Ceasar and Ilana

So Ceasar and Ilana... Ilana seems to very much to defer to Ceasar, although she is a law enforcement officer, and he is...??? It seemed odd, as I would have expected her to take charge more. However, they seemed to me to both have the same accent. Greek maybe? They both look like they could be Greek. Any other opinions of their accents? The obvious question is whether or not they already knew each other, which seems unclear, but I'm leaning towards thinking they did. The way she said, "You'll have to talk to Caesar" when John asked about a passenger list makes it clear that she's very uncomfortable that Caesar is seemingly taking charge of everything, yet her response to the situation seems very passive for a cop. Any other impressions?

Re: Ceasar and Ilana

I agree with your post regarding these two characters. The only other thing I can think of was that when she asked him what he put in his bag.....there seemed to be a lack of trust towards him.

Re: Ceasar and Ilana

I think his name is really César which would make him probably Hispanic.

Re: Ceasar and Ilana

i think its pretty obvious where Caesar's name is from, meaning wise, i.e jack shepard... leader of the flock. from what we have seen already he has assumed power, and i think that he isn't gunna tell anyone about his shotgun because it will come in handy when the other 316ers try over throw him. will be good to see how his character develops into the story.

Re: Ceasar and Ilana

He kinda reminds me of Sawyer back in season 1 & 2 with the way he takes control of certain items and you have to go through him if you want something.

I wonder what the point of introducing these 2 characters are. Time will tell.

IMDB has him as "Caesar"
The actor is of Morrocan descent, but grew up in France, and did mostly French film and TV before switching to mostly roles in American film and TV, and has also done some work in German and Italian. So his natural accent is probably French. Listening again, I hear a little French, but it sounds like he's trying to affect something different.

The actress playing Ilana is even more international. She is of Burmese, Indian, Iranian, Scottish, and English descent, born in England, raised in Thailand and Malaysia, and graduated from drama school in LA. Sheesh!

Re: Ceasar and Ilana

I also wondered why Ceasar seemed to be in charge. Peronally, I think they are both plants, one by Widmore and one by Ben. If I were to guess, I'd think that Ceasar is Widmore's agent and Illana is Ben's.
