1st season is being released on DVD Feb. 1st. for more details --==>>http://www.getherwordsout.com/ L8r, WharffRat :chris: GrrrAargh 01-18-2005, 01:03 PM Fan yes, but disappointed as well. Sadly, Wonderfalls didn't meet my expectations for the show -- nonetheless, we'll probably Netflix it so we can at least see the unaired episodes. We'll do the same with Miracles as well -- I know that comes out soon, too. LearnToFly 01-18-2005, 01:05 PM Thanks for the info. Now I have something to kinda look forward to. WharffRat 01-18-2005, 01:18 PM Thanks for the info. Now I have something to kinda look forward to. NP L8r, WharffRat :chris: theG 02-05-2005, 09:20 PM Fox (dirty, gorram...) only aired about four episodes but I liked what I saw, so I went out and bought the DVDs. I enjoyed the five episodes I've seen so far (and Jewel Staite is in other episodes!). I was just wondering if anyone else here liked Wonderfalls, too. "Well, just look at them. They all work really hard everyday, and they're all dissatisfied. I mean, I can be dissatisfied without hardly working at all." --Jaye Tyler, "Wax Lion" slinkii 02-05-2005, 09:27 PM LOVED the show. Have yet to get the box set. Soon....it's a must have on my list. LearnToFly 02-05-2005, 09:39 PM I didn't buy the set yet. But I promised myself that I would, or else ask for it for a birthday present. tlacook 02-06-2005, 05:54 PM I absolutely adored this show. I stayed up all night last night to watch all the episodes and now I am more angry than I was when Fox screwed this show over last spring. At least Tim Minear was smart enough to read between the lines and made sure that the series was nicely wrapped up in 13 episodes. theG 02-06-2005, 06:12 PM Good to know it's wrapped up nicely. I only have one and a half more episodes to watch. The more episodes I watch, the more painful Wonderfall's cancellation is to me. In the middle of an episode today I simply shouted "WHY!?". Fortunately, no one else was home... Alden 02-06-2005, 06:22 PM I'm in Canada, so I got to see all the eps played on Vision. I -heart- Wonderfalls so much I pushed fanfiction.net for a section. And, even though she barely gets any scenes, I love Beth (Sharon's girlfriend). I can't wait to get the set! I've heard a lot about, maybe if the DVD's sell unexpectedly well, a movie, TV-movie, or maybe even get picked up! FuryFanatic 02-07-2005, 11:01 AM maybe if the DVD's sell unexpectedly well, a movie, TV-movie, or maybe even get picked up! It's on Amazon.com's list of bestselling DVDs at #13. dingoaction 02-07-2005, 02:47 PM "like the show" doesn't quite cover it. I'm in love with the freakin thing. And, also, I usually can keep my obsessions to myself, but on thursday, after I'd had a chance to enjoy the greatness a bit, I decided the word needed to be spread, and foisted it upon my friend...who was hooked by the middle of the pilot, and was like "we're watching the next one, right?" I promised her we'd finish it all...she was very anxious to see when Jaye and Erik get together. and like cook said, I am so glad they had the foresight to complete the arc. rabgal 02-07-2005, 04:57 PM Cancelling that show was a travesty  :unhappy: theG 02-07-2005, 05:43 PM I just finished watching the last episode. Wow. The ending was quite nice :) Alden 02-07-2005, 11:52 PM Oh! Fanfiction.net now hads a Wonderfalls category! Yay! JON@H 02-08-2005, 01:29 AM Cancelling that show was a travesty* :unhappy: yes but thats the FOX way, I cant believe Tim even contemplated a deal with them after what they did to FF - but anyway once again another HIT DVD - that a way to get a sure fire hit on DVD, let FOX cancel you first. WharffRat 02-08-2005, 03:07 PM I got the DVD set but have not made the time to watch it yet hopefully soon L8r, WharffRat :chris: Ferrel 02-10-2005, 12:46 PM The DVDs are definately worth it. I've watched all 13 episodes and while it left you wanting more, I was satisfied with the way it wrapped up. LostBrerMatt 04-25-2005, 10:20 AM Thanks for showing me this thread, theG. The DVD set did leave me wanting more, especially the commentaries as they hint at some of season 2's exploits. It would have started off with Jaye in an insane asylum and Spencer Breslan would be in there for arson. Maybe Wonderfalls can be brought back like The Family Guy... theG 04-25-2005, 10:24 AM Were the commentaries any good?* I haven't seen the episodes with them yet. LostBrerMatt 04-25-2005, 10:43 AM I've only seen 2 out of I think 5 with commentaries. I think they're good. It's a good mix of "this is what we wanted to do with the show" and "a lot of people thought this" and "the quarter gets huge when it bounces down the steps" and "we filmed this scene in two different places for the two different angles." theG 04-25-2005, 10:50 AM Oh. Okay. I guess I'll check it out when I have time. CharliesGal 04-25-2005, 08:04 PM Great show, great DVD set. I loved Wonderfalls. I was a loyal watcher from the beginning and was really upset when it was cancelled. But then again, I have come to expect it from FOX, after being completely destroyed by the slaughter of the most compelling hour of TV (before Lost) was cancelled. That hour was called Firefly! (see my icon for more information about the upcoming movie) But we are talking about Wonderfalls. I love Jaye. She's so deliciously sarcastic and apathetic. It's how I feel inside sometimes but am usually too afraid to express it out loud, you know? I loved the episode about the Gen Y nonwinners article and the "Single White Female." I love it because, for awhile, I was one of those nonwinners (although according to some people I'm actually a member of Gen X) and my blurb would have been only a few words long. Now, things are great and my blurb would be even better than my sister's would (ha, ha, ha!) but for awhile there it was pretty scary! Oh, and the high school reunion one cracks me up every time. There are many Gretchen Specks in my past that I would love to destroy. Alden 04-25-2005, 08:43 PM I loved Wonderfalls so much I picked up Heidi as an RP character in an RP,mand considered writieng a spec script/series about her. I dropped a series desc. for it on a Wodnerfalls board, heheheh. I love Heidi. One mistake, and her whole life is ruined... But it was meant to be. She deserves some love. CharliesGal 04-25-2005, 08:47 PM That was a pretty big "mistake" she made! There is no excuse for cheating... especially on your honeymoon! Alden 04-25-2005, 08:54 PM Well yeah, of course. Most marriages would implode after that. Even after all that, and Eric's smashing of glasses and in general sourness towards her (and I don't think those two months were spent waiting. If Heidi were genuinely in love with him, which I suspect she is/was, most of that time was probably spent crying. I cans ee her beign too proud to mention that, though.) But, just tihnk of it... Sghe cheats, goes back, is led to belive Jaye and Eric have been doing it for all that time, so she really tries to win him back, hoping that he can forgive her... and he does, and remarries her. Then, she loses him to someone who is, as far as she can tell, a psychotic, alcoholic stalker who randomly throws her tv out her window. If I were Heidi, I'd be fighting just to keep him away from her. Jaye, if you din't understand her like we did,w as really scary sometimes. Cocktail Bunny, anyone? So, yeah, I'm a Heidi supporter *grin*. I lvoe all the characters, I just thought that Heidi was the only one to end up alone and really, really sad. she was the one person who really didn't benefit from Jaye's animals... LostBrerMatt 04-25-2005, 09:04 PM Heidi can always find another bellboy. CharliesGal 04-25-2005, 09:19 PM BrerMatt, There you go! I totally agree. Let Heidi find another bellboy for "room service" and leave Jaye and Eric alone. Their love is beautiful! lol Alden, I agree with you in a way too, though. Jaye does seem rather psychotic at times! But Heidi didn't deserve to benefit from Jaye's talking animals. She was awful! But the thing is, I love Jewel as an actress, so it's really great to see her playing such a catty character after seeing her as sweet little Kaylee on Firefly. It was a great role for her and I wish we could have seen more Heidi just for that. So I guess I loved to hate Heidi. Alden 04-25-2005, 11:23 PM *grin* I love Jewel Staite now, too. She actually made me have empathy for what could have been a one-sided... you may know the word I wanna use. But...I think that Heidi really did love Eric, and that it just wasn't meant to be. So, the whole Eric/Jaye thing was fate and punishment for Heidi, who can now find who she's supposed to be with. Sorta reminds me of Shannon, actually... minaloush 04-26-2005, 02:54 AM It's an amazing show - such good casting. :/ heartbreaking that it got cancelled, much like Firefly. on an aside, tim minear, who worked on wonderfalls is also working on 'the inside' now, which is the show that david fury is working on until he goes to 24. six degrees, yo. theG 04-26-2005, 03:28 AM I see no connection between Heidi and Shannon... At all. I know there is a Firefly thread around here somewhere in which we can post. Now, where is it? Alden 04-26-2005, 08:31 PM Katie Finneran's in the Inside too! Shannon and Heidi are two female characters I love, so maybe all the connections are in my head... LostBrerMatt 04-26-2005, 09:35 PM I think you could argue that Heidi and Shannon are both manipulative. When Heidi came back to Niagra to get Eric back, she was manipulative. When Shannon wanted Boone to come bail her out, she was manipulative. I'd trade either one for a girl who talks to animals. theG 04-26-2005, 10:06 PM Seriously, we're not getting into a Shannon discussion.* This is the reason I hang out in Chit Chat:* to avoid potential Shannon-bashing.* Shannon is no more manipulative than anyone else on the island.* In fact, I do believe many of them are more manipulative than she is. La fin. LostBrerMatt 04-26-2005, 10:20 PM I like Shannon. I was just comparing and contrasting. I kinda liked Heidi too. Better than Gretchen. That chick would drive anyone nuts. CharliesGal 04-26-2005, 11:28 PM The funny thing about Gretchen is, everyone knows one. My best friend and I watched Wonderfalls together every week and when that episode aired, after it was over, we both looked at each other and started listing the Gretchens who went to our high school. We are approaching our 10 year reunion (and it's not being held three years early, either) and I'm wondering if we will have any Gretchen-like revelations at ours. I hope not! Couple's cards make me want to hurl(y)..... see how I slipped that Lost reference in there? I must be a true fan. lol LostBrerMatt 04-26-2005, 11:43 PM I skipped my 10 year. I don't think I missed out. I don't talk to anyone from high school. CharliesGal 04-27-2005, 12:48 AM BrerMatt, There are about five of us who have stayed in touch and there are about three others that I'd like to see, just to know what they've been doing. The others... I dont' really care about. I already know most of the gossip because my sister keeps up with everything, so I know who's in jail, who has been married or divorced, who has six kids, etc. I may skip it. But then I start thinking of "Romey and Michelle's High School Reunion" and I want to put on a crazy dress like they did and go just for kicks, maybe quoting some of their lines and just being crazy. Ah well, I have a few months to decide. LostBrerMatt 04-27-2005, 12:50 AM If I go to my 20th, maybe I'll tell everyone I invented Post-Its. CharliesGal 04-27-2005, 12:57 AM lol, I was just sitting here thinking about the crazy stories I could come up with. But post its are the ultimate. I doubt anyone in my graduating class invented anything cool. Although a guy I dated back then became a software engineer and wrote some kind of program that was used in a lot of Internet applications. Made himself quite a nice pile of cash and then lost it in the stock market. Poor guy. Naughty Paws 04-27-2005, 10:09 PM http://www.thefuselage.com/threaded/index.php?topic=15322.new#new LostBrerMatt 05-02-2005, 12:47 AM CharliesGal pointed out elsewhere that Wonderfalls fans didn't get a chance to get a name... Firefly has Browncoats, Lost has...lots... Any suggestions for a name for fans of Wonderfalls? Here are mine... 1. Mouthbreathers 2. Wonderfans 3. Smushed Lions 4. Cocktail Bunnies theG 05-02-2005, 06:41 AM Mouth-Breathers--it has a ring to it. Alden 05-02-2005, 07:23 AM Crazy People. LostBrerMatt 05-04-2005, 06:47 PM "New Regency Prod., a sister movie unit to Wonderfalls' Regency Television production company, hopes to develop a Wonderfalls feature film with Fuller and co-creator/co-executive producer Todd Holland." Brunette beauty Caroline Dhavernas let all her spunk hang out over at PopGurls and got blabbing about the rumoured "Wonderfalls" movie. Though keen, the Canadian actress says she'll wait for confirmation before doing double-backflips. "They're talking about a movie", says the actress. "I don't want to hold [them] to that [though] because in this business you can talk about things for years before they get done – god knows if the financing would happen. I know that people are still thinking about it, so we'll see what happens." Next up, says the actress, is a movie with former "Angel" star David Boreanaz called "These Girls". CharliesGal 05-05-2005, 11:43 PM interesting news, BrerMatt! It looks like Serenity may start a trend: feature films made from failed TV shows. I hope it happens |
